The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 205 - Error

Ara stood between me and Gerhard with a roaring face. He barked so loudly followed by his angry growl. I've never seen him that angry before. Ara is a kind and friendly dog to everyone.

“What is this, Zahara? Why is there a dog in this house?” ask Gerhard to panic. He just stood still on the spot, not daring to move. “Go. Go from here.” He swung the bag he was carrying so that Ara could not get close to him.

“Ara, calm yourself. Good girl should not be rude to anyone.” I held the necklace on her neck and rubbed the fine hair on her head. But he still barked furiously and growled fearfully. “Down, Gerhard. There's no need to be afraid. Ara never bit anyone. I'll hold him.”

“Doctor Gerhard,” call Papa who is carrying Dira. “Ara will not bite. Please come over here. There are snacks also drinks for Doctor.”

“Ti-no. I have to go to the next hospital. Th-thank you. See you later.” Gerhard immediately darted away while Ara was still barking at him. The butler was ready to help open the door, then shut it again.

What the hell is going on? Why is Ara so angry with Gerhard? He didn't do anything to harm us in this house. He just came to check on Mama, then came out. He also did nothing to harm me.

Seeing his behavior, I remembered his attitude when facing Vivaldo. He bit his ankle until the man let me out of his grip. But this time it was different. Gerhard was coming down the stairs with me, why was he scolding her?

When the roar of Gerhard's car was far from the front of the house, then Ara stopped growling. He turned his head towards me to enjoy the rubbing of my hand on his head. This is his true nature. Loving, spoiled, and cheerful. What was it until he turned violent?

“You okay?” ask Papa. I looked up towards the top floor. Hopefully, Mama is not bothered to hear Ara's barking.

“I'm fine, Pa,” I replied as I descended the stairs. Ara followed me towards the living room while wagging her tail.

“What happened until Ara barked so hard at Doctor Gerhard?” ask Papa confused. He closed the door and sat down next to me.

“I don't know either, Pa.” I rubbed the head of Ara who put her head on my lap. “What's wrong with you, huh? Why are you suddenly so fierce? Gerhard did nothing that could jeopardize my life.”

“Happy your life? You mean, when he saved you from Vivaldo?” ask Papa. I'm nodding. Dira who sat between us also rubbed Ara's head. “What did you and Gerhard do? You sure he didn't give the impression of wanting to hurt you?”

“We're just talking, Pa. No, he didn't do anything that could hurt me,” I replied slowly. Papa nodded slowly. His originally worried face looked relieved.

“We were playing when he suddenly growled and started to fidget. He acted as if there was a bad person coming to the house. Then he suddenly barked so hard and ran to the door. I just saw a dog open the doorknob right away. Did you guys train him?” ask Papa in admiration.

“No, Pa. He learned it himself. But he could only open the knob of the opened door by pressing down or turning. He could not open the door with a special knob. So we have to lock the door if we don't want any intruders coming into the room while we're sleeping.” I gently squeezed Ara's face with anxiety.

“Ara is indeed a smart dog,” praise Papa. Ara barked happily at her name. “What happened to your mom? Why does he need his doctor's presence?”

“Mama feels pain in her left chest. The doctor said it was normal. As long as the pain can be overcome with medication, then there is nothing to worry about,” I replied. “She checks your blood pressure, blood sugar, and breathing. All results are normal.”

Papa smiles. “He must have deliberately called the doctor and made up an excuse so that the two of you could meet.” I thought the same thing, but I just kept my mind to myself.

“I'm worried about Mama's situation. Is Mama okay, Pa? Since the operation, I have never seen Mama grieve,” I asked slowly.

“Why are you worried to see he never grieves?” Papa asked back.

“Not at all. I sometimes see him thinking to himself, but it's a normal thing. Just one thing makes me a little awkward. Your mama didn't tell anyone the reason she didn't attend a charity event or participate in their social activities.”

“Ah, that's why only me and my friends came to see Mama in the hospital. Our close friends or family do not,” I said understand.

“True. I consider him normal because he is not a person who likes to be pitied. So, I also didn't tell anyone without his permission.” Papa seemed to think for a moment. “If the attitude is a bit strange, I will inform you soon. I'm starting to understand why you feel worried.”

“Thank you, Pa. We go home, yes, Pa, so Papa can rest.” Papa nodded, then drove us all the way to the terrace. Ara barked happily as she got into the car.

“He doesn't believe seeing him can be as good as earlier.” Papa shook his head. I agree with his opinion.

Having not stopped by the flower shop for a long time, I asked Sakti to stop for a moment at my subscription store. Lilies and serunis are my choice. The owner of the store invited me to talk for a moment while my chosen flowers were being prepared by his employees.

Hadi and Colin immediately welcomed our arrival. Ara was being nice by not jumping into her master's body. Hadi can fall flat on his back not strong enough to withstand the weight of the adult body Ara. They took a shower and changed clothes. We gathered in the living room and I accompanied them to play until my dear husband came home.

“I hope you don't forget your promise, Hendra. This Saturday we will have a double date,” Will said when he and Colin returned home. His son was already asleep in his arms, tired of playing with Hadi and Dira all afternoon in the park near our house.

“I did not forget. Please look your best, we'll see. Will Gista be interested in you. You better prepare yourself if he shows signs of dislike,” said Hendra seriously.

“He will probably be a little expensive selling on the first date. But he won't reject me, Hendra.” Will seemed very confident. I laughed at their discussion.

The children were being nice by not resisting as I invited them to sleep in their own rooms. I helped Dira and after a long time, I read her a storybook. He usually fell asleep as soon as he lay in his bed.

Seeing that Hendra was not in the room, I used the opportunity to take a shower and change clothes. She entered the bathroom to brush her teeth while I was drying. I chuckled as he looked at my body from head to toe.

“Remember, we are still fasting, dear.” He laughed as I said that while closing the door. I like to hear his happy laugh.

Moments later, Hendra came out of the bathroom in his shorts. Was he not afraid of being cold all night when he was just wearing it? But I just kept quiet. If she thought I would be tempted and tormented by her appearance, she was wrong.

“Ara did something strange today.” I put out the lights on the nightstand, then lay down. Hendra did the same.

“What did my girl do?” he asked while pulling my body closer to him. I rolled my eyeballs hearing him treat the dog like a human being.

“He barked so hard as he growled towards Gerhard. He was never rude to anyone. Do you think she needs another injection?” manyworry. He even laughed out loud. “Honey! I'm talking seriously.”

“Ara is fine. He has done his job well.” He's still laughing.

“Tasks? What task?” my question does not understand.
