The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 96 - We Are Divorced

“Basic is not creative. It can only repeat the sentence I said.” I grunt softly mocking him.

“You are a writer, aren't you used to seeing your sentences as quotes?” he said he didn't want to lose.

“So, what are our plans tomorrow?” ask me to divert the conversation.

“We will go after breakfast. So, make sure Liando's dropping off the book before we leave. If there are clothes that you do not want to bring, immediately repackage because I do not know if Yuyun put in all the clothes you want.”

“After breakfast? I don't even have enough time to bathe the kids. How about we leave around ten in the morning?” I tried to bargain. She shook her head.

“Pretty take care of Dira, let me help Hadi get ready.” Of course he will refuse. “I want us to arrive there before lunch hour.”

“Where are we going?” aska I want to know.

“Reclaration.”

“Then how do I know which clothes are suitable for me to bring if you don't tell me the location? The beach? Forest?” I have to ask Liando to bring my pajamas as well. I'm not comfortable wearing my nightgown with her. All those dresses are too seductive.

“Cold place at night,” the answer just gave me a little hint. “Do not ask again because I will not tell you.”

“You should go alone with the kids. I want to know if you can just spend a day with them.” I put a piece of chips in my mouth and chewed it quickly.

“You feel like you're winning now because they're close to you and don't want to be around me? We'll see after they get along with me. I'll let you deal with those who won't part from me,” the challenge.

I grunt softly. “Confidence once you. I'm not sure they'll be close to you in just a day or two.”

“We'll be together for a whole week, Za. Not one let alone two days.” He smiled triumphantly.

“No,” I said slowly. I looked at him in disbelief. How am I supposed to resist this guy-shaped temptation for a week, huh, God? What test is this? “Hadi is already in school and he is not yet on holiday. I can't let him not study for five days straight.”

“I entrust you to ask permission of his teacher. To be sure, we will leave tomorrow after breakfast and will be back next Sunday,” he said in an indisputable tone.

That sentence kept me quiet. I wanted to refute it but it was night and the children were sleeping. I don't want to go through a long night trying to put them back to sleep. After all Hadi is still Kindergarten, he won't miss anything at his school. What I fear is the collapse of my defensive fortifications.

He held up his seat, I looked at our feet. Since when have I sat so close to him? Our thighs and arms touched. Is she the one who is slowly sitting closer to me? Oh. I did it just now because he suddenly mentioned a ghost. What am I supposed to do now? Should I just stay away, move to my position?

“There are other movies you want to watch?” ask Hendra. I looked at him confused. “The film is up. You want to watch something else?”

“Oh.” I looked at the television screen. The channel is currently airing a closing credit of the recently completed film. “Ah, it's late. I have to get up early tomorrow to get ready.”

“You're daydreaming, huh? You chose this movie, you didn't notice it either. What did you think of earlier?” He looked at me meaningfully. I'll stand up soon.

“I'll be to the room now.” I picked up my empty glass, then walked to the kitchen counter. After putting the glass in the sink and throwing the empty bag of chips into the trash, I walked into the room.

Hendra followed me to the room, even to the bathroom. “What do you do?”

“I have to brush my teeth. All my personal items are here.” He took his toothbrush and pasta. I wanted to say that he moved all his bath needs to the bathroom outside, but it was disrespectful. This is his apartment, his bedroom, me hitching a ride here. So, I brushed my teeth as quickly as possible.

I took out all the clothes I didn't need and just brought practical clothes. Pants and jerseys are easier to wear anywhere than a dress. Recalling my words last night, I called Liando and asked him to bring my new book, sneakers, and some pajamas to Hendra's apartment.

There were laughter and happy screeches of children outside the room. It's not usually Hadi and Dira don't look for me after they wake up. I came out of the room and saw a scene I had not expected.

Hadi and Dira were already wearing sports clothes as well as their sneakers. Did Hendra help them change clothes? And most surprisingly, they laughed with Hendra. There was no longer any distance between them.

But hearing them mention Ara's name followed by a puppy's salute, my blood boiled. My children dare to call my name. I looked towards Hendra who was laughing happily while holding Dira's body. They played with the dog.

“Where are you from?” I try to divert my anger.

“Mama!” say Hadi and Dira simultaneously. They only realized my presence after I spoke? What a charm that puppy.

“We just jogged in the park with Papa and Ara, Ma,” replied Hadi. I frowned when I heard him say my name. I turned to Hendra who was just smiling. “There are many other types of dogs, Ma. I also got a new friend who has a big dog. Name's Colin. Her hair color is brown and her eyes are blue, Ma. Very cool!”

“You jogging with Papa?” I just don't believe it. Dira was busy alone with the puppy circling around him while sniffing his body.

“Iya, Mother. Garden's good. There are a lot of games. This look, my clothes are wet from sweating.” The bell cut his sentence. He immediately ran towards the door. “That must be Mr. Liando.” Hendra called out a number line to me.

“Please, open the door. I still hold my daughter,” she said. I'm nodding.

Hadi's guess is right. The one who came was Liando. Hendra asked him to put all the items he brought to the kitchen counter. I smiled glad to see that he also brought us breakfast. I will miss Fahri's cooking a lot for the next week. He had to take her to breakfast with us, but as usual, she refused.

After Liando left, I headed to the kitchen counter and opened all the food boxes. Hendra who was holding Dira approached me and made coffee using an automatic coffee maker. I make hot chocolate for the kids.

“Hadi, sit, Son. We should have breakfast soon. You must be hungry.” I lifted two dishes and put them on the table. Then I lifted two more plates, for me and Dira.

“Papa said we're going to a nice place, Ma. There are a lot of surprises there. We will also be adventuring. I can't wait anymore.” Hadi chewed an omelet while smiling.

“Talk it later, baby. Spend your breakfast first.” I sat on the left side of Hadi. Hendra put Dira in a special baby seat on my left side, then she sat down in front of me. I put a plastic plate containing breakfast for Dira on her little table.

“After breakfast, Hadi and I will take a shower, you take a bath with Dira. I'll use the bathroom outside. I've cut down some of Hadi's clothes, so you just take care of Dira's clothes. Do we need baby diapers?” hendra said after a while we just kept quiet and enjoyed our breakfast.

“No. Dira doesn't like it and he can already tell when it's time to go to the toilet,” I said in a proud tone.

“That's my daughter.” Hendra stroked Dira's plump cheeks.

“Your daughter? You weren't even there when she was doing toilet training. After he succeeded well, you praised him as if you were contributing to his success?” my protest. Hendra frowned.

“I'm not proud of myself. I am proud of my daughter. What's wrong with that word? Dira is indeed my daughter, not anyone else,” she said confusedly.

“Oh, so. So if she makes you proud, then she's papa's daughter, while when she pisses you off, she's your daughter. So you mean?”

“What is this? I didn't mean that at all? Are you coming to the moon? Are you PMS?” He looked at the bottom of my body which thankfully was covered with a table.

“What does PMS have to do with all this?” The sound of laughter distracted me. We looked at Dira. She looked at me and her papa in turn while laughing happily. “Not wrong anymore. He laughed seeing us arguing.”
