The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 8 - Friends

Confused about having to convey what was interesting about my boring marriage and personal life, my phone vibrated. I took it out of the bag. All three of my friends smiled meaningfully at the name on the screen. They told me to go and answer the call. I rushed to the alley near the toilet. The atmosphere is quieter there.

“Halo,” my sap.

“Hai, darling. I must have interrupted your lunch with your friends,” regretted Hendra. I smiled hearing his voice.

“It's okay. You saved me.” I sigh in relief to dramatize.

“Oh, yes? It's your turn to tell me what you did this week?” goda. I laughed a little while confirming it. “OK. I'm just for a second. I've arrived in Bangkok, waiting for my next transit. Later tonight I'll be home.”

“There are things I need to prepare at home?” askaku. Usually he calls just to tell without any request. Hendra was an understanding husband who never demanded or expected anything I would not do.

“No. I'll have dinner on the plane. I just want to hug my wife and sleep by her side,” she said in a happy tone.

“Then that's what you'll get tonight,” I said slowly, quietly feeling relieved.

“Come back to your friends. I send greetings to them.”

“Will I tell you.”

“I miss you, baby.”

“I also.”

“I love you. Bye.”

“Bye.”

I looked at my phone. To this day, I cannot say the same thing to my husband. I don't want to feel the same for him. That man wants to marry me, he's got me. He wants to have my body, he has it too. But to my heart, I would never give it to him. And my husband should be satisfied with that. Because I gave my heart to another man.

Getting married is the dream of many single men and women when they reach a certain age. Being able to live well is the desire of many people. When the two are combined, some people may suspect that anyone who has it will live very happily.

The things I keep seeing, hearing, and feeling from people who know me even those who only know about me because of my husband's name. But what people see from the outside is not what I feel in marriage or in my abundant life.

I want to go but I can't. Wanting to run out of my house and husband, there was always an invisible rope that was so strong that it tied me to this marriage. My hands and feet are free to do anything or go anywhere. But I will always come back. Back to that mansion and to my husband.

No one knows what really happened in our marriage. Even the three women I started out as best friends, had no idea about my life with my husband. All they knew was what Hendra was displaying in front of everyone, whereas what I actually felt no one knew, except Papa and Mama.

“Hendra sends greetings to all of you,” my words are meaningful.

“He is indeed a polite man.” Darla smiles.

“I've always been jealous of young couples because of their affection. But your husband is different. You've been married for five more years and she's still so considerate of you. Never once have we had lunch together, he didn't call you. It was just a short talk, but it meant so much. Showing that she thinks of you,” said Qiana jealous. I blushed. Lindsey agreed.

“Yes. My husband only did it when we were dating. As soon as we got married, she felt no need to be romantic with me anymore. Every time I protest, he just says he's busy working. It was also for me and the kids,” complained Lindsey.

“Later you will also get used to it,” said Darla with a small laugh. “Important our husband does not forget to give us what we need. Money and credit cards with no minimum limit. The rest, just a bonus.”

We laughed at once. Every time our conversation turns around credit cards, we can't forget our initial meeting. Me and Qiana blushed in embarrassment considering how panicked we were at that moment. Luckily Lindsey was with me and Darla was helping Qiana. We were lucky that the incident brought us together.

“When is the plan you have children? You've been married a long time and you don't have any children either. Don't you feel lonely just accompanied by a maid at home?” seduce Lindsey blinking one eye. I smile.

“We have tried. Maybe it's not time yet. We are still young. There is still plenty of time to keep trying.” I shrugged my shoulders.

“Do not miss. Without feeling you will be on the verge of fertile period. If necessary, you two can check yourself together. As advanced as today, having children is not a difficult thing anymore. As long as you want to try a little,” said Lindsey.

“I'm sure your husband is expecting an heir. Who will pass on his name and company if not your child later?” qiana timpal.

“Not bother listening to them. You're correct. You're young, there's still plenty of time to try. My advice, enjoy your time together. If there are children, you will not have time to make out again,” Darla's advice while raising her eyebrows meaningfully.

Serious talk turned casual, we laughed at the new joke Darla told us. We didn't feel like we had spent two hours together. Having to return to our respective activities, we ended the lunch together, paid our bills, and parted at the restaurant exit.

On the way back home, I stopped by a flower shop. The woman standing guard greeted me kindly. I took a deep breath to enjoy the fresh scent of the flowers inside the store.

My eyes look around me. There are roses of various colors, lilies, dahlias, as well as various wildflowers. Then I smiled looking at the sunflowers in the corner of the room. I bought some stalks and asked to put them in the car.

Liando and Abdi immediately welcomed my arrival. I asked them to put the flowers I just bought into the living room. I put the bag into the room then rushed towards the living room on the ground floor.

Yuyun had placed a large flower vase and scissors inside the room. I smiled seeing the vase had been filled with water. I cleaned the stalk by flower stalk and arranged it in a vase. Liando and Abdi helped put the vase in the corners of the room at my command. I smiled with satisfaction to see the house become more beautiful.

We had tea and enjoyed an afternoon snack together in the living room and I asked them to report things that were lacking and needed to be bought. Tomorrow is the day where I bring clothes to the laundry and shop for daily necessities.

The maids at home already had their duties and I did not give them any other tasks that were not their own. After all, I love shopping and going around the supermarket to get out of my house and my writing routine. Because of that, I always do it myself.
