The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 211 - Only Temporary

“You know that your mama is an independent woman who does not like to depend on others. That's why he won't tell anyone. He doesn't want anyone to pity him. He also does not want anyone trying to change his mind to do a mastectomy,” replied Papa.

“Change your mind about mastectomy? What do you mean, Pa?” my question does not understand.

“It was a big operation and once you lose an important part of your body, then that part will never come back. His brother would definitely not agree to see him as imperfect anymore. They must have been more supportive of him doing radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Moreover, the stadium is still small,” replied Papa.

“But it will be more painful and take longer. She lost another part of her body. I read from several health articles, both cancer treatments can cause hair loss, reduce appetite, and other side effects. It's the same as torturing Mama slowly, Pa.”

“True. But the point is not that. Doctors who know better the best way out they can offer to patients. The next decision is in the hands of the patient. Anyone can't try to influence him if he doesn't want to follow another procedure.”

“Mama's family will not stop influencing her decision, therefore Mama kept her illness a secret,” I said concluded.

“True.” Papa nodded his head. “All phones from them are just that. They protested and were angry at your mama and me.” Papa sighed softly. “Do not worry. It's only temporary. Eventually too they will stop terrorizing us.”

I came home because Papa needed a break. Ara welcomed us with her joy. Hadi and Colin walked down the stairs with their sleepy faces just waking up. For sure today they swam in the school pool to the point of exhaustion.

We went into the family room together. I laid Dira who was still sleeping on the carpet after being covered with blankets and pillows by Yuyun. Then I sat down with Hadi and Colin on my right and left. Hadi wrapped his hands around my body with his head on my chest. I hugged Colin because I knew he was reluctant to embrace me.

“What do you want to do this afternoon?” ask me while stroking their fine hair.

“I'm tired of playing at home. We go to the park, yuk, Ma,” Hadi proposed. I smiled at him.

“How, Colin? You also want to go to the park?” ask my son's best friend.

“Mau, Aunt.” He nodded slowly, then distanced himself from me. “Tante was from Hadi's grandmother's house, ‘kan? How is it today?” I think he forgot about Mama's situation after a few days he didn't ask. Apparently he's still thinking about it.

“Good. From the results of a temporary examination, there were no cancer cells in his body. Hopefully the results of the examination in the next month are also so.” Colin's face turned cheerful.

“Really, Auntie? That's great!” said happy. I smiled with him. “There is a lot of happy news in this week.”

“What's the news again?” aska I want to know. He widened his smile.

“Papa has never been as happy now. Papa often talk on the phone or send messages to each other whether with whom. His face was very happy. Papa kept smiling. Papa hasn't been that way in a long time. Papa likes to be sad at night. Papa thought I was asleep, but I saw him moody while accompanying me to sleep.”

“Saturday and Sunday too Papa is happy. I'm fine not to go for a walk with Papa. As long as he comes to pick me up, Papa is happy,” he said with a big smile. I don't know why I was so moved to hear it. I rubbed his head.

“Colin good boy,” praise me sincerely. Hold on a second, yeah. You will be happy when you know who has made your father change so. I can only hide. Will is more entitled to say what he did out there at the weekend to his son.

Not long after, Dira woke up. We enjoyed an afternoon snack. I helped clean his face so that his sleepiness was reduced. Liando accompanied us to the playground near the house. He who was holding Ara's necklace also took Hadi and Colin's hands. I carried Dira who was still sleepy.

The park was full of children playing together. I let Hadi and Colin join them. Liando helps me keep an eye on the kids as well as Ara. I talk to the mothers who take care of their children. We are not as familiar as I am with my friends, but I do not forget them whenever there is an event in our house. We always invite them.

We returned home at five in the afternoon. Hendra will be home at six, I don't want the kids not ready for dinner when he arrives. I helped Dira clean up, while Liando helped Hadi and Colin.

“Papa go home ..!!” greet Hadi and Dira when hearing the roar of Hendra's car in the front yard. Colin caught up with them when he heard the sound of his papa's car. Justjust wonderful. How can they distinguish the sound of their respective papa vehicles?

Ara also did not want to lose welcoming the return of her master. He jumped into the arms of Hendra who was hugging our two children. Her happy salutation immediately filled the front hall of our house. I just shook my head to see her behavior.

My husband looked at me meaningfully while pointing at Will with his eyeballs. The man was eating his dinner with a smile that did not disappear from his face. We just kept quiet and decided not to tease her. I prefer to talk about Hadi's academic development in school.

“You have to wait until next Saturday to know the official academic report,” said Will who did not want to tell many clues about the development of Hadi at school.

“Holiday for three months later, you and Colin have plans what?” aska I want to know. Hendra and I have our own plans for our family.

“Colin wanted to visit his grandmother in America, so I changed my mind. We will be there for the summer. There's a summer camp she wants to join and I've registered her name.” His face turned serious. “It's a good time to also test the thing I'm feeling to you guys know who I mean.”

“You sure about that? You're not afraid that some rich guy will overtake you?” godaku's. He said it was one of the reasons he wanted to get close to Gista. I'm sure their relationship is still unstable, but he's quite confident of a long-distance relationship.

“How about you guys? What are your plans for school holidays?” he deliberately ignored my question. I'm laughing a little. Although Hadi seemed busy talking to Colin, I knew that the two young men were listening to our conversation.

“Our plan is still secret, but we will go somewhere together. My mama is getting better, so we can leave them for a while.” Hendra looked at Hadi meaningfully. He knew that our son was still hoping to get a hint of what secret places we would visit later.

“Where are we going, Pa? Why can't I know?” hadi whinek. My husband and I laughed. Right, ‘kan? He stole listen.
