How could such a big publisher want my book to be printed? I put my hand on my left chest, trying to calm my heartbeat. This isn't a dream, ‘kan? What I wrote was still my first novel and the story was not as great as a senior writer.
I took a deep breath, then opened another email. My eyes were round looking at the contents of almost the same message. Other publishers also want to get the right to print my book. It's really a dream. It can't be all this reality.
The door of my room was knocked, I let her in. Yuyun who opened the door and looked at me worriedly, but then her facial expression turned normal. “Mistress, Mister called but you didn't answer. He was worried and asked me to check your situation.”
“Oh.” I immediately grabbed my phone that was on the table. “I'm sorry. There was a shocking news that made me not realize what was going on around me. Thank ye. I'll call my husband now.”
Before I called her, her face filled my phone screen. I smiled at his impatience. I shifted the green-colored symbol and his voice greeted me with a worried tone. “Where have you been? Is everything okay?”
“Everything is fine. I just read a new email and there was some shocking news. And you won't believe this.” I intentionally didn't say it immediately.
“Darling, stop messing with me. What news do you mean?” ask Hendra.
“Publisher wants to print my book!!” cheers happy. I jumped around in place with my phone still in my grasp.
“Honey, Za, are you jumping around on the spot? You can't jump around like that. You can fall! Za, do you hear me? Please, baby,” cry Hendra panic. I just laughed when I heard it. But I did and stopped jumping.
“When you go home, we have to discuss this together. I can't decide which publisher to choose.” I sit back. He was silent for a moment.
“You mean, there is more than one publisher applying for your book?” tanyanya did not believe. I agreed quickly. “Congratulations, darling! You have long written so many topics on your blog and today all your hard work paid off.”
“Thank you,” I said happy. “Now tell me, what is it you called me?”
“I just want to know how you two are doing. You didn't answer all the calls from me. I think something bad has happened. That's why I called Yuyun.” He sighed softly. “Luckily you guys are fine.”
“You know at this hour I was writing in my room. Of course I didn't answer the phone or any calls. Unless I'm gonna get some rest. Oh, I remember.” I put the phone on the buffer, then continued to eat the cake that was delayed.
“I'm glad to hear you ate well. Did you shop on Monday?” tanyakanya. I'm asserting. “Always remind Liando to pick up clothes that have been washed from the tattooist. Yesterday he forgot to do it.”
“Oh, yes. I forgot about it too. Thanks for reminding him.”
“Not usually you forget. Did something happen on Monday?” tanyanya slow. I thought for a moment and immediately remembered Aldo and his children. Did Kafin say anything to his master? Ah, it's impossible. He's not the kind of spotter.
“Of course. I didn't have any appointments that whole week. The wedding will be held on Friday, but we go home on Monday morning because you wives want to vacation together after the wedding is over.” Hendra said it in a funny tone that made me laugh.
Friendship between men and women is different. Hendra and my best friend's husbands don't meet very often, but they are quite familiar every time they talk together on several occasions. My friends and I have to meet at least once a month to share our stories or we won't go home at our next meeting because there's so much to share about our lives.
On the day Lindsey returned from America, they took me on a conference call. Qiana was already impatient to hear themselves landing at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Darla immediately asked Brad Pitt and Richard Gere for a laugh.
“Your voice is like yelling all night, Lind,” seductress Qiana. We laughed amusedly.
“I can't sleep soundly on the plane. Bed at home or hotel is much more convenient than in any transportation.” He yawns slowly.
“I can't understand what you're going through, but I know what it's like to not be able to sleep,” Darla said.
“We will meet on Tuesday. What if this meeting was held in our house? So, I don't need to bring all the ordered and souvenirs for you guys. Everything can be taken directly from where we live,”, Lindsey advised.
“I don't mind,” replied Darla. Me and Qiana also said the same thing. Since he was still tired of his long flight, we didn't want to bother him any longer. When Lindsey ended the relationship, the three of us were still chatting together.
“We couldn't possibly come empty-handed to his house. Do you guys have any suggestions we should bring what?” ask Darla.
“I'll bring cake. Lindsey loves chocolate cakes. I'll ask my chef to make it,” I replied. Darla and Qiana agreed.
“Then, I will bring each of our favorite drinks from our favorite coffee cafe,” said Qiana did not want to lose.
“Good. I'll bring you immature fruits and my really good-tasting homemade cocktails,” Darla said with a happy face. I and Qiana simultaneously felt our saliva rise imagining the sour-tasting fruit mixed with sweet and spicy spices.
After the call ended, I set an alarm on my phone so I wouldn't forget to bring the cake on the day of our arrival to Lindsey's house. I'm sure that I'll forget it if I don't record it well.
Just putting the phone on the table, it vibrated again. I read my sister's name on the screen. “Hai, Zach.” I say hello while checking the writing on my blog.
“Hai, Brother. Tomorrow is there time for me?” tanyakanya. I stopped reading and paid full attention to him. He doesn't usually ask me to meet.
“What time, where?” ask me without making small talk. He mentioned the name of a coffee cafe and the afternoon. A few days later, I planned to have dinner at my favorite restaurant. Zach just invited to meet at the coffee cafe means we will only eat snacks. A good plan. I immediately called the restaurant to reserve a place.
