The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 68 - There is Still Hope

No. gabe. I quickly wiped away the tears that fell down my cheeks. There's still hope. It is not time to give up. There is still hope for us. Hendra's love for me will lead him to slowly forgive me. I believe that.

As soon as my order was delivered, I stopped thinking about unimportant things. The crowd around me helps to drive away the loneliness. Even though there was nothing I knew, I was quite satisfied to be able to hear the various topics they covered.

“Zahara.” I jumped in shock feeling a touch on my shoulder. I looked over and saw Hendra standing by my side. One of her hands rested on the back of the chair, while the other hand grabbed my hand that was on top of my lap.

“I drive home,” he said slowly. I looked at him in wonder, then turned to look at my empty plate.

“The meal,” I said while standing helped by my husband.

“I already paid for it.” He took my bag on the table.

“You don't have to drive me home. I came with Liando.” I held her hand that held mine. He looked towards me.

“I've told him to go home.” He asked me to follow him out of the restaurant. I looked at him confused. Doesn't he still have a job today? Why did he take me home and leave the office?

His car was parked at the front door. He opened the door for me and helped me get in. Then he turned around and sat on my right side. Kafin drove the car after getting an order from his master. The fight over the traffic began.

The first few minutes, no one spoke or tried to start the conversation. I only glanced a moment at him whenever I felt his gaze being directed at me. But we never met a look because he had looked the other way.

“Is it okay for you to leave the meeting room?” askaku.

“It's done,” the answer is short.

Of course he came to see me because the meeting was over. Not because I was more important to him than that meeting. Stupid me. But it's okay. He wanted to take me home and just sitting together like this was more than enough. It's a very good development.

Slow down, Ara. Give him time. No matter how long it takes for him to forgive me, I will wait patiently. Most importantly, I didn't stop trying. After all, everything I do seems to be coming to fruition.

“Do you know today what day?” he asked Hendra when we had breakfast together that morning. I almost cried hearing that he finally wanted to talk to me first.

“Hari Wednesday?” guess how so. He shook his head, then continued his breakfast. “What's up? Did I forget something?”

“Not important.” He stood up and walked out of the dining room. I smiled seeing his behavior. He who is sulking is very sweet.

After doing gymnastics and having lunch together, we started getting ready. Abdi and Liando helped me to arrange the table and chairs in several corners of the front room. They blow balloons of letters and numbers and hang them on the wall forming a single sentence of speech. I arranged the flowers in the pot and they helped put it on the point I mentioned.

Both my mother, Yuyun, and Fahri cooked together in the kitchen. They just prepared Hendra's favorite dishes. My saliva rose inhaling the scent of every appetizer, main, and cover they served, even their warm and cold-made drinks also looked good. But I can only swallow. It's not time to enjoy it yet.

Darla was the first guest to arrive. He brought so many fruits and spices that we really like. I cheered happy to see it. Qiana troubled herself by carrying two gallons of ice cream. Lindsey carried a large tart with a congratulatory note on the surface. Perfect.

“You don't park the car around here, ‘kan?” ask me to make sure that my best friend will not make this surprise discovered before the time comes.

“No. I told my driver to go straight home. After all, Gio will come too, so we can go home together.” Darla blinked one eye. Qiana and Lindsey also did the same by telling their driver to go home. I nodded with satisfaction.

“OK. You all calm down. No one speaks.” I held my phone and chose a contact number. I heard someone giggle. “Mama!”

“Iya, yes. I'll shut my mouth.” My mother-in-law immediately covered her mouth with her hands.

I took a deep breath, then called Hendra. I prayed in my heart that she would answer my call. And I heard his voice. Mercifully. “Hendra? A, I fell. I know you'd be mad if Abdi or Liando touched me, so I don't know what to do.”

“Fall how?” His voice sounded worried.

“I was going down the stairs when ..” I tried to speak as persuasively as possible while enduring the pain to make him believe.

“I'm home now,” he said cut my sentence and end the phone relationship. I looked at my best friend and my two mothers. They then laughed amusedly.

Both my papa and Zach then came, as did the neighbors, and some of Hendra's acquaintances I knew. They all asked the driver to go far away and pick them up after the event. Zach left his car at the house of one of my neighbors.

It was dark, so we put out the front room lights and waited until Hendra came. He doesn't disappoint me. The subtle roar of his car entered the front yard a moment later. Heard her footsteps rushing towards the front door of the house. Abdi deliberately did not lock the door so that my husband could easily turn his knob.

“Sayang ..?” ask her with a worried tone and hunting breath. Oh. Lord. He called me that word again. I did not hold back the tears that were pressing out because of the haru taste. “Honey, where are you? Za ..?” He stepped to and fro, then the room turned bright. He managed to find the switch.

“Happy birthday!!!” cheer us all. Hendra looked around him stunned. He opened his eyes to us, then stopped when he saw me.

Seeing her walk quickly towards me, Darla and Qiana immediately took over the cake I was holding. And they were acting right because Hendra didn't stop until he hugged me. The guests sang a happy birthday song, but we both cried together. No one knows the reason why this hug is important to both of us.
