The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 154 - Stadium Two

“Mother is very lucky! Mr. Mahendra is a good husband! I was surprised to hear his cool statements in the interview.” The sister named Clara cheered happily while helping me stand properly in front of the device that would take a photo of my chest.

“Pak Mahendra is notoriously cold and doesn't say much. But that night he could say love very sincerely. How can you do it?” said another sister named Henny.

I don't understand what they're talking about. What interview? For the past few days I have not watched any news broadcasts. I purposely avoided it. I don't want to trouble myself by watching or reading untrue news about me and Hendra.

Vivaldo's statement at a news conference on Hadi's status was a major attack on Hendra's credibility as a person of integrity. People must have begun to question his worthiness as Papa's successor to his current status. I'm sure that's what prompted Mama to come talk to me.

But I wonder what they are talking about. Hendra's cool statement? He said love? What interview did he attend that I didn't know about? I don't want to ask questions and act as if I know everything because I don't want to be seen as unattentive to my own husband.

“When Mr. Mahendra is showing evidence after evidence on television, well, everyone is silent. Even the woman who interviewed him was speechless. The event was fully controlled by Mr Mahendra!” sister Clara was happy.

“Moreover when Mr. Mahendra threatened to sue everyone who wrote malicious comments about Mom. Everyone opened their cell phones. Until the television crew also checked their devices. They are indeed bad people.” Sister Henny growled softly.

Oh, dearGod. What the hell's been going on? How could I not know what my husband is doing out there? I got dizzy myself because I was confused by the direction of their conversation. I know about people's malicious comments about me from Yuyun. But Hendra threatened to sue them, only this time I heard it.

“Im sorry for our attitude, Mom. We laughed and joked like this. Until forgetting that Mother and family are going through a difficult time.” They suddenly changed their attitude. Maybe they think I'm distracted by their attitude because I'm just quiet.

“Oh. No. gabe. Its alright. Don't hesitate.” I smiled at them. I'm happy to know that not everyone hates us because of the news.

“What about Mother Naava? We hope your mother-in-law can decide on her next move soon. Cancer is aggressive. It is still stage two. But if left unchecked, the situation will get worse.” Sister Clara and Sister Henny exchanged looks with faces full of sympathy. The cancer?

“Luckily big family Mother routinely conducts a thorough health examination. So the cancer is still small. It can still be handled through surgery,” Sister Henny said.

“Is operation the only way?” askaku. Trying to find more information. Cancer is a type of disease that must be treated seriously.

“It needs to be discussed further with a specialist, Mom. Cancer is nothing new anymore. But what was suffered by Mother Naava was dangerous because it was ferocious. If not treated immediately, the cancer can spread to other important organs.” Sister Clara looks worried.

Mama has stage two cancer? Yeah, God. Does Hendra know this? What about Papa? Does Papa know? Now I understand why Mama looked so desperate that she came to see me and asked me to leave Hendra. Mom thought that her life was not long.

After doing every check and getting the results, I was happy that my family was okay. I who had just had a miscarriage also showed significant recovery. The doctor asked me to keep my mind positive and stay away from stress. I wanted to ask about Mama's condition, but I decided not to do it in front of Hendra.

“You all right, baby?” asked Hendra when we were in the car. I looked at him, then nodded slowly. “You were quiet from earlier.”

“Do you have nothing more important than watching me, baby?” I tease. She laughs. The same thing happened when we got home. There are no more journalists who usually huddle to be able to interview us.

I chose the recommended video after video until I finally found the video of the interview I was looking for. During our marriage, Hendra always refused interview requests for any reason. Even those that can help promote his family's business.

But did he accept this interview? Reading the date, I tried to remember what we were doing. Ah, it was a Saturday where the kids stayed at Zach's house and .. Mama came to me. Yeah, God. My husband exposed all their crimes that ruined our good name, and I wanted to end my life.

Hendra accepted the only interview offer to clear my good name. I was touched to hear the statement after statement he said. He also not only spoke nonsense but displayed every evidence that corroborated his sentence.

I looked towards him sitting beside me. Hendra brought his face closer, I kissed him back. I continued my spectacle by putting my head on his arm. So, there are three people working together doing all this? Out of everything they do, only one problem concerns me.

“Why did he kidnap Dira?” many confused.

“You remember what happened when we met him at the restaurant at Peak?” ask Hendra. I'm trying to remember. “Dira screamed and cried when she rubbed her head. His facial expression changed there. He didn't admit it, but I suspected it was what prompted him to do it. He was offended by our daughter's attitude.” Yeah, I remember that.

“Causible. It was the only event that could connect Dira with him. He can't kidnap our daughter for money. They've got it but didn't call us for ransom. I don't know what he wants to do to Dira.”

“I don't know either. According to the captors, they were only asked to kidnap Dira and wait for the next order. They were forced to sedate her because she kept screaming and crying.” Hearing her name we mentioned many times, Dira stood up and approached her papa. Hendra lifted and hugged him.

“What happened to the three of them?” askaku.

“Police are still conducting interrogations and investigations. We will know the result soon.”

“I hope they will all get the same punishment.” I turned off the tablet and put it on my lap.

“Hopefully, dear.” I felt his kiss on my hair. I raised my head and looked at him in confusion.

“What do you mean?”

“Have you never heard of how people with money and influence deal with their problems every time they get entangled in the law? Dicky and Nora are not ordinary people. When they get to jail, their company name will fall.”

“You mean, they could have been declared innocent and free of punishment?” my protest.

“What I faced was not just the two of them but their entire extended family and business associates. That's why I put my ego aside and accepted an interview offer from them. Had they escaped the snare of the law, at least their names would not have been completely clean. They use the media as a weapon, so I take advantage of public opinion.”

Unfairly. If the three of them escaped and were found not guilty, what about me and all the losses we have experienced? What about our baby who left?
