The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 230 - Little by Little

A male nurse came in with a wheelchair saying that it was time for my husband to do physiotherapy. The infusion on Hendra's hand had been removed so that he could already go to and fro without any more difficulty.

Mama and Papa waited for us to return to the waiting room, while I followed the nurse to the physiotherapy site. The room was very spacious with various equipment for exercise. This is a place my husband likes. When a young woman approached and introduced herself as the one who would help Hendra to get into therapy, I refused.

If only doing light gymnastics as Mama does, then her companion only gives an example of movement. Physiotherapy is different. The patient will be in physical contact with the patient. I don't want to see my husband in another woman's arms.

“Good, Mom. I will call my colleague,” said the woman who returned to the direction he came earlier. Hendra and the male nurse looked at me with a smiling face.

Thankfully, Hendra did not encounter any difficulties while doing therapy. I don't know what the accident caused, but his hands and feet were not as strong as before. He started by lifting weights using his hands and feet to strengthen his muscles again.

The same nurse who brought my husband back to pick him up. He said that muscle weakness often occurs when there is a problem with the brain. Moreover, Hendra not only experienced bleeding but also concussion.

What Hendra experienced turned out to be not as light as I thought. I think the problem is only the memory in his brain. His physique also had problems. It will take us a long time to live a normal life again.

Mom and Dad were not in the waiting room when we returned. There is only Sakti who is still faithfully sitting there watching television. After the nurse helped Hendra to lie down on his bed, he left us.

“What's up? Why do you look sad?” asked Hendra when I helped put the blanket back on. I just shook my head slowly. “Are you sad to see I wasn't strong enough to walk earlier?”

“You are an independent man who cannot be silent. Aren't you sad about your situation?” askaku. He smiled while holding my hand.

“I've been watching the news about the accident I've had. Za, if you are in my position, then you will understand that I am still alive I am very grateful. In a few weeks, I will be able to move normally again. I promise, I will not be lazy and try to heal as soon as possible. I want you to have no regrets about marrying me.

“You'd rather be with me than Vivaldo, then I won't waste this opportunity. You will be happy with me, and I will make you love me. More than your ex's love.” He smiled so happily. “I will not trouble you with my pain. So, you don't be sad anymore.”

I sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at him carefully. Does he think that I don't love him? Is that why he said all this? “Hendra,” I said trying to say how far our relationship is now.

“I still can't believe this.” His eyes sparkled happily. He touched my cheek with his left hand. “You are beautiful once.” His eyes fell on my lips. “Can I kiss you?”

“I am your wife, of course can.”

“But last night you didn't want to do it because I don't remember you. I don't want you to think that I deliberately remembered about us for the sake of getting a kiss,” she said in a worried tone.

“I know that you are not lying, Hendra,” I said slowly. He smiled, then did not hesitate to bring his face closer to me. Our eyes simultaneously closed as our lips came close to touching. He only kissed me for a moment and then distanced himself from me before I could return the kiss.

“It turns out this feels like kissing.” He smiled happily. “My heart beats so fast. I'll do better later.”

“Honey,” I say slowly. He rounded his eyes. “I don't know how far you remember our relationship. But we've been married for twelve years, and I love you. This attitude of yours ..”

“No. You love Vivaldo. You said that you would never fall in love with me because I am an arrogant, selfish, haughty man. But, Za, I will try,” he said with determination.

“Honey,” I said again. He still looked at me in surprise. “Why do you put on that expression every time I call you dear?”

“Because I don't believe in my own hearing. Are you playing me because I can't remember everything?” tanyanya. “Photo you showed me last night, do you think I can't see your facial expression?”

“You don't love me. On engagement photos, weddings, even honeymooners, you force your smile. I lost my memory, but I'm not blind, Za,” he said seriously.

“You don't believe that I love you?”

“Must be sure. You once said that you would love Vivaldo for a lifetime ...” Before she finished her sentence, I framed her face with both my hands and kissed her lips. I reminded myself to be careful not to hurt him.

“I love you. There is no other man in my heart. There's only you. So, stop mentioning the name of another man,” I said seriously.

“Wow. You turned out to be an expert in kissing.” Because of his pale white skin, the tinge of red on his face could be clearly seen. I laughed hearing that.

“You taught me all that.” I intended to stand up, but he held my hand. “It's time for lunch. They've already delivered your food.” The tray containing the food was already on the small table when we entered earlier.

He complied by releasing my hand. I called Sakti to go into the room. I could feel Hendra's gaze not getting away from me. Maybe she still doesn't believe that I'm serious about loving her. We had lunch together in silence, and Hendra fell asleep after taking his medicine. So we didn't interrupt her break, we got out of the room.

I used that opportunity to check my phone. There were some new messages, then I opened the message from Papa first. It turns out that they came home so that Papa could finish some work at the office, while Mama had to continue her gymnastics at home.

I did not read the messages from my parents and decided to make a video call. In order not to disturb the families of the other patients, I put on a headset. The voices of the children immediately greeted me as the call connected.

Hadi and Dira scramble to tell them what they are doing with their grandparents. What was their food menu this afternoon. I laughed because our menu was the same. Maybe they think I don't know that.

Seeing their happy faces, I threw away my guilt for leaving the children at home with my parents. If only I could, I would take them to the hospital every day.

After I finished checking all the messages, and replying to some urgent ones, I locked my phone screen. Being a little hungry, I invited Sakti to eat a snack in the cafeteria. He nodded according. We were just a few steps away, my phone vibrated.

I frowned reading the numbers on the screen that I was unfamiliar with. Hendra was very strict in terms of security, so I handed the phone to Sakti. Understanding what he had to do, he greeted the caller whom I did not know.

“Oh. Fine.” Sakti looked towards me. “It's a call from a guy named Irwan.” Oh. I know Irwan. I held out my hand and he returned my phone.

“Sorry, I didn't save your number on my phone, so ..” I said trying to explain.

“I understand, Madame Mahendra. I'm not offended. I am happy to be able to contact Mom and get this number,” Irwan said in a relieved tone.

“You must have tried to contact Hendra's phone, huh? The communication tool was completely damaged.”

“Iya, Mom. I'm sorry, I just found out about the accident that happened to her today. Is she okay?”

“Yes, he's fine. Just having some medical problems.”

“Then, I promise to give you some of the reports he requested on this day. Can I leave it through Mom to tell Hendra? I'll ask my men to take him there,” he said urgently.

What did Hendra ask of his friend? Is there something he's investigating? Is that why this accident happened to him?
