The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 166 - Not My Secret

“I'm hungry, baby. I can't play puzzles.” I imitated the way he looked at me. Is it just him who can stare at people so sharply?

“Where did you just come home from?” tanyakanya.

“Pick up Hadi and Colin from their school,” I replied honestly. He squinted his eyes.

“Don't act smart in front of me. Where did you just come from?” He repeated the question coldly again and this meant that someone told him where I was going.

“Liando basics can't keep a secret,” my murmur swears at my loyal driver.

“He not only works for you, he also works for me. I know your bad habits are hard to change, so everyone in this house should always report to me no matter what you do. Whether at home or out there.”

“Iya, yes. Alright.” I relented. “Can we talk about all this over lunch?” I put on a face.

“No. We talk, then you can eat.” He still looked at me seriously.

“I beg you, dear.” I gave her my best sad face that she could not resist. “I haven't eaten anything since breakfast this morning. I beg.” He growled softly.

“You are troublesome only.” He stood up, took my hand, and we walked out of the room together. I smiled triumphantly. I hugged his arm while kissing his shoulder. “I'm still angry, so don't kiss or hug me like this.” His mouth said no, but he did not push me away from him. Fucking liar.

Even though they had lunch, Hadi and Colin enjoyed Fahri's cooking in the dining room. The three of them were almost done eating, whereas I had just arrived. All this because my husband suddenly invited me to talk about things that we could discuss later.

“Yuyun, please accompany children to play.” Hendra did not take his eyes off me one bit. But I wasn't disturbed at all. He could keep staring at my pretty face. “Speak. Don't dodge it again.”

“What Papa hasn't said anything to you?” my many. He shook his head slowly. How could you hide the results from Papa? “Based on the results of the last health examination, the doctor found there was a second stage cancer in one of the mothers. I heard it from the nurse who accompanied me during our health checkup. They think I already know that, so they're free to tell me.”

“Why didn't you tell me about it immediately? You know that there should be no secrets between us,” demanded Hendra.

“Honey, I won't hide my secret from you. But this is my mother's secret. I have absolutely no right to tell you this. Only Mama has the right to say it to anyone she wants,” I said explaining the meaning of the deal we did.

“Mama is my mother, Za,” she said she did not want to lose.

“The secret is neither me nor you, Hendra. Just like you. Company secrets are things you'll never tell me. Do I have the right to demand that you open everything? Of course not. Our agreement is about secrets between us, not the secrets of others,” I said firmly. He closed his lips.

“Good. You're right.” He looked towards the window, preoccupied with his own thoughts.

“Mama will be fine once the cancer is treated as soon as possible. But the choice given by doctors is not easy. The treatment is extreme. So, Mama is hesitant to take the next step.” I touched his hand on the table.

“What does the doctor suggest?” He held my hand with both hands. I looked at him for a moment before saying the thing that would shock him so much.

“Payudara appointment.”

“What we did earlier was to see a second doctor and he still gives the same choice. Operation is the best way.” I sighed softly. I put down the spoon I was holding. My appetite is gone.

“I'm sorry. I think something happened to you that you had to go to the hospital. I've looked at your medical check-up and thought that you were hiding something from me. It turns out that my mom is sick. Be eating. I won't ask until you're done.” He let go of my hand.

“I'll talk to you about this tonight. I don't know what to say because I don't know how Mama's disease progresses. But after hearing it earlier, I thought that it was time for you to know it too.” I smiled at him.

“Mama will talk to Papa today. I don't need to accompany Mama for treatment later. But I've requested that Mama inform us of her operating schedule.” I put food back in my mouth.

“What does it mean that you do not need to accompany Mama to do treatment? Did Mama decide to hire a private nurse?” asked Hendra astonished. I'm shaking.

“Mama wants Nora who was with him during the treatment process later,” I replied. Hendra laughs. “Why are you laughing?”

“Mama overestimated the height of the woman. She is not the kind of woman who bothers to take care of the household. Don't you know why he's so eager to prove that Hadi and Dira aren't my biological children?” tanyanya smiled meaningfully.

“Why?” aska I want to know.

“He wants us to get married later, I don't take the kids with me. His way of looking at me and my parents by ignoring the presence of Hadi and Dira is an example. I am not surprised by his attitude towards you. But against our children, it's another story,” he replied so confidently. I remember the conversation Nora and I had in the toilet.

“Causible. But he could be willing to accompany Mama for treatment, baby. I know that she's a woman who will do anything to get what she wants.” Accompanying Mama will make her closer to Mama. Their relationship probably won't affect Hendra's opinion of the woman. I believe my husband loves me. But it will keep me away from my mother.

“You want to bet with me?” He smiled meaningfully. I shook my head. “If I'm right, he won't accompany Mama, then you shouldn't complain in the least when I get to work out in the morning. If you complain a little in one week, then you must obey whatever I say.” His eyes flashed mischievously as he said that.

“Why do I feel bad about this bet, huh? What are you really planning?” I was full of suspicion.

“Ayo, say. What's your bet?” he ignored my question. I also gave up. I have nothing to fear, I still have a chance to win.

“Good. If I'm right, then I want a day with you. Our children leave it at my parents' house or Zach,” I say call the gift I want.

“Atal.” Hendra looked at me with a triumphant smile as we shook hands. He has not yet been confirmed as the winner. “Solve your meal. Something I want to show you.”

“What?” aska I want to know. He just smiled.

After eating, he took me to the family room where the children were. They greeted us, then continued to play with blocks forming the building. Hendra turned on the television and chose channel after channel until the screen displayed a newscast.

I read the headline on the news that was being aired. One of the central council commissions was caught last night giving bribes. Dicky's name was one of the board members who did just that to investigators. There is a suspicious use of the budget. To avoid his name and his colleagues being named in the case, he paid investigators to eliminate evidence.

I'm sure he'll get punished and can't get out of the law anymore. But I was not satisfied with the news. “Only Dicky? What about Vivaldo and Nora?”
