The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 191 - Home

“Darling, I've heard so many evil things that she can do to get what she wants. He even hurt my son and daughter-in-law, insulted my two grandchildren, and played around with our reputation. Any news regarding him and his parents has not surprised me anymore.” Papa looked at Mama casually.

“I was surprised to see you still believe and side with him.” Papa shook his head slowly. “He brought you a steak, it is proof that he is not sincerely watching you. And everything was clearer when he wasn't here with us.”

“You must feel winning now.” Mama put on a pouting face. “I just gave him a chance to prove that he can change as he promised. I didn't know that he wasn't a trustworthy person.” Papa grunts quietly.

The door was knocked, and a woman came in and placed a tray on the wheeled table in front of Mama. We are all grateful to him. There's a bowl of fruit and juice for Mama. I poured salad dressing so Mama could enjoy the fruit.

Watching for a while, Mama fell asleep. Papa shifted the table carefully, while I tidied up the dishes and cutlery we used earlier. I went out of the room for a moment to call Mama and ask about Dira. I was relieved to hear that he was doing well and enjoying his time with his grandfather, grandmother and beloved dog.

A few minutes past twelve in the afternoon, Mama woke up and we ate together. He looked very happy to be able to eat food made by our chef and not made by the hospital. My father and I laughed at him. As long as your mood is good, recovery can take place quickly.

Half an hour later a nurse came and gave the medicine to you to drink. And for the first time, I met with a special guide to help Mama do light exercise. The mother is asked to take a slow deep breath and exhale it slowly.

I watched very well what they both did. What is the first, second, third, and last movement. There are a total of four different movements that Mama does which they refer to as light exercise. Each move is required to be made ten times.

“At the time of returning home later, this movement needs to be done routinely so that postoperative recovery takes place faster. So, someone needs to help Naava and remind her about this gymnastics. Doctors still give pain medication, so half an hour after this exercise can be done so that the pain is not too pronounced.” The woman answered my question.

“I will faithfully accompany my wife until she recovers, don't worry.” Papa blinked his eyes at Mama.

“Six times is enough. I'll be back again after dinner.” The woman was pampered. We simultaneously thanked him.

“How are you doing, baby?” ask Papa who rubbed Mama's hand.

“I'm tired and sleepy. Though only doing small movements.” said Mama slowly. We let Mama sleep and do our own thing. Papa watches television, while I type with my laptop.

Keeping their promise, that afternoon friends came to see Mama. Darla called me first to make sure that Mama was awake. They don't want to interrupt their break.

Mama is happy to see the variety of fresh fruits and flowers they bring. Friends shared funny stories so that Mama did not think too much about the operation she just had. Claudia and Mason leave first to go to the airport. They will return to America tonight.

The next day, I arrived early. I can meet with the two doctors who handle Mama. Surgeon and oncologist. The surgeon gave us instructions on when it was appropriate to remove the fluid in the container they installed near the hose on your left chest. Because there is still fluid released by the body, the hose may still be used when Mama returns home. He asked us to pour the liquid on the measuring cup and take note of it before disposing of the liquid.

The doctor asked us to pay attention whenever the nurse came to take care of Mama and what needs to be done. Because we will continue the task when Mama is treated at home later. Hendra's right. Preparation ahead of the operation is nothing when compared to the hassles of the recovery period.

Three days in the hospital, Mama was allowed to go home and continue treatment at home. I helped pack Papa and Mama's personal belongings, while Hendra took care of everything that had to do with the administration.

A nurse helps push your wheelchair and drives you to the car. Papa moved Mama carefully from the seat to the back seat of the car. I smiled at how beautiful they were. Papa's driver took the bag from me and put it in the trunk.

Hendra and I followed them home. My husband asked Kafin to stop by a flower shop. We bought a bouquet of red roses. Mama was always jealous whenever Hendra gave me flowers, so she wanted to please her mother. I just found out that Mama loves red roses too.

My mother, father, and my two children welcomed us. My mother-in-law was sitting in a chair in the living room. He did not want to be in his room. We accompanied him in conversation. I smiled seeing my parents and in-laws able to talk casually. Mama still looks to keep her distance, but she didn't throw us away is a good development.

Hadi and Dira stared at their grandparents every time they spoke. My mom and dad are not familiar to them. They know my parents better. So, I understood why they were looking at the two with curious gazes.

We went home after dinner and Hendra helped carry Mama to her room. I reminded Papa about the light gymnastics that Mama needs to do. He laughed as he pushed me and Hendra out of the room.

“I know what I should do. Y'all gohome. It's time for us to make out.” My husband and I laughed when I heard it.

I asked Liando to drive Papa and Mama home, while we went home with Kafin. The children fell asleep in the car, so we had no trouble putting them to sleep in their own rooms. After helping Dira to clean up and change her clothes, I went into the room and Hendra was using the bathroom.

I was just about to put the phone on the nightstand when it vibrated. Official names and photos filled the screen. I smiled as I touched the green phone symbol. I greeted him and he replied with a happy cheer.

“Son, I'm so happy for you! This will be an important year for us. Finally, we made it too!” he said screech happily.

“What do you mean, Official? Can you stop screaming? What happened?”
