I have absolutely no idea what Hendra has prepared. All I know is that today's event was prepared exactly as I wanted. It's a lot different from our wedding that I don't care what the event looks like and all the details.
Mama and Rasmi kidnapped me from my room in the early hours of the morning. They even forced me to go into the bathroom and get ready. Hendra just laughed and continued sleeping. Seeing the two women still sitting on the sofa, my intention to make out a moment with my husband was forced to cancel.
The makeup and hair stylists were ready to do their duty as I walked into the living room. My friends were there too. The calm atmosphere for a moment was already boisterous with the debate about my hairstyle or the color of my makeup. We've discussed this before and we've agreed on everything. But not the woman's name if it does not suddenly change at the last second.
As soon as I finished dressing up, they helped me put on white kebaya and cloth to cover my lower body. I chose kebaya over gown to distinguish between a wedding day and a birthday. Tears pressed out as I looked at my reflection in the mirror. This is my dream wedding.
“Zahara? What was? Why are you crying?” peekik Qiana panicked.
“Zahara? Your makeup will be broken. Hey, what's up? Why are you crying? Is there something wrong with the danger?” ask Lindsey to worry.
“Quiet, quiet. He's just emotional.” Mama gave me a tissue to help wipe away the tears without breaking my makeup.
“What's the fuss, say?” The makeup artist that was out of the room for a while so I could get dressed in. “Zahara, yes, geez, baby! Don't cry like this. Well, well, your makeup could be broken again. I don't want to, lo, my reputation is broken because your makeup is so ugly.”
“Everything quickly fix. I haven't been diras. Fast!” qiana panicked.
Two hours into the event, they were still noisily looking for shoes, brooches, hair clips, even earrings that were suddenly invisible. I just sat there looking at the chaos in front of me. There are photographers and cameramen who capture every moment. I can't wait to see the results later. Entertainment will color my days.
Liando repeatedly walked into the room and reminded us that it was time to leave or we would all be late. My friends are getting hysterical. Mama laughed whenever she easily managed to find the item they were looking for.
Arriving at the hotel, I could not go straight to the garden where the event was held. My designer was waiting to put a loose tail on the shirt I was wearing. The makeup team put the last touches on my face and hair, and I was ready to meet my husband.
My heart was pounding rapidly as I walked out of the room towards the door to the garden. Papa was waiting for my arrival. He looked at me in awe for a moment. Then he hugged and kissed me on the cheek. “You ready?” I nodded quickly.
Papa gave me his arm, I wrapped my hand around the curve of his arm. I smiled when the door opened. We passed through the corridor before arriving at the wooden arbor decorated with fresh flowers. I smiled to see the children running to greet me.
“Mama! Mama!” dira approached me. Zach immediately grabbed him, then carried him.
“Dira, you can be with Mama later. We play flowers first, yes,” persuade my sister.
“Mama!” ask my daughter with a face. I approached and kissed her cheek.
“Dira, here.” Officially lift a small basket containing flower petals. The girl immediately extended her hand. Zach sighs in relief. He took my daughter closer to his wife. Then he was put back on his feet in the grass holding his basket.
Piano strains playing “I Get to Love You” popularized by Ruelle. Ara walked in first which was greeted with applause from the invited guests. Hadi and Dira followed while spreading the petals of flowers in the basket. Zeph and Charlotte followed them. Then me and Papa walked through the wooden arbor. I remembered Hendra's words to focus only on him to reduce my nervousness.
Then I could no longer hold back my tears. Because the song was very emotional for me. My heart and soul were broken when Hendra and I got married. I still loved a man for the first few years of our marriage. But his love for me changed me and my life. Until I came to the conclusion that I wasn't forced to love her. I chose to love him.
We've had so much together, testing our love and marriage vows. We even decided to give up and split up. Then the bigger test came when we realized that we still loved each other. And we survived. Through this song I promised her, no matter what happens, I will never leave her side again.
“Mr and Mother, come on. It's a happy day. Why shed tears?” said Gista who led the event. She cleared her throat slowly, indicating that she had just cried too. We laughed when we heard it. “Good. We listen to this happy couple making us jealous with their faithful vows back.”
Hendra smiled at me. He took a deep breath before he started talking. “Za, I love you. And I am the luckiest man in the world for being your husband. I know that there is no perfect marriage, neither is our marriage. But I wouldn't choose another woman if time could be turned back.
“I also will not cancel our separation, because five years not together it makes the bond between us stronger. People won't believe this, but you're the best woman I've ever known. Not only are you beautiful and physically beautiful, your stubbornness in the face of trouble for the sake of trouble, your tenderness in raising our children, and your patience in the face of my possessiveness make me fall even more in love.
“Only with you can I be who I always hide from others. I am not ashamed of being fragile, spoiled, and always looking for attention when with you. You're the only woman who makes me feel comfortable taking off my mask and being myself. And I can't wait to live out what else the surprise has prepared for us tomorrow. I am not afraid because I will live it with you forever, Madam Mahendra Satya Perkasa.”
Ever since he said the first sentence, tears were rushing down both of my cheeks. I can't help it. Not her, I'm the luckiest woman in the world. Hendra helped wipe my tears. I need a few minutes to calm down. She hugged and kissed me on the cheek until I stopped crying. Our friends clapped and cheered in support so I could control my emotions faster.
“I love you more, Hendra,” I said in a teasing tone. She laughs. I'm sure he remembered the first night I expressed my feelings to him. “I am a stubborn woman who is heartbroken and not ready to fall in love again when we are first together. But you are so patient in facing me with your love and care.
“You healed the wound in my heart, taught me to love again, to believe again. You believed me when others turned their faces away from me. You stayed by my side when the others pointed their index fingers at me. You even protected me from those who tried to hurt me.
“I'm sorry it took me so long to realize that I love you. I'm sorry I had to make a mistake to know that you were the man in my heart. Not the other one. And I'm sorry I let you go without trying to hold you back from staying with me.
“I have so many regrets but I don't want to regret anymore. I will try to keep our love as strong as possible. I will be with you until death do us part. Don't ever leave me, baby. You know that I'm not perfect. But don't leave if you find something better than me. Don't get out of my life when things get tough on us.
“Because if you dare to do so, I have five friends who will help me get you back. I'm not kidding. You can't leave my life anymore. You're stuck forever with me.”
Hearing the laughter of the guests, I knew that Darla, Qiana, Lindsey, Claudia, and Rasmi were already standing behind me according to our plan to show how serious I was. Hendra shook his head. Without waiting for instructions from Gista, he approached me, wrapped his hands around my body, then kissed my lips.
“Looks like I'm no longer needed. Our partner already has their own agenda,” Gista Goda. Everyone laughed when they heard it. “I know this next event will be very boring because who likes to hear speeches? There aren't. But you can't complain if you want a free lunch.” The sound of laughter was heard again.
“The first opportunity I gave to Mr. Adhyana Mighty.” I looked in the same direction that Gista saw. I stared in disbelief. Not only Papa, Mama also came. How could? Aren't they still angry with me?
