The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 162 - There is Still Hope

The gate of the house did not change much. It still stood firmly and loomed, blocking anyone who was not invited to enter. The first time I came to this house, I actually scolded Hendra. I suspected that she had a hand in Papa and Mama's efforts that continued to persuade me to marry her.

It's still working hours, so Papa's still in the office. Hendra said that today Papa will give training to the new manager. I just wanted to meet Mama, so this is a good time. Mama clearly said that I would never be allowed into this house again. But I tried my luck.

And today I was very lucky. Security guards opened the gate so Liando could drive a car into the beautiful grounds. After a while, the house was visible. It was just as beautiful as when I first arrived.

“Whose house is this, Ma? Very big,” said Hadi with round eyes amazed.

“Home Grandpa and Grandma.” I also looked at the building in awe.

“This is not the home of Grandpa and Grandma.” He frowned. I laugh.

“This is the home of Grandpa and Grandma from Papa, not mama, Nak.” I rubbed his head. He nodded in understanding.

I got out of the car first, then Liando helped Dira out of her baby seat, and Hadi was standing by my side. I held their hands together towards the terrace. A man opened the door and let us in.

We were taken to the living room. I invite the kids to sit down. Then a waiter came to bring food and drinks. We waited a while. Looks like Mama's doing something so she doesn't come down from her room right away.

When the door opened, I stood up. Mom came into the room and invited me to sit back. He sat on the sofa in front of me, with the table between us. He looked at the children for a moment before looking back at me.

“What's up? Is there no more business between us?” tanyakanya. I put down the oncology doctor's business card I met yesterday. Mama took it, read it, then looked at me seriously.

“Can we talk about this in another room?” my door. I didn't want the kids to hear what we were talking about, and then complain to Hendra.

“Nothing to talk about.” Mom put the business card back on the table.

“There's still hope, Auntie. It's not too late to treat it. But if Auntie continues to delay like this, her condition will get worse,” I said slowly. He won't talk about it, so I insist.

“This body is my body. You have no right to say what is best for my body. Just take care of your own body,” he said sharply.

“Om definitely doesn't know this. Aunt forbid doctor to tell Om, ‘kan? If Auntie doesn't want to treat her, I'll talk to Om directly. As a husband, Aunt's body is her body as well,” I said not to give up.

“You won't dare.” His face was worried. I just kept quiet. “What's wrong with you? What are you doing this for? Why do you suddenly care about me?”

“Tante is my husband's birth mother. The man I love so much. If something bad happened to her mother, she would be very sad. I don't want to see my husband sad. He's been hard enough because of me. So, if I can help reduce her worry, I will do whatever it takes to prevent bad things from happening to Auntie.”

Mama was silent for a moment. He looked at me with a head that must have been thinking about something. I kept quiet, waiting for his next reaction. “So, that's why you trapped Nora and made her shy at her own hotel at her own family's wedding reception?”

I smile. “I don't care about Nora. I'm just protecting my children and the good name of Hendra he's cracked up to. I've made a big mistake, I won't deny it. But he's not God. If I let him, he'll keep trying to spread slander. Auntie knows for herself that defamation is against the law.”

“He loved Hendra too much because of that he did. The goal is not to hurt my son,” Mama asserted. I looked at him for a moment.

“Is that what he told Auntie? That she loves Hendra and would do anything to get him? Even if it's against the law?” tanyaku. “Tante, please if Aunt still wants to bring other women closer to my husband. I didn't come to talk about it. I want Auntie to get treatment soon.”

“I told you, it is my business,” he said firmly. We looked at each other, equally firm with our own opinions.

“You won't dare.”

I looked at the children who were still enjoying their chocolate cake. After drinking the tea that has been provided for me, Hadi finished his cake, and cleaned Dira's hands and mouth, I say goodbye to Mama. He just kept quiet and sat in his place.

Liando who was still waiting in front of the house immediately welcomed our arrival. He opened the car door, then helped Dira to sit in her chair. We left without Mom at the door. I asked Liando to take us to my husband's office.

Of course I didn't come there to see Hendra, but Papa. The training was held until the afternoon, so Papa must still be in the office. I put the best words in my head. Mama's been delaying treatment for too long, I can't wait anymore.

Arriving in front of the building, a security guard opened the door. He immediately recognized me and the children. We were taken to a special elevator. I didn't have an entry card, so he drove me all the way to Hendra's study.

“Sayang?” my husband said confused. “What are you guys coming here for?”

“Papa!!” cheers of children who scramble to embrace her. Hendra knelt down to welcome their embrace. He held the children's hands together, and they sat down together. Gista walked into the room while bringing snacks. Hadi and Dira stared happily at the various cakes provided before them.

“Honey, can I meet Papa? Do you think I can interrupt his training for a while?” I asked Hendra. He looked at his secretary.

“Please, take my wife to the training room,” she said gave the order without asking what my purpose was to meet her father. I smiled happily.

“Good, Sir.” Gista looks at me.”Come, Mom, I'm inter.”

“Thank you.” I approached Hendra, then kissed his lips. She smiles.

The young woman took me to the elevator. Arriving at the destination floor, he walked by my side while pointing out which path we needed to take. Turning in a corridor, I saw Mama standing not far in front of me.

“Mother Naava, good afternoon,” greet Gista politely. “Mother Mahendra, this is the room. Come, I'll drop you into.”

“No need, Gista. You can already go back to your room,” Mama said preventing her from opening the door. The woman looks confused between obeying the request of Mama or her boss.

“It's okay, Gista. Thank you for driving me. You can go back to your room.” I helped him decide. He lowered his body a little, then left us.

“Cute me.” Mama turned her body. He didn't wait for me to follow him or not. He kept walking towards a door, then opened it and entered. I followed. I closed the door and stood not far from the big table in front of me. Mama stands in front of a large window that shows the beautiful view of the city with its skyscrapers.

“Adhy will not be able to receive this news well. He will be very sad and it could ruin his health. If you forget, we are no longer young. Bad news will make us sick.” Mama said without looking at me.

“Om is not that weak. He's a strong man. And also with aunt. What makes aunty afraid to seek treatment? Still stage two, Auntie. The cancer hasn't even spread to the lymph nodes. According to doctors, Aunt's life expectancy is still high. But Aunt should treat him immediately.” I'm still trying to persuade him.

“The doctor certainly did not mention the treatment he was referring to.” Mom turned her back and looked at me.

“No. The doctor did not mention at all about the treatment procedure,” said slowly.

Mama's eyes were glazed over, her lips were trembling, making me worry. My heart was pounding loudly, afraid of the sentence he was going to say next. “Due to the nature of the cancer and its size, he suggested surgical removal of the payudara. Which woman still wants to live when she's not perfect anymore?”
