The Goddess Of War

The Goddess Of War
Chapter 231 - Regret

Anna closed her eyes.

The focus was not on the long-range attack and the approaching soldier, but on the inner feeling that was deeply disturbing his mind.

Actually, he felt a little uncomfortable while killing those creatures whose shapes were very similar to those of humans.

'It feels like slaughtering a human on Earth.'

But, Anna had no other choice but to finish them off. Giving up and leaving was not an option he would take in a battle like this.

Anna also started to rage. To finish off the entire royal army that relied on the melee attack.

The spear in his hand spun, slashing, piercing and destroying the entire army around him.

Other than the horses he had not touched at all, not a single warrior in his surroundings could survive the Igigi spear in his hand.

•••

When more than 7,000 soldiers died, all that remained were soldiers made up of new soldiers and soldiers whose mentality had collapsed.

Seeing the brutality and sadism of his opponent, they ended up choosing to spin the horse and escape.

"If we push ourselves, we all might die! Let's go back first and report this to the great commander!" shouted one of the soldiers, giving advice to his comrades.

Hearing that someone finally dared to make a sound and invite to escape, the soldiers who really wanted to leave the dangerous place, immediately turned their horses back and fled together.

"You're right! Let's first report to the great commander!"

But, Anna who had already lost control of him, did not let them run away just like that. He chased after the troops right behind them and continued to finish off the soldiers he could chase at the speed of the horse he was riding.

"It's too late to run!" shouted Anna very loudly, while shaking her spear to and fro.

Seeing that the tail section of the army was being brutally annihilated, the soldiers who were in the front row, spurred the horse even more.

Their faces were pale white. During their lives, only this time did they see someone with such terrifying strength.

Later on, rumors will circulate that they have seen the most terrifying demigod figure ever.

•••

Anna continued to pursue them until midway between the kingdom of Eclovar and the forest belonging to the Trovan tribe.

He only stopped after feeling that the horse he was riding was exhausted. After all, the soldiers who escaped were only a thousand people left.

Anna left the horse and went back to the Trovan region by air travel.

From above, he saw thousands of bodies that he had just finished up lying along the road to the forest of the Trovan tribe.

Anna suddenly felt a little regretful and sad for it.

Of course, in addition to their appearance that was very similar to humans, Anna had just thought, maybe among the corpses, there was their family who was already looking forward to her return. They may be a father, or a child who works to support the family.

"Damn. What's wrong with me?" Anna suddenly felt very guilty.

He went down among the piles of corpses, looked at them one by one and cried there.

"I'm sorry..."

•••

Anna returns to the Trovan forest two days later only to pick up the goddess Ezili and the god Ogun. He plans to invite them to go look for the existence of the goddess Lyn after that.

Anna had just returned to the forest after regretting her actions after slaughtering the soldiers who might only be there to fulfill their paid jobs.

Anna also made gravestones for all the soldiers from river stones and hung their name plates on them.

°°°

Arriving in the forest, Anna immediately went to the gathering place of Werewolves and half-monkey humans.

Seeing the sadistic creature again present in their midst, the chieftain who when Anna was first captured ignored him, now greeted him first and welcomed his arrival very kindly.

"You're back? Do you want to pick up your pet?"

Anna did not respond to the Werewolf chieftain's greetings and questions. With a sad look, Anna simply nodded softly at the old wolf after silently pecking for quite a while.

Looking at the sad expression of the creature they had previously talked about with fear for those two days in a row, all the citizens who were there were naturally confused.

They thought Anna would come back threateningly and might as well kill those who had imprisoned her without knowing how dangerous she was. However, what they saw from his expression, was in fact very different.

It was completely different from the creature that went berserk two days ago. His face seemed devoid of spirit and sad.

At that moment, Lorelei who they had already released from the holding cell, came closer.

"Follow with me.." said Lorelei slowly.

Anna forced her smile and nodded.

The two eventually went towards the treehouse that the chief provided for Lorelei and Anna's two pets.

°°°

"Is he sad after killing those soldiers?" ask a werewolf to his friend.

"Maybe. I told you, the surveillance team saw him hauling away all the bodies and buried them in some distant, deserted place."

"Squeaky. Have you ever seen a sadistic slayer who immediately regretted his actions only a moment after he slaughtered a crowd?"

•••

Lorelei invited Anna to sit on the porch of a tree house that was very high from the ground.

From that place, they could see the view of the forest and hills that were on the north side of the Trovan region.

The view they could see from there was truly beautiful.

"You can sit here to calm your heart" said Lorelei softly, rubbing the back of Anna's hand.

He saw that the fingernails of the girl's hands were still black. Her beautiful face also looked freshly cleaned, just to get rid of dust and mud from her eyes, nose and mouth.

"You feel like you're killing your own people, don't you?" lorelei. He could guess what Anna was feeling.

Despite not acknowledging Lorelei's words, Anna turned to him and looked at him with a faint look.

"You have to get used to it. You won't know what will happen in the future. It's possible that you'll be fighting demons from another dimension. They're human too, just like you."

"Therefore I let you, too," added the god Ogun, who had been in the room since then, but Anna ignored him.

Anna remained silent for a long time, thinking about what they were saying, before finally speaking.

"I don't actually understand. Why didn't the goddess Ann tell the board of trustees that the magic portal that the goddess Lyn went through had been deflected? Isn't that how they're gonna help find him, too?"

"The Arnix family will be exterminated by the supervisory board if that happens" said the goddess Ezili.
