Stupid me. Why would I ask such a question on their first date? How'this? What if he changes his mind and is no longer interested in Will? Lepin, drugged. Will would be so mad at me if he found out.
“Mother, did you not know that being able to go abroad is a dream of many? Vacationing there alone is difficult to get his VISA. If you can go there after marrying Mr. Lewis it is a gift, Mom!” She placed both her hands on her cheeks and looked at me with happy eyes. Oh, geez. He was silent not because he regretted his words but because he was surprised. I sighed softly. It makes me shocked to death.
“I know the risk of marrying a stranger is staying away from my family. That's why Brother Arga likes to mock because I'm so spoiled at home. She wasn't sure that I could afford to live away from family.” He shook his head slowly.
“It looks like you like Will,” I confirm. Face blushing.
“He's a good man, a great father, who wouldn't like him? He was also very polite as we chatted on the wedding anniversary of Mother and Mr. Mahendra.” She blushed. Waw. This was the first time I had fought people and it worked. I am talented too.
“We'd better get back now before my senewen husband looks for me.” I rolled my eyeballs. Gista laughed a little.
Our drinks were delivered when we got back to the table. Hendra and Will talk about something that has to do with recent political developments. An uninteresting topic. My husband kissed my cheek as soon as I sat by his side. I looked at him in wonder.
“You were a long time in the bathroom. I almost stood up to find out what happened in the greeting there until you didn't come back either,” he said in a worried tone.
“You don't seem to know what happens when two women are talking alone.” I looked at Gista meaningfully. He's laughing a little. Then I blinked one eye at Hendra.
“You know that I only know a little Indonesian. Can you speak in a language I can understand during dinner?” Will looked at us suspiciously. “Because somehow my heart says that you guys are talking about me.”
“Alright, Will. You don't have to suspect that. All we talked about was a good thing.” I'm laughing a little. “My husband once said that you only contracted for a few years working here. Is there a chance you will return to America?”
“My contract is only five years and can be extended if I still want to be placed here. I have no plans to go back there anytime soon. But when Colin turns eighteen and graduates from High School, he has the right to decide where he wants to live. If the school still wants me, I'll keep working here.” Will occasionally looks at Gista as if he wants to tell the girl about his long-term plans to live in Indonesia.
“You don't miss your hometown? You were away from family for so long.” Gista asked now. I looked towards Hendra. He shook his head slowly so I wouldn't interrupt their conversation.
“We do not have a strong bond with you who still live with parents despite working. I've been out of the house since college. We only get together on Thanksgiving or Christmas, also on certain events like wedding, death, or if anyone is celebrating a birthday.” Will shrugged his shoulders. “So, staying away from them is not a problem.”
“You're right. I watch your movies and usually eighteen-year-old teenagers live independently and no longer live with their parents.” Gista nodded in understanding.
“How about you? Can you live far away from your family?” will asked to know.
Will and Gista didn't even glance at me as I was ready to wash my hands in the sink. I'm laughing a little. Hendra caught up with me later. We met in the corridor near the toilet and watched the two kasmaran. He's embracing me. I approached and placed my head on his chest.
Even on the way home, they were still busy talking. Hendra and I exchanged meaningful views. I smile at the smile. When my husband and I were getting drunk on romance, we were married, so we celebrated by making love in bed, in the bathtub, not by talking. Well, why am I even thinking about this? We're still fasting.
Arriving in front of Gista's house, Will behaves like a real man who opens the door for her, then takes her to the fence. A man came out to open the lock. I chuckled at Arga smiling meaningfully as she looked at Gista and Will in turn. Recalling what Gista said in the toilet earlier, I immediately understood the meaning of her brother's gaze.
“Thank you, friends. I really appreciate what you guys did for me today!” will said with a happy smile. “I'll need your help again tomorrow. Can I leave Colin so I can meet Gista?”
“Again?” I just don't believe it. She laughs.
“Iya. I'm asking her to meet tomorrow. He agreed and gave me his phone number. I wanted to bring my son along too, but this was our first meeting without anyone. I want us to be able to freely talk about ourselves before I involve Colin in our relationship.”
“Connect? You guys are still dating, Will, no relationship yet.” I rectified.
“OK, okay. But you understand what I mean.”
“I don't need to remind you to be careful, ‘kan, Will?” said Hendra. We both looked at him confused. “Your closeness will affect their professionalism. I don't want to regret meeting you tonight. So, don't hurt the girl.”
“I won't hurt him or let you down. I-i promise. We might have a fight or a misunderstanding, but I promise you the matter will be over before I take her home. I'm also sure that he's old enough not to bring personal problems into his job,” Will said earnestly. Waw. He really loves Gista. That girl is very lucky.
“You must also keep your word from bringing him back to your country. If that school doesn't extend your contract, you should find another job here. Gista had just started her job as my secretary. I don't want to find new people anymore,” said Hendra firmly.
“I plan to introduce him to my family on Thanksgiving, I hope you don't mind giving him a month off,” Will said. There was a hopeful tone to his voice. I looked at my husband, waiting for his answer.
“One month? Why so long?” asked Hendra astonished. He was still focused on looking towards the road.
“Because I plan to have our wedding there too,” Will replied casually. Hendra pulled over and stopped his car. We both turned to the back seat towards Will.
“What?!”
