The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 148 - The Happy Day of my Friend

How the past can continue to pursue to the detriment of the life that has been painstakingly built in the present is beyond my reasoning. I've seen a lot of tears spill on my best friend's face when her husband cheated on her and she got pregnant. Their marriage was on the edge but they survived.

It was not easy for Qiana to build up her love and trust after the betrayal committed by Helmut. Twenty-five years is not a fool-proof number. No one needs to say it, we also know that there is no perfect marriage. But the woman had absolutely no right to stand there and ruin my best friend's happy day.

“Six years ago,” said the woman started her attack, but the microphone was off. Me, Lindsey, Darla, and Claudia seemed to have the same idea as we half ran towards the stage straight towards Nidya.

The host snatched the microphone back from his hand, me and my best friend pushed Nidya backstage. The security guard had arrived, so we handed him over to them. The woman protested loudly, but no one cared about her. He was dragged out and the four of us smiled in satisfaction.

We patted our palms against each other, proud of what we had just done. “We'd better get back now. Who knows there are other troublemakers trying to ruin the show.” Darla took us out to enter through the front door.

“Where are we going?” claudia asked confusedly. Darla realized her mistake and said back to her sentence in English.

I breathed a sigh of relief seeing the event still belonged to Helmut and Qiana. They are now singing their favorite song. Helmut with her beautiful voice, while Qiana assisted the background singer to cover the flaws in her voice.

We stood near the entrance, waiting until they finished singing. We didn't want to distract the invitation by walking in the middle of the hall towards our table. As applause filled the hall, we walked back to our seats.

The couple sat in their place between my desk and Lindsey's. Qiana moved her lips in a thank you sentence. Darla and I smiled as we nodded our heads. The event went smoothly and everyone enjoyed the entertainment and food events that were still abundant at the serving table.

“Basic shameless women,” maki Darla when we gathered together after the event.

“Do you have no other vocabulary besides, Darla?” Lindsey laughed.

“Please, speak a language I can understand,” Claudia reminded. We laughed. Too ordinary with his presence, we often forget that he is not fluent in Indonesian. Qiana translated what Darla and Lindsey had said earlier.

“You've gone crazy, but I'm very grateful for what you've done.” Qiana laughed amusedly.

“Do you guys invite him? How did he get in?” many confused. Qiana and Helmut were not an ordinary couple, so for security reasons, the only ones who could enter the hall to attend the event were those who carried the invitation.

“We couldn't have invited him. The security guard must be inattentive, so he can enter through the backstage,” guess Qiana. Reason that makes sense.

“We'd better go home now. The kids are asleep.” Hendra turned to Hadi who was already sound in his car. “We still have a lot of time together at the holiday event later.”

“Oh! I can't wait anymore!” Claudia cheers happy. “I've seen photos of the places you mentioned. I would love to see it live!”

On a family vacation this month, Hendra and I decided to spend it with our friends. Zach and Rasmi will also be coming with their son. After a long argument, Hendra finally allowed his sister-in-law to take a week off. Officially it is not difficult to leave because he is a vice president.

I laid Dira on her bed, then let Hendra change her clothes. He asked me to get ready for bed. Seeing Ara looking at me with a clear face, I relented. I lifted her body and placed it on my daughter's bed. He circled around Dira's feet before curling up and closing his eyes.

Just a few steps towards the door, I felt a pain in my stomach. I stopped for a second. I took a slow breath until the pain subsided. I seem to be pushing myself too much today. I couldn't sleep last night and today I didn't have a day off. But from tomorrow I can rest. There are still four days before going on vacation.

The pain was gone, I approached the door that opened from the outside. Hendra smiled at me. He held the door so I could get out, and then he went into the room. I put some cream on my face and rubbed a lotion on my hand as Hendra walked into our room.

“Do you want me, baby?” I half whispered.

“Always,” he replied without opening his eyes. “But not tonight. We're both exhausted. Tomorrow morning, yes.”

“Appointment?” my door. He promise.

Whether it was because I was exhausted or his promise to give my request when we woke up early, I slept soundly without any more nightmares. I woke up with short kisses on my face. It seemed like she also knew that I needed some time to recover after the abuse committed by the two men a few days ago.

Hendra treated me gently considering my condition which was young pregnant. But after feeling heaven with her, I had to go through hell by exercising with her and the kids that morning. We chatted for a while to see Will and Colin also in the park. He closed the conversation with humor.

I was accompanying Dira and Ara playing when the television screen changed and showed the latest news. The news anchor said Vivaldo held a press conference to make an important announcement. Then the screen was filled with his face sitting with a microphone in front of him and several microphones labeled television stations on the table.

My hand clenched as he presumptuously mentioned that Hadi was his biological son by showing evidence on a piece of paper that reinforced his statement. Scoundrel. He's really not human. It's just me he dragged. Why should he bring my son too? Who did he pay to make those fake test results?

The pain was back in my stomach. I'm suffocating stifled. Relax, Za. Calm yourself. I took a deep breath so that the pain would soon subside. Dira looked at me with a worried face. The woman who came every day cleaning the apartment also came to me immediately.

“Mistress, is Madam okay? Do I need to call Mister?” tanyanya's worried.

“No. Don't.” The pain began to subside. “Please, get me a glass of warm water.”

“Mama.” Dira stood up and hugged me. I returned his embrace and the pain disappeared. I kissed my daughter's face until she laughed.

“Thank you, baby. My mom to Dira.” His embrace calms me.

“Say Mama.” He kissed my cheek.

I tried to calm myself down after drinking a glass of warm water. Hendra must have heard the news and did not remain silent. Vivaldo declared war not only on me and my husband, but also on my friends. He would regret having ignored the warning they gave him at the airport.

Hendra was normal by the time he got home from work. He did not mention the news that was being talked about at all. Realizing that my friends didn't make a video call to discuss it must have something to do with my husband. He wants to solve this problem without my knowledge.

That night, I enjoyed hugging and kissing her. We laughed together before we went to sleep. This guy is too good for me. Trouble after trouble came in his life because of me. But he never once complained or blamed me for it. For the second time, I did not dream in my sleep.

“Honey, wake.” I felt a touch on my shoulder. Someone stroked my face and wiped my hair behind my ears. But my eyes are heavy. “I don't want to wake you up, but you're not doing well, baby. Build.”

“Ng, what's up? I'm still sleepy.” I squirmed softly and fell silent as I felt pain in my stomach. “Hendra?” I opened my eyes. “My stomach hurts.”

“We're going to the hospital, yes.” He kissed my forehead. I looked at him confused.

“A-what happened?” His attitude made my heart start pounding. He helped me to sit down. I looked at my stomach and found a red spot on the bed that scared me. “No.”
