The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 39 - Taking Him Off

I just smiled at Hendra's every piece of advice. For three days he kept reminding me of the same thing. What things I can do and what I can't do, the foods I should eat and the ones I should avoid, the emotions I maintain and the ones I should throw away, so that me and the little guy are okay.

Understanding the timelessness he felt, I did not refute all of his words. I just follow and listen to it. This is our first pregnancy and our first experience of being a prospective parent of our baby. But he had to go away for two weeks because of work and left me.

Abdi went into the room and picked up Hendra's suitcase from the bed. He left the room and took the suitcase with him. Hendra approached me, wrapped his hands around my body, then kissed my lips. I smiled back at his kiss.

Hendra did not stop there. He asked to come in, so I allowed him. As she deepened her kiss and raised something on my body, I began to feel uneasy. But I don't want him to stop it either. I kissed her with the same intensity. We are like two people starving for each other.

The kiss the more I wanted it. Imagining I wouldn't be able to feel her touch for the next few days, I began to panic. No. gabe. How can I sleep without him by my side? Now I understand how my husband feels. I also don't want him to go so long and that far from me.

Whahuh? No. gabe. Waita minute. What was I thinking? I don't want this. I don't want this kiss, her hug, or her touch. Then why am I hugging her neck so tightly unwilling to let go of me? Why would I kiss her back and let her keep kissing me? And why now do I want to feel her skin touch my skin?

“No, dear.” Hendra tried to keep his face away, but with my hand on his neck, it was easy for me to bring our lips back together. “I have to go now. I want you but I can't be late.”

As much as I could, I pulled away from him. Our breath is hunting. Hendra put his forehead on my forehead as we tried to catch our breath again. I closed my eyes as he stroked my cheek. What am I feeling about this? Is it because I'm pregnant?

Hendra grabbed my hand as we walked out of the room and up to the front door. Kafin has parked my husband's car in front of the house. Abdi said Hendra's suitcase had been loaded into the trunk of the car. I felt his hand getting tighter.

He looked towards me. I smile. He hugged me again. “Two weeks. It was so long,” complained slowly. I stroked his back.

“We can make phone calls every morning and night. After all, if you have finished your business, you can go home anytime. Yes ‘kan?” I tried to cheer him up. He tightened his embrace.

“This is Xavier, baby. You know he's a very detailed person and wouldn't like to do something in a hurry,” lamented again. I'm laughing a little.

“I'll be fine,” my words calm him down. Then whisper, “So does the little one.” I felt him kissing my neck.

“Forgive yourself,” he said slowly. I'm nodding.

“I promise,” I said.

Hendra kissed my lips once more, just a short kiss before we each set fire to each other. Then reluctantly, he let go of his embrace. He rushed into the car. I drove her away with a wave of mine.

This afternoon, I will be eating with Qiana and Darla. I glanced at my watch and decided to get ready. I don't have enough time to write anything on my blog right now. I chose to wear one of my plain blue dresses and blend it with a short-sleeved white blazer. I was wearing one of those white shoes that wasn't too high.

Being lazy to do my hair, I just let it run over my back. After putting my wallet, cell phone, makeup kit bag, and one tissue pack into my bag, I came out of the room. I told Abdi that I would not have dinner at home when he opened the door for me. I let them rest first.

Darla's waiting at the table that's been booked for us. I immediately hugged and kissed both of her cheeks. Just a minute later, Qiana came with a happy smile on her face. We took turns hugging and kissing her.

Even though Lindsey couldn't make it to our regular meetings, we went ahead with the plan and met the three of us. We ordered each meal, then while we waited, we discussed the progress of our activities. I was always amazed by the social activities my friends did.

Sometimes I accompanied Mama to do one of the routine social activities she held. We visited one of the orphanages with so many children's clothes, books, school supplies, toiletries, all in a new condition. Mama also brought healthy food to be enjoyed by them.

I can't see that sight. Sitting down to eat with them, listening to them tell stories, makes me sad. I wonder in my heart, why would a parent be willing to throw away their own child? Children are well-behaved, polite, and easy to love. They are the kind of kids that will make their parents feel proud.

The phone in my bag was shaking. Darla and Qiana simultaneously looked at me and smiled meaningfully. I laughed at their facial expressions. Hendra knew that I was currently with my friends but he made a phone call. I decided not to look for a quiet place and answered a call from him on my seat.

“Hai, Hen,” my cow. I kept my phone away from me so my friends could also join in our conversation. “We're eating ice cream. You want?”

“Hai, Hendra,” greet Qiana and Darla simultaneously. Husband laughs.

“Hai, beautiful girls,” reply. “You're being nice to my woman, ‘kan?”

“She won't laugh that happy if we don't treat her well,” Darla replied. I laughed hearing that. “You'll be leaving soon?”

“Iya. Soon boarding,” replied Hendra who was silent for a moment. “I just want to see my wife's face for a while before I get on the plane.”

“Hopefully your flight is smooth,” I said to him.

“Iya, darling. Thank you.” He went back to being quiet for a moment. It seemed like the sound of the announcement was directed at him. “I have to go now. Till later. I love you.” I didn't have to reply to that sentence because he had already ended the call.

I looked at Darla and she was taking something out of her bag. And Qiana too. The two of them checked their respective phones, then sighed together dramatically. I laughed and understood their meaning.

“Stop teasing me,” I said slowly.

“Don't call, my husband doesn't even want to just text me.” Qiana put her phone back in the bag.

“Moreover my husband. It was just a dream.” Darla did the same. He then put his bag back to the side of his seat. I just shook my head.

Hearing the sound of subtle vibrations, we exchanged glances. Not cellphone. Darla took her bag back and opened it. I and Qiana looked at him, curious to know who was contacting him. Darla laughs and then puts the phone away so we can see the screen together.

“Haaii.!” greet Lindsey with a happy voice. We return her greeting with the same happiness. “I can't come, doesn't mean I can't join our meeting.”

We exchanged stories with Lindsey. But the story must be more interesting, so we crowd it with a lot of questions. He recounted his son's pleasant graduation atmosphere, dinner with his friendly daughter-in-law's family, as well as the shopping paradise he visited with his future daughter-in-law.

Qiana immediately reminded him to always bring a list from her wherever he went. We just laughed when we heard it. Darla does not give him any list but lets Lindsey show him a photo of some items he thinks are good. If Darla likes it, then she'll buy it. Unlike them, I don't want anything. The things I have are too much.
