After a month of more time in Indonesia, Claudia and Mason finally returned to their country. In addition to visiting more places, they deliberately wait until there is good news from their children. His wait bore fruit. Princess Claudia is pregnant. He's so happy because he and I are really going to be a family.
Hendra keeps reminding her that the parents' plan is not necessarily the children's plan either. We have to wait until they are old enough to know if they want to marry each other. And it was a long time ago.
“I don't care. I will pray during the night if necessary so that they are betrothed by God.” Claudia insisted. We just laughed.
After driving her away, Hendra and I headed to one of the malls. Today is her mother's birthday. We want to give him a gift. Mama loved jewelry so much, so we chose one of her latest collections from her favorite brands.
“No feel. Soon Christmas Day.” I heard the song played by the store carefully. “What should we do on Christmas Eve?”
“You are pregnant. We can't travel far. Better at home,” he said. I pouted hearing it, then a plan flashed through my mind.
“We can have dinner together at my parents' house. All of you also invite Official,” said I gave a suggestion. He nodded in agreement.
“This is her necklace and this is her receipt, sir.” The shopkeeper returned, then gave my husband a shopping bag and a piece of paper.
We headed to his parents' house. The house I always considered my second home, but now it is no longer. I'm not even considered a son-in-law anymore by my two in-laws. And because of me, Mama lost her best friend.
I felt my hands touched. I looked up and saw Hendra smiling at me. He's very kind. Be patient with me to live all this. His relationship with his parents was broken because he didn't want to leave me. Hows it? How do I fix all this?
“Don't say anything while at home later. Let me do the talking. You understand?” hendra said for the umpteenth time. I'm nodding.
The butler greeted us kindly and led us to the sitting room. He left us, and a lady-servant came to bring me food and drink and Hendra. When the door opened, Mom and Dad came in.
They did not want to come near us at all. Neither did henry. I swallowed heavily. As they sat with the table between us, my husband also invited me to sit down. We were silent for a moment, no one started the conversation.
“Papa and Mama are healthy?” ask Hendra.
“You can see for yourself,” replied Mama.
“Happy birthday, yes, Ma. Za and I wanted to take Papa and Mama to dinner together but all our calls were ignored. So, we ventured to come here.” Hendra put down a bag containing a diamond necklace for Mama. “We can't give much. But hope Mama likes this gift.”
“Only one gift I want from you two. And you know it.” Mom stood up from her seat. Hendra and I stood up. “Don't come again. I don't want to see you guys together like this. You two make me sick.”
“Do you think I would praise your relationship and call it true love? All you have is a charade. One love dies blind to the fault of his partner. The other one is full of deceit just for the sake of wealth,” said Mama Sharp. “Security officers will not open the gate again if you dare to come to this house.”
Without saying anything else, Mama walked out of the room. Papa sighed softly. “Today your mother's mood is not good. You guys go home.”
I looked towards Papa who just lowered his head, completely unwilling to look at me. While outside the room, I looked up at the stairs where Mama's room was. This house feels different now. It was cold, with no emotion at all.
Arriving home, Hendra did not take me to the room as usual. He took me to the side porch of the house. When the door opened, I finally understood. He had asked our waiter to serve dinner on the terrace. Hendra helped me to sit down, then he sat down in front of me.
“Thank you. It's a nice surprise!” happy say. Hendra smiled.
“Thank God, you love it.” He scooped a few thin pieces of fish onto my plate. “Eat. You must be hungry.”
We eat in silence. The cold wind that blew that night signaled that the rain would soon fall. My appetite increased because of it. I touched my stomach when I felt movement. Hendra looked at me questioningly.
“He greeted me,” I said answering a question he did not say.
“Oh, yes?” He stood up and immediately knelt by my side. He put his hand near mine. “Wah. The kick is strong once.”
“It seems he also likes the dinner menu that has been prepared by his father,” I said. The little guy agreed by giving me another kick. We laughed at it. “Tuh, right, ‘kan? He directly replied yes.”
“Hei, hotshot. Even if I'm not mad at you, don't think I'd agree to see you hurt my wife like this. Slowly kick it a little,” Hendra told my stomach. She shrieked softly as the little one retorted. “Well, are you challenging me? You've dared to fight your father, huh?”
“Stop, Hendra. Don't scold my son,” I said while laughing amusedly.
“You heard that? You have made my wife angry with me. See what I will do to you when you are born. I'll make a calculation.” Hendra wrapped his right hand around my back. I replied by hugging her neck. “Big fast, Son. We can't wait to see you soon.”
“But beware, don't fall in love with your mother. She's my wife. Even though her beauty charms you, don't expect me to let you take it away from me. You hear that?” said Hendra who only made me laugh more. “But you are calm. You already have a prospective wife who is no less beautiful.”
“Oh, I really hope he's like Claudia.” I cheered happily. Hendra looked at me not understanding. “Blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She must be so beautiful!”
“No, no. I don't agree. Our son can not be confident later when approaching him.” Hendra shook hard. “He should be just like his father. Eyed and black-haired.”
“Our son will be like you. The forward continues to abstain from retreat as he finds his love,” I said confidently. Hendra laughed a little. “Take it easy, Son. I'll teach you how to conquer a woman's heart properly. You can definitely win your fiance's heart easily as pretty as she is.”
Hendra moved his chair beside me. We continued eating while continuing to talk to the little guy who no longer kicked me. Our voices calmed him down. Hendra came closer and kissed me on the cheek.
“You will be a cool mom,” she said praising.
“And you will be a great father,” I said reply. He looks sad. But only a glimpse. Because he immediately smiled at me.
