The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 6 - I Just Want Him

The more she refused and was angry with me, the more challenged I was to get her love. I never missed a major event in his life. I send her gifts and flowers every time she has a birthday. I couldn't come on her graduation day because I was working out of town, so I just sent her presents, dolls, and flowers.

When Papa advised me to continue my studies abroad, I did not refuse. I still need to learn. Even though I knew that the girl would reject me outright, I still came and tried again. If the reaction of his friends is happy to see me coming, he's not. He was still cold to me.

My steps are heavy when I leave my homeland to study abroad. But I gave up my faith in time. If the girl was for me, she wouldn't have married until I got back. If she wasn't for me, then I'd be willing for her to marry the man who loves her.

And time is still on my side. I'm back and she's still dating that guy. They are not married yet. The man's confidence is very high, I have to take my hat off for that. I who have everything and can get everything I want just don't have that much confidence.

I just chuckled to see the girl who had stolen my heart grow into a very confident young woman. She's even more beautiful in her work clothes. He looked at me in disbelief as I came back and invited him to dinner.

As usual, his co-workers looked happy but he was cold to me. God, what can I do to get it? I want him to be mine.

The good way didn't work, so I used the more extreme way. I got her home phone number and called her parents. I am grateful that his father answered. The man sounded enthusiastic as I mentioned my full name and welcomed my desire to come to their home.

My mom and dad never doubted my choice. The two of them cheered happily as I expressed my desire to propose a girl to be my wife. They don't even care when their parents' names aren't familiar. I'm grateful they didn't force me to marry a girl from among us.

I will never forget the beauty of those eyes when round saw me standing in the doorway of his house. I just smiled seeing her looking at me dislikefully as our two parents introduced each other and became familiar quickly.

After dinner, I expressed my intention to marry their daughter. The girl's parents were welcoming but of course the girl immediately rejected me out of the blue. I saw both of his parents objecting to his attitude. Papa broke up and apologized on my behalf.

Whether this girl is blinded by love or she doesn't know who I really am, I admit that I'm surprised by her attitude. When another girl tried so hard to get my attention, she refused my love. When another woman scrambled to be my wife, she simply rejected my proposal.

“I would never have believed this to happen, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.” Papa laughed out loud. We were on our way home from the girl's house. My parents were sitting in the back seat laughing together, while I was next to Papa's private driver. “There is a girl who refuses to be my son's wife.”

“What have you done to him until he so dislikes you, son?” ask Mama not to believe. “Papa see, ‘kan, how was his expression earlier when welcoming us at his house?”

“Iya, yes.” Papa laughed again. “Newly this time I see people do not like our arrival. We are usually greeted with kindness and respect. Son, your mom was right. What have you done to that girl?”

“I'm happy to see Papa and Mama so happy when I'm sad.”.

“A girl who has been betrothed to a rich person just refuses to marry and prefers to be with you, how can an ordinary girl refuse the opportunity to be able to live comfortably with you?” Mama laughed a little.

“You better pick another girl. This one will never be yours, son.” Papa patted my shoulder. “She loves her lover very much.”

“If you keep this up, he'll hate you even more. There is no point in marrying someone who does not like us.” Mama gave advice.

“Mama don't worry. I know what I'm doing.”

The girl hated me even more but I did not regret my efforts. I'm serious with him, so why should I refrain from trying again?

I just got back from a trip out of town. I was climbing the stairs when Abdi told me that there was a woman named Zahara who asked to see me. My heart started to beat faster. The girl came to see me?

I invited the gate to open and requested that snacks and warm tea be served to her. I had to hurry to the room and clean myself up. I can't possibly meet him in such a tangled state.

After taking a shower and changing clothes as fast as I could, I immediately headed to the room where he was. I was stunned for a moment to see how beautiful she was in a white shirt and her long hair was left untouched.

I don't know what made him so angry with me, but he suspected that I had met or talked to his parents after the night of my arrival and my parents to their house. I don't like lying. Anyway I'm interested in him not his parents.

We had a big fight for the umpteenth time. But only that time he insulted my appearance. I realized that I was not physically attractive, but hearing those words coming out straight from the mouth of the girl I loved, broke my heart.

Maybe it's time I took a step back for a moment. Forcing my will to her would only make her hate me more and ruin my plans to marry her. I don't want to marry the girl who will hate me for the rest of her life.

“Nak, what have you done?” ask Papa who suddenly went into the dining room. Mom followed behind him. I knew they were attending a lunch invitation, followed by attending a wedding reception in the afternoon. Soon they are back.

“What have I done, Pa?” I clean my mouth with a napkin. A servant took my empty plate from in front of me. “Thank you.”

“Yousef called me and said that Zahara agreed to marry you,” Papa said in a tone of disbelief. I laughed hearing that.

“April mop is over, Pa. Don't joke.” My parents joke a lot and I don't mind being targeted by them.

“I'm serious. Can you also seriously respond to me?” Papa is now using serious voice intonation. I stopped laughing. I turned to look at Mama who was also looking at me with a serious face. “What do you want to do now? She has already rejected you, do you still want to marry her?”

If his father calls and talks directly to Papa, then the girl herself wants this. I don't care what the reason is that he changed his mind. I also don't care about all the words that hurt me earlier. I still want it.

Before she regretted her decision and changed her mind again, I asked my parents to immediately prepare for our marriage. As fast as they can. I don't want to give that girl a chance to run away from me again.
