The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 184 - Lying News

~Hendra~

Almost an hour into the trip, through heavy traffic on weekends, we finally arrived at Papa and Mama's house. The butler opened the door for us and led us to the living room.

Papa and Mama sat side by side on one sofa, then in front of them was a middle-aged man and woman. They must be Gista's parents. The man and Mama looked so tense, while Papa and Mama Gista looked like the ones who lost the war.

“Sit down, Hendra, Zahara,” said Papa who looked at us. I let my wife sit first, and then I sat by her side.

“You can't answer my questions yourself, so you invited your son to be your advocate. Is that so, Adhy? You can't answer a simple question, when did you first meet my wife?” ask papa Gista.

“I've answered it many times, on the day of our campus reunion. That was ten years ago. I remember it because you then invited me to attend Gista's seventeenth birthday party. What more answers do you want, Ken?” ask Dad in frustration.

“Then how can Gista be your daughter when you first met ten years ago?!” hardik papa Gista was upset.

“Gista is your biological daughter, Ken.” said Mama Gista. “What we do is very embarrassing. Your friend has never had anything to do with me and you have accused him haphazardly.”

“Prove that she is not your daughter,” said the man again. Papa laughed a little. He looked towards me and Zahara. “Why are you laughing?”

“I understand how you feel now, son. When your words are no longer believed and people only want to believe when there is evidence on a piece of paper. That's an unpleasant feeling.” Dad shook his head slowly. “First my wife, then now my best friend.”

“I'm sorry to interrupt.” I put an envelope on the table in front of Papa Gista. “Please read the results of this test. This is the proof Om asked for.”

The man I knew named Kenzie immediately took the envelope and took out the contents. It was a DNA test result between Dad and Gista. I immediately asked them to do it because I knew that we would need it.

Gista was very angry and embarrassed because he had to do the test. He apologized repeatedly for causing Papa's good name to be dragged along. We consider it common. Being a big guy is very risky and we are used to slander and scandals.

“The Mighty Adhyana's probability as the biological father of Gista Hariyani is zero percent.” Papa Gista read the conclusion of the test.

“You are sure that the test results are authentic and you did not manipulate?” ask Mama to me. I looked at him for a moment before giving an answer.

“I'm not Nora,” I said firmly. Mama immediately put on a dislike face when I mentioned that name. I don't give a shit. You need to know who that woman is and who I am. I tried to hold back my anger because I was tired of being accused of manipulating test results.

“Papa and Mama never taught me to be a liar and manipulative. The results of this test are carried out at our hospital. Mama knows for herself that every doctor and all his staff cannot be bribed. Therefore we trust them in helping us maintain the health of our family.” I looked at Mama without blinking.

“I'm sorry, Adhy,” Om Kenzie lowered his head, regretting his actions.

“You should apologize to Hagia. Your wife is most hurt because you have accused her of cheating.” Papa looked towards Mama. “Not being trusted by our own partner is very painful.”

“I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry.” Kenzie hugged his wife. They cry together. I'm sure over the last few days they've had a big fight since the issue spread across the news media.

The couple returned home after repeatedly apologizing to Mom and Dad. We stood on the terrace until the taxi they were riding in was nowhere to be seen again. My parents broke into the house, my wife and I followed them.

“You don't have to trust that test result. Just believe what your head and heart say. Or what Nora said,” Papa said as we sat together in the living room.

“Nora didn't say anything about this,” Mama said annoyedly. “Why do you keep blaming the girl every time I say my opinion?”

“Because you are not one to accuse your own family of doing such a bad thing. Hendra manipulated the DNA test results between me and Gista? Wh-wh-what for? I'm sure after seeing the results of this test, you still don't believe me.” Papa waved the envelope.

“Pa, forgive my sassness.” Za interrupted. I looked at him and looked at him confused. Since when did he call Papa with that word again? And Papa doesn't seem to mind. Did something happen on his arrival yesterday?

“Tante will have surgery the day after tomorrow. We'd better not make Aunt anxious or worried. Sorry, I don't mean to advise Papa,” said Za reluctantly. Papa smiles.

“No need to pretend to defend me. I can defend myself. What you did was very disrespectful by interrupting the parents who were talking,” Mama said angrily.

“I'm sorry, Auntie,” said Za slowly. I refrained from defending my wife. Mama will definitely get angry and it is not good for her health. Za's right. We have to keep the feeling of Mama. He will have a major surgery on Monday.

“Me and Za said goodbye, yes, Pa. Today we are free from children, so we want to enjoy the day alone.” I blinked one eye at Papa.

“Ah, of course, Nak.” Papa stood up as Za and I stood up. Mom still sits.

“I said goodbye, yes, Ma. Until Monday.” I hugged and kissed her cheek. He returned my embrace. That's a good sign. Even though he didn't apologize for accusing me earlier, I'll let this pass and not bring it up again.

Papa walked with us to the front door. This matter will soon pass, so I don't worry about anything anymore. At least, Gista's parents already knew that Papa was not the biological father of their daughter. Poor that girl. He had to be involved in our family drama.

“What about the source of the fake news? Did you know the guy?” ask Papa as soon as we stand together on the terrace.

“Iya. He's the same guy who's been protecting Vivaldo from police pursuit.” He was so close, but I didn't realize it. I focused instead on the three people who had been doing evil to us all this time.

“What do you mean? Hasn't he been arrested?” ask Papa confused.

“Iya. But he still kept his mouth shut about the people he was involved with in the massive corruption case that ensnared him. He will be jailed long enough plus the attempted murder he has committed.” I grabbed my wife's shoulder.

“Attempted killing?” ask Papa to worry. The news was deliberately shut down from the media because I didn't want to focus them back on me and Za. The police also agreed to remain focused on the corruption case that Vivaldo has been doing for a while.

“At Za's birthday party, she just suddenly shows up and tries to hurt him. Ara managed to help him. Papa don't worry.” I smile. Papa looked sad.

“Yes, God. What was my mistake in the past so that my children were getting into trouble in their lives?” Papa rubbed his face with his hands. “I don't understand all the things that happened lately.”

“This is not Papa's fault. We allow those people into our lives. Vivaldo, Nora, and Dicky. Unfortunately, we do not know that they can do evil to get their wish.” I lifted both my shoulders.

“So, who among the three of them has slandered me?” ask Papa to know.
