The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 30 - The Letter of Agreement

But there's nothing I can do. I have long given my heart to another man. It is not that easy to turn my heart to a new man even if that man is my own husband. No matter what Hendra does, I won't be able to love him. Nope. I won't love her. I close my lips. Not a word came out of my mouth.

I closed my eyes as my husband wiped the tears from my cheeks. Then a kiss landed on my eyelids, on both of my cheeks, and ended on my lips. Her kiss was loving, hopeful, full of promise, unchanged from the first time she kissed me.

“Even hours I wait in my work space. There's a file you need to sign. When you're done, the house will soon belong to your family again, Mama will soon have her heart surgery, and Zach is free from her dealings with the mafia

I looked at him in disbelief. Hendra was looking at me seriously. The file I need to sign? My heart started to beat hard. Since when do we no longer trust each other? Since when do we need a letter of agreement to be signed?

Oh, dearGod. Hendra no longer believes in me. My husband now needs a file to make sure I do what I promise. My body is back shaking. Being a helpless party was truly terrifying.

“Good,” I said with a vibrating voice. Her gaze softened.

“Then we will have lunch together as a celebration,” he said softly.

“Lunch together?” I frowned. What celebration should be enlivened by lunch together? Only he will be happy from signing the deal.

“Iya. Do you mind?” tanyakanya. I shook my head quickly, knowing that I was not in a position to protest or express my opinion. “Come, we have breakfast.”

He took my hand towards the dining room downstairs. Breakfast for us was on the dinner table. Seeing that there were only the two of us in the room, I let out a sigh of relief. I was in a state of chaos and did not want anyone to look at me with an unhappy face.

If usually the food made by Yuyun is so delicious, this time I can not enjoy it. I had to force myself to chew and swallow the food in my mouth. I was relieved that Hendra wasn't talking to me. I also chose to be quiet. There's nothing I can say anymore. If I want Mama operated on and Zach out of that mafia gang, I need Hendra. And my family needs it.

I refrained from standing at the door leading to my husband's departure, squeezing my hands tightly together. I rushed into the house as soon as Hendra's car had come out of the gate of our house. I quickly climbed the stairs to the top floor.

I immediately opened the desk drawer where I usually hide my pregnancy-preventing medication. I didn't find a tablet in it. Not surprisingly. I checked all the drawers and cabinets. Under the bed, there were also no signs of the drug.

I checked the clothes room all the way to the corners of the secret storage. Niente. There was not a single tablet of medicine that my husband left behind. Not giving up, I checked the bathroom. After checking all the corners in the room, I found nothing.

My vision was then shifted to the trash can under the sink. I opened the lid of the trash can and looked at the empty medicine board. There is not a single tablet left. Even the tablets from the stock of medicine that I kept in my secret place were also thrown away.

“No,” my word limp.

I sat on the floor. My hand touched my stomach. No. gabe. I don't want to have children. I don't want to be imprisoned forever in a loveless marriage. This is not the kind of life I want to give to my son. She must never know that her mother never loved her father. Lying to such an innocent little creature would only make me even more tormented. And I'm tired of living in pretense.

I covered my face with both hands. I cried and stopped after no more tears. Tired of the emotional ups and downs so drastically, I chose to lie in bed. I let the drowsiness take hold of me and seize my consciousness.

When I woke up, I almost cried thinking I should go see my husband. I don't want to see him. But I have to. I went into the bathroom with my steps dragged and forced myself to stand under the shower.

My mood was not good, so I decided to wear casual clothes to avoid wearing complete makeup. I wore a short-sleeved white shirt and long blue jeans, fitted with a dark brown blazer. After putting on face powder and lipstick, I came out of the room.

Downstairs, I saw Abdi passing from the front door to the back of the house. I told him I was going out. The man understood. I headed to the garage from the side door and saw Liando cleaning my car.

“Good day. Thank you for cleaning my car.” I tried to smile at him.

“Sama-sama, Mistress.” Liando opened the back door for me. I looked at him confused. I immediately opened the bag and searched for my car keys. “Master gave your car keys to me this morning.”

“What?” My gaze was shifted on the car keys Liando was holding. “Give me the key.”

“Sorry, Mistress. Sir ordered me to deliver you to the destination this afternoon.” He kept the key out of my reach and was still standing next to the open door.

“I can drive myself. Thank you,” reject me smooth.

“No to today, Mistress.” He insisted. I could feel my anger rising.

“I am also your master, Liando. It's not just Hendra's orders that you need to listen to,” I said seriously. “Give me the key.”

“I'm sorry. But no, Madam.” He's not afraid of me at all. Real nice.

“You ...” My words stopped because the phone in my bag was shaking. I exhaled angrily reading Hendra's name on the phone screen. “Ya?”

“I asked Liando to take you to my office. Get in the car now and don't give him any trouble. I waited for you in my room,” said Hendra firmly.

“But,” How could he know? I look around me. Was it Yuyun or Abdi who complained to him? I am the mistress of this house, but only my husband's orders are heard.

“Do I need to come and pick you up now?” I close my lips to hear my husband's words. “I consider your silence as yes. See you in my office.”

My hand squeezed firmly into the cell phone that was inside my grasp. I put the phone back in the bag. I got into the car without saying anything more. Liando drove to my husband's office as fast as he could.

I could only frown all the way because I was annoyed with the partisanship of our workers. I didn't wait until Liando turned around to open the car door once we arrived in front of the office building where my husband's family-owned company was located. I immediately got out of the car and walked towards the main entrance.

I shouldn't be surprised to see a woman greet me and accompany me in the elevator. The woman led me into a room I knew as my husband's office.

Hendra was not alone in his room. Our family lawyer was there too. The two men stood up as I walked in approaching them. Mr. Oscar stretched out his hand, I shook his hand for a moment. Hendra invited me to sit by his side, while Mr. Oscar sat across the street with a table between us.

“Thank you for coming, Mahendra. You asked me to make a letter of agreement for both of you to sign.” Mr. Oscar put a map in front of me. “Please Mom read first.”

I looked at Mr. Oscar and Hendra in turn. I took the map and opened it. The letter contains my agreement with my husband regarding my duties and responsibilities as a wife, his duties and responsibilities as a husband, regarding the rights of children, and the rights of children, and a ban that Hendra and I cannot break as husband and wife.

Specifically Hendra included points regarding repayment of my family's debts and the protection of any party who tried to hurt or harm us. The point is, I just need to be a good wife and she will protect me and my family from any problems.
