All that day I spent in my special room writing on the blog and also continuing the script of my fourth novel. I only stopped when accompanying Dira to play or at lunch after Hadi came home from school. Yuyun accompanied them to play so that I could concentrate on working.
So I was very surprised to see the writing that passed at the bottom of the television screen about the results of meeting Hendra and Sherry at Disnaker this morning. I know that the woman reported to her about her unilateral dismissal, but I did not know that a hearing meeting of the reported statement was held today.
Hendra has made a big, big mistake by not telling me anything about this. It was only fitting that last night he came home so late and this morning he went to the office sooner than usual. I locked up my intention to welcome him at the front door.
I took a deep breath, then took it out slowly, trying to calm myself down. But the effort failed. Hurrying footsteps approached the room where I was, and the door opened. The children entered first, followed by Ara who barked happily. My eyes looked at the man who entered last with annoyance.
A large bouquet of red roses she carried could not make me smile. And I'm not surprised to see him looking at me confused, as well as scared. Goody. I can still make him a little trepidation when I see me in a state of anger.
“Hadi, Dira, mom to the room accompany Papa, yes. You guys meet Bu Yuyun in the dining room. We're soon after.” I turned off the television and walked towards the door. Hendra opened it for me. The children immediately followed and ran towards the dining room with Ara.
Hendra grabbed my hand when I was on the stairs, I immediately brushed it off. He moved faster, then grabbed my shoulder. I also took the hand off my shoulder. He didn't give up. This time he wrapped his hands around my waist and I pinched him hard.
“Aaw! Honey, it hurts.” He complains, but I don't care.
Arriving at the room, I waited for him to close the door before speaking. He put on a face while giving the bouquet of flowers to me. I just crossed my arms and looked at him in annoyance. “There is no secret between us, dear? Really?”
“If you are angry because of the meeting at Disnaker, I can explain it.” She tried to hug, I stayed away.
“I don't need an explanation. You've kept secrets from me. If this is a company issue, it's okay. I know that there are things that are secret that no wife should know. But this is a matter known to the public, except me. Me, your own wife.” I backpedaled back when he tried to touch me again.
“Why didn't you tell me that the meeting was held this morning, Hendra?” many rhetorics. “Tonight I won't sleep with you. Please select, me or you sleeping in guest room.”
“Za, you can't,” protest. I walked right past and approached the door. Of course he wouldn't let me just walk away by grabbing my hand and pulling me closer. He's laughing a little.
“Before, Mrs Mahendra.” He put both his hands on my body. I rebelled wanting to break away, but there was no result.
“Let go of me!” I said not to hold back my anger anymore.
“I confessed wrongly. But I didn't do it because I didn't believe you or wanted to hide this from you. I'm too focused on solving this problem as quickly and as quickly as possible. Please, forgive me, dear.” He hugged me without being affected in the slightest by my hard efforts to get away from him. I gave up before I ran out of energy.
“Please, let me go,” I'll do it slowly. He put his lips to my ear.
“Ppromise that I can sleep here with you,” he said half-whispering. I refrained from being affected by her soft voice.
“No. That was the consequence of your mistake today. Let go of me!” I said firmly.
“No. You have to promise, then I'll let go of my embrace.” Realizing that I lost strongly to him, I relented.
“I can sleep here with you tonight and for the next,” he said reading my mind. Damnit. How could he know? “Honey? I haven't heard you promise.”
“You can sleep here with me tonight and for the next,” I said with tight teeth.
“I love you, baby.” He kissed the back of my head, then let go of his embrace. “I'll shower as soon as possible, then we have dinner together.” He stepped into the bathroom while whistling.
Is he the only one who can keep a secret? Okay. I can too.
Our meeting place that afternoon was a cafe serving food and soft drinks. But they also provide some main food menu for hungry guests. I had lunch first with the kids at home so we could only order snacks. I don't know how long the meeting will last.
I've become used to being on time when keeping appointments or attending an invitation because of Hendra, so I'm not surprised to see me and the kids arrive first. They were so excited to order their favorite ice cream, I just ordered some warm tea.
“You remember what mom said, ‘kan?” ask them after the waiter left with our order records.
“I remember, Ma. We can't interrupt Mama talking to Grandma. I can't make Dira cry either. Mama don't worry. I'm just gonna eat ice cream. Mama brought my coloring book?” He looked at my bag.
“Mama take.” I rubbed his head. “Mamma love you later after the ice cream runs out, yes. So that your book is not dirty.”
“I too, Ma. Mewaynai,” said Dira does not want to lose.
As soon as their order was delivered, the children were busy enjoying their own ice cream. I put up Dira's eating apron so she doesn't dirty her clothes. For a while, they won't need me.
“You've come,” said Mama who was standing on the side of the table where we were. I deliberately chose a round table to easily sit on the side of Hadi and Dira. I stood up to greet him.
“Hai, Aunt,” I said politely.
“No need to pretend to be polite, no Hendra here.” Mama looked at my two children and sat with a face she didn't like. “Why did you bring them? Want to show me the results of your affair?” I immediately closed Hadi's ears. He had never heard that word and I didn't know how to explain it if he asked later.
“I cannot leave them at home, Auntie. Leaving them to my parents will take more time. Aunty don't worry, they won't trouble.” I refrained from being provoked by his evil words.
“I won't be long because I'm not sure I'll be able to linger near you.” Mom took something out of her bag. A piece of paper was placed in front of me. “I've put a signature on that blank check paper. Please write down any number. Ten billion, one trillion, I don't care. I want you to leave Hendra as soon as possible.”
My hands on my lap were trembling. I squeezed it slowly to reduce the vibration. I am not from a family that is. The luxury of a new life I really felt when I married Hendra. But money and possessions did not dazzle my eyes. Even if Hendra loses everything, I will remain faithful to his side. So, valuing my loyalty with money hurt me a lot.
“I'm sorry, Auntie. I will not leave my husband. I've lived my life without him and I don't want to experience it again.” I pushed the paper back in front of him.
“Omong empty. Everyone has a price.” Mom smiled. “I will give the house to be yours, as well as the two cars that you and your son have been using. Plus twenty percent of the share in our family company. My offer is still valid, you can write the large number you want on this blank check. Is that your value?”
