The first thing I saw was two large bouquets of red roses, in front of which was placed a golden box, then in front of it again a few small boxes of velvet. Red rose petals decorate the surface of the bed.
Two hands wrapped around my body, then my back came into contact with his chest. The shock kept me from listening to her footsteps approaching our room. “Happy Valentin Day, my dear wife. I love you so much.”
“Oh.” I forgot that Dira's birthday coincided with this special day. “Hendra, this is overkill. You can just say it without having to give me all these gifts.”
She let go of his embrace, grabbed my hand, then closed the door. “When another woman will jump in happy, then give a kiss to her lover see this gift, you protest instead. But that's one of the reasons I love you.” We stopped at the edge of the bed.
“Five gift boxes? Why so much?” I was confused to see the five velvet boxes. I don't have to open it to know what's inside.
“As long as we part ways, I never forget to buy you a Valentine gift. Open.” He took one box and brought it closer to me. “Sit here.”
The five boxes contained jewelry made of diamonds. Two necklaces and three bracelets. Right, ‘kan? He must have given me some very expensive jewelry. I haven't worn my jewelry in a long time since I only wore it when I attended the invitation with Hendra. During our separation, I rarely attended events if not for being coerced by friends.
The large golden box contained chocolate of various shapes. That's my favorite chocolate. I was very full, so I decided to eat it another day. I put all those boxes on the nightstand.
“I didn't prepare anything for you,” I said slowly. Hendra took my hand and pulled me between his thighs.
“You know that I never expected a gift in the form of an item from you.” His hand touched my mane coat. I shook my head in disbelief knowing what he meant. We laughed together and I didn't block his hand from opening the rope.
Yuyun helped me that morning to make sure that I was carrying all the children's needs in their suitcases. My needs and Hendra's I put in our suitcase. Liando helped me get him downstairs to put in the trunk of the car. As on the previous holiday, we left after breakfast.
Dira was no longer afraid and sat sweetly in his particular chair. Ara was in the middle of the seat, while Hadi was sitting behind his papa. During the week we were not at home, the married workers would also be on holiday for that long. Sakti and Liando do not intend to go home, so we do not insist.
We sang, told stories, and joked in the car all the way. The atmosphere of the car is silent as the children fall asleep. Hendra and I discussed the light things we encountered on the way. Regarding tolls, merchants, food peddled by the roadside, famous places we passed, even those we had already visited.
I was happy to see us coming back to the villa. I will not get tired of vacationing in this place. We laid the children on the bed, and Hendra and the housekeeper dropped our suitcases. Lunch is available to make my stomach sound.
As soon as the kids woke up, we ate together. They invited to swim in the pool available in the villa. Unlike the first arrival, this time Ara was able to swim in the water and did not need our guide anymore.
“Papa, will I not be scolded teacher always one week off?” ask Hadi confused. We were enjoying a snack by the pool after being satisfied with the swim.
“Of course not. You can follow the next lesson, so your teacher can't scold you.” Hendra rubbed Hadi's hair. He glanced at me. “You have a smart mom, so don't worry about your school. You're a smart kid.”
“Papa, school.” Dira put on a face. He was smart to make his father's heart melt to comply with all his requests.
“You're only two years old, baby. Wait until you four years, then enter TK A, yes,” said Hendra. Dira held out his five right fingers.
“Four?” She asked. Hendra folded his thumb, then counted from one to four, Hadi also counted. Dira laughed every time his papa touched his finger.
My load has felt so much lighter since Hendra came back to us. I was no longer alone thinking about what was best for the children's education, deciding what I needed to do to make their weekends fun, even things as easy as playing with them. I'm happy to have a discussion friend who's like me.
Waking up that morning, I did not find Hendra by my side. Bizarrely. He didn't wake me up to jog together. I found the three of them talking about nothing on the front page. I inhaled a deep breath while standing on the terrace. The morning mountain air is very fresh. The kids immediately greeted me.
“Good morning. What are you guys fussing over here?” I glanced towards the trunk of the car. I saw a very large bag, a backpack, and a basket made of rattan inside. “Where are we going?” I looked towards Hendra. He took the opportunity to land a kiss on my lips.
“Combing.” He asked all of us to back off so he could close the door.
“Kata Papa, there is a river and we can swim as much, Ma. We'll make a bonfire tonight. Dira and I can bake cassava, potatoes, corn, and fish near the fire. Go, Ma! We eat now so we can go.” Hadi pulled my hand to enter the villa.
I smiled at how excited my son was to go camping. An hour later, we were already on our way to the campsite. In less than an hour, we arrived at our destination. The air is fresh, cool, and I can imagine the air at night will be very cold, especially if it is located near the river.
Hadi helped carry a backpack, I carried a food basket, while Hendra carried a very large camper bag on his back. We didn't have to walk too far to arrive at the camp site with the river on either side of us. There was a tree in the corner of that flat land so that the sunlight did not directly hit our skin.
“Papa! Papa! Yenang!” Dira cheered happily to see the river. The water was not so high that we could see the large river stones. The water is also very clear.
“Wah, baby! This place is so beautiful!” my praise.
“We put up the tent for a while, then swim, yes.” Hendra put his bag on the grass, then took out one by one the equipment he carried.
I helped him set up the tent, then kept all our luggage inside. We had our shirts and shorts on, so we could enjoy the cold waters of the river. Hendra had put buoys on the children's bodies to keep them safe in case something bad happened. Ara won't come. He decided to lie down near the tent.
Today is not a weekend and we can enjoy the river without the presence of others. I understand more and more why Hendra prefers to take a vacation on a normal day, not a holiday. We do not need to jostle or fight with other visitors.
He did not release his hold from Hadi, whereas I did not for a second release Dira from my embrace. The flow of river water is not swift, so we can sit on the bottom of the river without worrying about being carried away by the current. They were very happy as Hendra lay at the bottom of the river with them lying on his chest.
We came out of the river because we were starving. It had a public toilet, so we could take a shower in the restroom. The male section is on the left of the restaurant, while the female section is on the right.
“Dira, Papa and Sister are already waiting to eat. Are you hungry yet?” I asked her to see she didn't stop banging the shower water and crying every time I turned off the flow. Dira continued to play water even though his mouth was already shivering with cold.
“Lapal, Ma.” He patted her stomach.
“Then, we dry now, then put on clothes, yes?” my many. He finally complied.
After taking a shower and our appearance had been tidy again, I took her half-run back to our tent. Someone suddenly appeared from behind the wall before I turned and stood in front of me, blocking my steps. I raised my face intending to reprimand her disrespect. But I fell silent so I recognized him. Oh. Lord. No more.
“Hai, Ara. We meet again.”
