Fauzi had to leave Karin in the middle of his chat when his phone rang, getting an incoming call from his wife. Fauzi stepped a few steps from his previous position with Karin to receive his call.
Hearing Salwa's stammering voice from across the phone, Fauzi was startled.
“Iya why darling? You why??”?
“A-me... I'm lost.”
Getting lost? Where did he get lost? Salwa never went far without my permission.
“Missed?? Lost where? Where are you going?” Fauzi asked to confirm where his wife was headed.
“Mikaylaa's chat.. I-I'll pick up Mikayla.”
Deggs... His heart was beating instantly, whether he was hearing wrong, or Salwa who was wrong said.
Fauzi was puzzled by what Salwa had said. How can he get lost, while the distance from home to Salwa school is not far. And again, even if it was a long distance, Salwa should not have gotten lost on the road she had been on for almost a year, every time she picked up Mikayla. “What Salwa misdirected??”
“You want to pick up Mikayla, and you get lost??” once again Fauzi made sure, what his wife said. Fauzi was very hopeful, what his wife said was just a mistake.
For a moment Salwa was silent, whether she was digesting Fauzi's question or something else happened there.
“Fa-Fauzi, I don't know where to go. I-I don't know.”
Fauzi is getting unsettled. Right, his wife is lost now. What worries and fears Fauzi, not about his wife who is lost. But the condition of his wife, who could not recognize the region and the surrounding environment to feel lost.
“What do you see now??” Ask Fauzi quickly.
“Ha?” Salwa sounded confused.
Fauzi's feeling grew increasingly ill hearing his wife's response which sounded confused and a little sluggish.
“What can you see now?? What's up there?” Fauzi asked again with his eyes that began to glaze over given the state of his wife.
“La-field.. To-shop with baby pictures and.”..
Back Fauzi felt excruciating pain. Before he was still hoping, his wife was really lost somewhere a little far from his house, or if the road he had never been through. But what Salwa had just said about what she saw made Fauzi realize even more, that his wife was lost where she should not be.
“You don't know that place??”
Fauzi still hopes even a little, that this is a mistake. Back Fauzi asked, hoping his wife could answer the appropriate thing.
“Ti-no.. Fauzi come quickly here, I'm afraid.”
The tears that had only puddled in his eyes, now spilled without warning. Fauzi could no longer hold him back, his wife who was completely blind to the path that every day in her life made Fauzi no longer able to hold back his feelings.
“OK.. Stay there, don't go anywhere, I'm there now. Don't turn off the phone!!”
Fauzi wiped his tears, not wanting his sadness to be seen by Karin.
There was nothing Fauzi could think of other than his wife. Previously, Fauzi's feelings were relieved, considering the last four days his wife had returned as before. But today, the strangeness that happened to his wife happened again, even becoming more severe than before.
“Karin, sorry. I have to go home now”
“Why? What was? Did something happen?”
Fauzi just nodded.
“I first.”
Fauzi rushed over, grabbed his bag and walked quickly to his car, leaving Karin still clueless as to what was happening.
Karin's views continued to follow Fauzi's steps until Fauzi could no longer be caught in sight.
“What happened something bad?” Karin muttered. “Ah shit, why did I forget to ask for Fauzi” phone number
Karin glanced at the clock on her phone screen. He immediately rushed over, considering he had other important things he had to do today.
The car is moving fast. I don't know how many times the horn sounds came from the car Fauzi was driving. Fauzi was eager to get rid of the other cars that were scattered on the road.
Worry continues to envelop Fauzi's feelings, considering Salwa's condition can be considered bad at this time.
Repeatedly Fauzi thought, but still his wife's behavior this time could not make sense. Salwa's very illogical behavior makes Fauzi immediately want to approach his wife, before something unexpected happens.
It always crossed Fauzi's memory, the bad possibilities that would happen to his wife.
The car driver who did not know knowing was also the target of Fauzi's annoyance on the crowded road that made him unable to get to Salwa faster.
Fauzi recalled how his wife felt lost in an area not far from her home. The area that Salwa passes every day, either to pick up their daughter or to do other activities outside the house. How could his wife not recognize the place that he has been through the last 6 years.
The more Fauzi thought, the more unsettled he felt. His tears trickled back, he wanted to cry but was held back, not wanting Salwa to hear his cries from the phone that was still connected.
“Salwa.” Call Fauzi to make sure Salwa's condition.
“Iya.”
Although only that short answer, Fauzi felt better because at least his wife was still fine there even though his wife's mind could not be said to be good at this time.
“Wait for me baby, I'll be there soon.”
“Yes, be careful. Don't be too hasty, I'm not going anywhere kok”
“Yes, thanks for staying there.”
“Waituin you 6 years only I can, especially if only a few minutes.”
Fauzi was filled with his wife's answer, her tears just getting louder. Yes, the happy feeling Fauzi felt only with his wife who could remember the events in that long enough time.
“Please dear, thanks.”
Repeatedly Fauzi said a word of thanks to his wife who could still remember his wait at that time.
Fauzi's car drove faster than before after the road provided was more tenuous than.
Fauzi arrived at a place not far from his home, also a place that made his wife feel lost. Fauzi parked his car from across the street, considering that the road he was on was two lanes that had to force him to look for a corner if he wanted to pick up his wife right in front of him.
But impatient to see his wife makes Fauzi can no longer find a way to turn his car and choose to park across the street, then cross the road to approach his wife.
It was clearly seen by Fauzi, a relieved face wrapped in a sweet smile Salwa when she saw him walking across the road approaching her. His wife's smile that holds her own wounds.
His tears were on the caeca and he made sure there were no marks on his cheeks. Fauzi did not want to show Salwa the tears.
Fauzi hugged Salwa, letting go of all the worries he had felt earlier. Also venting his pain seeing his wife's current state.
“You okay?”
Salwa nodded in Fauzi's arms.
“I made you worry huh? Sorry yes dear.”
Salwa's guilt-ridden tone, made Fauzi feel pain again. His tears trickled down in Salwa's arms, the tighter his embrace, which he did not feel like letting go. Fauzi did not care about the views of others who passed the road, what he felt now would not be understood by others around him at this time.
“What a darling. Because I love you, so it's only natural that I'm worried that” Fauzi wipes her tears before taking off her arms from Salwa. “But you're really fine, right??” Fauzi's question made it clear his wife's circumstances. Although he knew, his wife's current state could not be said to be alright.
“Iya, I'm just scared”
“Now don't be afraid anymore. There I am.” Fauzi hugged Salwa.
From his irrational thoughts, Fauzi still hopes that what is happening right now is not real.
