The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 14 - Not Happy

When we had lunch together, Lindsey and Qiana had always been honest in saying that they were jealous at how sweet my husband had been to me. But I never expected that they would openly convey that to their husbands.

I think at least they just ask their husbands to behave like they were dating, not even mention Hendra's name as an example of the attitude of the husband that their husband should imitate. I feel bad.

“Drink coffee?” ask Helmut who suddenly was near us. Qiana who was standing by his side smiled at us. The four of us looked towards the couple. “It looks interesting. Aren't you guys gonna take me too?”

“Did your wife also complain about your attitude that was no better than the way Hendra treated his wife, Helmut?” ask Eduardo meaningfully.

“Ouch!” Helmut held onto his left chest, as if the sentence had hurt him. “You too?”

“It's clear,” I'm Eduardo. Spontaneously we laughed seeing Qiana and Lindsey's face flushed red, confirming their husband's speech. I know they found out we were just kidding. The two of them would not be offended to see us laughing when discussing about them.

“How about you, Giovanni?” eduardo asked Darla's husband who was walking up to us with his wife. “Do you want to come have coffee with us?”

The man looked at us one by one and then at his wife in confusion. “I don't remember that we suddenly became good friends. I know only our wives are friends. It was also due to a credit card accident,” joked Giovanni. My friends and I smiled meaningfully.

“If our wives like to gossip about us husbands, why don't we do the same? Rumoring of wives?” joking Eduardo shrugged his shoulders.

“I'm coming,” replied Giovanni quickly. Spontaneous we laughed together.

“I'm not sure you'll talk about us if you take my husband out for coffee together. All he has in his head is political, political, and political affairs.” Qiana rolled her eyeballs.

“It's still better, Qia. My husband won't stop talking about cars. If so, next month the collection of luxury cars will definitely increase,” complained Lindsey while sighing slowly. Husbands look at each other meaningfully to hear it.

“True ‘kan what did I say? When they were with us, they dared to speak untrue things about their own husband. How else if it's behind us?” eduardo said jokingly. We laughed together again.

We rarely get together like this. I don't complain about my regular meetings with my three best friends. But meeting and talking with husbands also turned out to be a lot of fun. Moreover, they know how to make the atmosphere feel close. It was as if we were used to the meeting.

Again Hendra gave me a surprise that I will not easily forget. Have I been so sad lately that she's planning a little party to celebrate my birthday? I'm busy with my book project, so I don't have time to be sad. Maybe my husband just wants to make me happy on my birthday.

I could feel Qiana and Lindsey's gazes directed at me. I try to ignore it. Hendra possessively wrapped his hands around my waist. We were standing so close and he didn't look disturbed at all. If only the two pairs of eyes did not look at me without blinking, the embrace would feel comfortable for me.

“I have to go to the toilet,” I whispered to my husband. He smiled and nodded his head.

“Oke.” He lowered his body and kissed my lips, right there, in front of them all. Spontaneous my face flushed. From the corner of my eye, I saw the two friends taking their eyes off us.

After saying goodbye to them, I went to the bathroom in our room. I looked in the mirror and then looked sad. Thirty years and I can't enjoy life the way I want. Seeing Lindsey and Qiana staring with jealousy at my husband's affection for me, I felt guilty.

If both of my best friends think that I am happy with Hendra's attitude towards me, they are wrong. I am tormented and want to get out of this marriage as soon as possible. But, how?

The man never stopped surprising me. All of that made me feel even more guilty and hard to escape from. I like surprises. Really like. Either in the form of goods, attention, or surprise parties as they are going on now. Hendra knows that. But how do I make her understand that I'm not happy with her?

If I just said plainly that I wanted a divorce from her, she would ask me why. If he knew the reason, he would ask for a chance to correct it. In the end, we will not be separated.

It never will be because Hendra will try to make our marriage better. Not for himself but for me. He would do anything to make me happy and no longer intend to leave her. For that one thing, he's an expert. He always knew how to make me happy. If so, I would feel guilty ever asking for a divorce from her.

When I returned to the ground floor, I saw the guests were busy chatting with each other. They seemed to enjoy the food and drinks that could be taken as much as possible. I laughed to see that my sister didn't stop eating either. In one corner, I saw Hendra talking to one of our neighbors. It seems he didn't lose me. I smile.

“Hendra so happy.” I heard the voice of a woman I knew from behind me. Quickly I turned to him.

“Ma,” I said to Mama Naava, my mother-in-law.

Unlike my three best friends who had a complicated relationship with their mother-in-law, I was quite lucky. Mama loves me. Never before has the woman tried to organize or criticize the things I do. Whether it's about myself or what I did to his son. He didn't even try to teach me or advise me without being asked.

Our relationship is both good and very close. My mom used to call me or take me to lunch together. Not infrequently, my mother-in-law took me shopping together to buy clothes, shoes, bags, or daily necessities.

The good side of our relationship, when Hendra argued with me in front of his mother, my mother-in-law always stood by me. Only with that, I can win our debate. But it did not make my husband feel defeated or cheated. She was happy to see her mother more in favor of her daughter-in-law than her son.
