The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 44 - This is Not a Coincidence

I don't like having to lie anymore. Last night I didn't notice how Aldo looked at me because I didn't want to arouse Papa and Mama's suspicions. So I just looked around without focusing on one thing. It was the man who ruined everything. Why is he looking at me like that in front of my in-laws?

When we met at the supermarket and ate together, he didn't give me any special attention. We talk like old friends, nothing more. Then why did he do that last night. Not only did she stare as Mama said, she also dared to hold my hand even if only for a moment when I passed her.

“We have nothing to do, Ma. I also just met him last night.” I was so scared of their reaction. How can I say that Aldo is my ex? Hendra is not here, I am not ready to face their reaction alone.

Papa, Mama, and Hendra were very nice to me. But I never dreamed that they would still treat me like this if I made one small mistake. Hendra had already shown his true nature when I let him down by taking the pill. Papa and Mama would be disappointed if they found out that Aldo was the man I was in a relationship with when I rejected Hendra's proposal.

“I told you, our daughter-in-law is a beautiful woman. It was natural that the men were looking at him. That's why Hendra is very careful to take care of his wife.” Papa reminded me again. Mama looked dissatisfied but she nodded slowly.

“I really don't like the way men stare at my son-in-law. She's my son's wife. I don't like to see him having to be careful every time he appears in public. Fortunately, he already has three friends who treat him well so that he is not lonely.” Mama looked at me sympathetically.

“Mama don't worry. I'm doing fine. Whenever I feel lonely, I can come to my parents' house, to this house, or hang out with my friends.” I smile. My mom smiled happily hearing that.

Not wanting to change my schedule, on Monday I went to the laundry and shopped at the supermarket. Realizing that the portion of my meal was now larger than before, I bought twice the usual amount of groceries.

There were a lot of food on sale that was inviting to taste, but I refrained from buying it. Our cooks are much healthier to consume. So I passed the food section and rushed towards the cashier before I changed my mind.

“How many times a week do you shop, Ara? Wasn't it just a few days ago that you bought this much groceries?” ask a man who suddenly stood by me. I look around me. Why is he in this place?

“You stalked me?” I said I didn't like it. I continued my steps towards the cashier.

“My office is around here. My boss asked me to buy a drink for a meeting this afternoon.” He's laughing a little. “Is it so hard for you to accept that we met by accident?”

“My expenses are a lot. You better queue at another cashier. Your boss is definitely waiting.” I stood behind him after getting into the queue. A mother in front of me was waiting for her groceries to be scanned by officers.

“Are you worried your husband saw us together so you're afraid to be seen chatting with me?” he asked who was still standing behind me.

“Of course I have my own reasons. But you will definitely not believe me,” he said in a sad tone. I would like to leave this place immediately. There was the sound of vibrating things. Not from my bag.

“Ya, Son,” says Aldo. It turned out that his phone was vibrating. “Do not cry. Speak clearly. What's?! Aye, yes. Dad's home now.”

After paying for all my groceries, I received my card back. Without saying anything more, I immediately left the counter. I stood in front of the main door and waited until Kafin came.

“Ara, did you bring your own car?” asked Aldo who suddenly stood by me. “Ah, I've called a taxi, all their units are on duty. I need to get my son to the hospital. I only have a motorbike, it will not be convenient to take someone to the hospital.”

“Contact ambulance. Riding in my car won't help much either. You can see for yourself the creeping traffic because it's lunchtime,” I said I don't understand. Why did he ask me for help?

“Waiting for ambulance too long. Children will not open their doors to strangers. I beg. My house is not far from here,” her insistence again. Kafin came, he opened the car door for me before taking over the grocery trolley. “Ara ...” I really hate this day.

“Come.” I finally gave up. He walked around and got into the car from my right side. I know he panicked, but why didn't he help Kafin put things in the trunk so we could get out of here faster?

“Dad will be here in about five or ten minutes. Don't do anything to your sister's hand. No, don't give ice, warm water or anything. Dad's in a minute until.” He continued to talk to his son even until Kafin was out of the supermarket parking area.

Aldo pointed out the path my driver had to take without ending the phone call. It turned out that he was speaking honestly, the distance of his house was not far. He lives at the back of the main road and is also crowded. But the road is not as crowded as the traffic on the main road. Waiting until the ambulance arrives will take more time than using my car. Going back to his office first to pick up his motorcycle, it will also take a long time.

The house is very simple. Maybe because he lives alone. Why are his children home? Didn't they say they lived with their parents? Then why are they even here?

“Please, wait a minute. I'll be right back,” he said begging. I'm nodding. I looked towards Kafin who was just silent in the front seat. If Hendra comes to ask him anywhere and meets with anyone I am today, then not only me, he can also be in big trouble.

Not long after, Aldo came out of the house with his three children. The oldest is the female, the only one who is not crying. He held his younger brother who seemed to be his second child, while Aldo carried his youngest. No one else came out with them. How could he leave such small children without adult supervision?
