The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 36 - Not Getting Home

After breakfast, I feel better. I decided to take a shower and get ready to go to the hospital. I was wearing one of the blue dresses with floral motifs and flat-heeled sandals with a rope that I tied around my ankle. I made sure that the wallet, cell phone, phone charger, and car keys were in the bag.

“Where are you going?” There was a sound on the doorstep of the clothing room.

“I want to accompany Mama. Papa definitely needs to go home for a while to pick up something at home, so there's only me who can replace him.” I put the bag on my shoulder. “I can't possibly ask your mama to go to the hospital, ‘kan?”

“But, baby, you're not well.” Hendra approached me and held both of my hands. His eyes looked at my face intently.

“I'm fine. After breakfast earlier, I was no longer nauseous or dizzy.” I smiled to convince her. “Hen, I can't possibly leave Papa alone.” I could see he was struggling with his own thoughts.

“Good. I'll take you to the hospital. Later after driving me to the office, Kafin will be with Papa until Papa returns to the hospital again. And you'll be home with Kafin.” I opened my mouth to express my opinion, he immediately continued, “I will not allow you to drive in this situation.”

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to change his mind, I relented. He held my hand until we were in the car. He would be too late if he had to go to the hospital first, but I didn't say anything. Sherry contacted him many times is proof that she had an important appointment this morning.

He looked at his phone while shaking his head, then embracing my shoulder. I smiled at him. He pulled me closer and kissed my temple. “Are you okay? No dizziness or nausea?” tanyakanya.

“I'm fine.” I tidied up the position of the tie and then rubbed the suit.

“I'll pick you up at lunchtime. We'd better check on you this afternoon. Tonight you can immediately rest and do not need to wait for me to come home.” he said slowly. “What do you think?”

“Good.” I replied according.

When we arrived at the hospital, Hendra accompanied me until I met Papa in front of the ICCU room. Because Mama's condition is stable, Mama will soon be transferred to the inpatient room. Hendra accompanied Papa in administration, while I was asked to wait in the sitting room.

Not long after, they return only to convey that everything is in order. Hendra hugged and kissed me before leaving with Papa. I was sitting for a while when a nurse came and told me Mama's room number.

She told me which elevator to take and I followed her directions to the room where Mama was. I was not surprised to see the type of room Hendra chose. My mom was in a pretty big room. I checked the clean and comfortable bathroom. There was a sofa, a table, a flat-sailing television, a cabinet, a nightstand, and a wardrobe.

“I'm actually fine. Can't I go home yet?” ask Mama with a cheerful face. “Food in this hospital is not tasty.” I laughed hearing that.

“That's healthy food for Mama.” I sat on the edge of the bed. “Doctor said, if your condition is stable, you only need to be treated for two days. Maybe tomorrow you can go home. So, Mama enjoy it first. After all the house is being renovated, it is less convenient to stay there now.”

“Kata Hendra, the house will be ready this afternoon. They can work faster because there will be no occupants at home for two days.” Mama's eyes twinkled as she mentioned her daughter-in-law's name.

“Good. Tomorrow you can rest comfortably. Don't forget all the doctors advice. Although the condition of Mama is stable, Mama must take care of health, must not be negligent again,” I said reminded.

Two hours later, Papa came in fresher and had already changed his clothes. He carried a bag and I helped to get the contents out and neatly arranged them in the closet and the nightstand.

We talked quietly until Mom fell asleep. Papa and I chose to watch the television show he chose and talk as necessary so that Mama could rest in peace. Given how messed up I was this morning, I was surprised that I was fine and didn't feel dizzy or nauseous anymore.

Mama wakes up when a woman walks into her room and brings her lunch. I received the tray after saying thank you. Mama looked at me for mercy, but I could do nothing. You cannot eat anything other than what the hospital gives you.

His face then turned cheerful as Hendra came to bring him a bouquet of lilies, a basket of fresh fruits, and a food box. He put all his luggage on the nightstand, then hugged Mama tightly. I turned to Papa and smiled meaningfully as Mama ate voraciously in front of her daughter-in-law.

“I'll take my wife to lunch with me, I hope Papa and Mama don't mind.” Hendra stood by my side and wrapped his hands around my waist.

“Of course not. We'll both be fine here. Go,” Mama said cheerfully.

“I bought food for Papa, don't forget to spend, Pa,” Hendra told Papa.

“Thank you, Son. I will eat it later,” Papa said with a smile on his face.

We got out of the room and headed for the elevator. Hendra has made an appointment with an obstetrician who is in this hospital. I was grateful when we arrived, we didn't need to queue and could get into the practice room immediately.

I was asked to take a urine and blood test first. Waiting for the result, Hendra invited me to lunch at the hospital cafeteria. I was a little surprised when I saw my portion of food increase. He just laughed a little.

“You are now eating for two, don't think about weight. Eat.” He gave the last piece of chicken to the top of my plate. I didn't refuse because I was hungry.

The doctor smiled as we returned to his room. She gave the good news that my condition was healthy, as was the fetus in my womb. He asked me so many questions about my life habits and everything related to my health. Once I found out that the chances of us making it were on my birthday, I started to worry.

Hendra held my hand when I asked about the pregnancy-preventing medication I was taking. The doctor asked about the frequency of the drug. Knowing that I didn't drink it every day, she said that my fetus would be fine. Regular checkups will help if something happens to my baby. I was a little relieved to hear his explanation.

When he allowed me to lie on the bed in the room, my heart was pounding more. I knew the device in front of me. Hendra sat down beside me and held my hand as the doctor began the examination.

He poured the cold gel and started moving an object that could be seen on a screen near my head. He looked for the little guy while half-joking to us. I knew he was just trying to reduce the tension I was feeling.

When he found it, I could see nothing but black and white patches on the screen. Hendra and I laughed because we had the same problem. The doctor showed the exact position of our baby candidate on the screen. We still can't see it. He said that it was normal because the size was still small.

After shaking the doctor's hand and thanking him, we walked out of his practice room. Hendra smiled holding all the results of my examination that were put in an envelope. He took my hand and took me to the car. She looks so happy now, we're really pregnant.
