The Untouched Heart

The Untouched Heart
Chapter 106 - Losing the Trace

“Sign, Za. We have to catch them,” urged Hendra from inside the car. Oh, aye. I immediately closed the open car door, then sat in the front seat, and put my seatbelt on. My whole body is shaking. My daughter. My daughter.

“Ma, Where are you going? Who are they, Ma?” I started to sound panicked.

“Quiet, yes, Son. We'll bring Dira back.” Hendra did not take his eyes off the car that drove a few miles in front of us. He gave me his phone. “Please, contact a man named Irwan.”

“A-me,” I said with a vibrating voice. Hendra clasped my hand.

“Za, focus. Strengthen yourselves. Dira needs us to stay calm. So, call a guy named Irwan immediately. Then turn on the loudspeaker,” Hendra said giving instructions.

“Ba-baik.” I opened her phone screen using the PIN she mentioned, then touched the phone emblem and searched for Irwan's name. I called him and touched the loudspeaker. The sound of a ringing tone filled the car.

“Ya, Hendra,” greet the man named Irwan.

“Please follow this car.” Hendra mentioned the license plate number of the car we were following and the type of car. He also mentioned where we were exactly.

“OK. We've already found him. I also saw your Range Rover behind him,” the man said. How could he know? Is there a camera connected to the satellite? “You should be fast because a few meters away there is no nearby CCTV that we can enter to continue monitoring it. The next CCTV is too far away and they could have turned in one of the alleys when we lost their trail.” THE CCTV? Who is this guy named Irwan? The cops?

“The road is crowded and I can't just haphazardly drive. Do something, Irwan.” Hendra started to sound panicked. “They took my daughter!”

“We lost them. Do you still see it there?” ask Irwan. I'm getting panicked. The car was already far ahead of us, so I couldn't see it between the cars that were in front of us. “Iya. We lost them. I saw your car passing by, but they didn't show up before you. They must have turned between the roads along the blind spot.”

Hendra hit the steering wheel hard. “Do something, Irwan.” I'm getting panicked.

“I will call all my colleagues who are around there and check every road that is in the blind spot. I'm sorry, Hendra. But we will definitely get your daughter back.”

“Oke.” Phone connection is cut. Hendra pulled the car over.

I started crying. My daughter. We lost track of him. How are we gonna find him now? She must be crying in fear. What do they want from taking my daughter away from me? Oh, dearGod. I hope they won't hurt him.

Without saying anything, Hendra drove his car back. We arrived at the villa a few moments later. He got out of the car and helped Hadi to get down. I was surprised when he also helped me to get out of the car. We entered the villa together. The puppy immediately greeted us, but we could not give the response he had expected.

“I'll put Hadi to bed,” said Hendra. I nodded and sat on the sofa. I jumped in surprise when I felt a tremor from inside my bag. Zach's name appears on the screen.

“Halo,” gently sweep.

“Hai, Brother! Mama wants to meet her grandchildren but you weren't home. So we only had five dinners. What did Abdi say was right? You stayed with them at Hendra's apartment?” asked Zach in a seductive tone. I would be angry and reply with annoyance if the conditions were not like this.

“No. We're at Peak, at Hendra.” villa I suddenly sobbed.

“My daughter. Someone kidnapped Dira.” I felt a touch on my back. I turned my head, then Hendra took my phone out of my hand.

“Don't tell anyone, Zach. I don't want Om Yosef or Aunt Anya to worry,” said Hendra firmly. “I can't tell you anything yet. I should call my friends and ask about their search progress. Right, Irwan. Ja. See you later.”

The puppy whimpered a little at my feet. I looked up and saw him looking for something. “Is this dog hungry?” I asked Hendra.

“She seems to be agitated because we've gone home but didn't find Dira.” Hendra sat by my side and called someone. “How? Okay. I wait.”

“What happened? They found it?” askaku expectantly. He shook his head slowly.

“They're still combing the location where we lost Dira. Irwan asked us to wait until he called us. She needs her phone to be ready to receive a call from her co-worker who is doing a search.”

“Dira must be crying right now. He can't get close to strangers. What's happening to him now? What if they hurt her because she doesn't stop yelling at us? And what if they end his life and throw him off the road?” I can't stop my head thinking about all those bad possibilities. “Please, do something.”

“No one will be able to escape this incident, Za. Whoever they are, I'll make them regret ever touching Dira.” Hendra touched my hand. “Strong yourself. Dira will need you very much later.”

I leaned my head on him. Hendra let go of his hand, then hugged my body. And I finally spilled all the fear and worry that I was holding in his arms. Oh, dearGod. Hope Dira is okay.

The barking puppy caught my attention. We saw him staring at the door while barking sadly. He even started clawing at the door uneasily. I looked towards Hendra. “Do you think he's not acting strangely?”

“Maybe she smelled Dira in the car, so she thinks our daughter is hiding there.” Hendra let go of his embrace and stood up. He opened the door and right, the puppy darted into the car. And barked right at the door where Dira usually sat. “Ara, Dira is not here.” Hendra opened the car door.

The puppy groaned sadly. He barks back when Hendra closes the door. He opened it again and now the dog is trying to reach into the car. Hendra. He lifted his body and put it in the car. The puppy sniffed Dira's chair. Then he barked loudly at Hendra. We exchanged looks.

“I know this sounds crazy. But it looks like he wants us to go find Dira.” guess my potluck. Hendra was stunned for a moment.

“Labrador Retriever is a great trail-seeking dog. The Golden Retriever ability was beneath him, but he was still a child. I've also never trained him for it.” Hendra shook slowly. “No harm tried. I'll call the housekeeper to take care of Hadi.”

“Shortly. Are you sure you'll leave our son in someone else's custody?” manyworry. He smiled and then stroked my cheek.

“I never did not check the background of the people who worked for me. They are clean and very loyal. They have never disappointed me once. So, don't worry. They will take good care of Hadi.” He went into the house. I looked towards the puppy who was barking in protest thinking his master was not listening to his request.

“She only calls people for a while so that someone takes care of Hadi. We're gonna go find Dira. Please, help us find our daughter.” He shakes his head when he hears me talk. He barked when I mentioned Dira's name.

“Enter. We go.” Hendra's circling the car. I looked towards the door. The couple guarding the villa smiled sadly at me. I nodded my head and got into the car.

“Rekans Irwan still hasn't found anything. Hopefully Ara can help us.” The puppy barked hearing his name called.
