Nilam as much as possible to live his day as usual. Trying to put aside the affairs of the heart, and focus on the work of gratitude of the day was enough, so that his mind was distracted. But unfortunately it did not last as long as he hoped, because after finishing lunch, Nilam who was about to return to activities, stopped for a moment because of a call from his parents.
He breathed a tired breath, already knowing what they were going to talk about. But as usual, a polite attitude that has been embedded since childhood, makes him not dare to ignore the phone.
"Hello" he said slowly.
"Lam, you're working, son?" the father's quiet voice greeted his hearing.
"Yes, Sir. What's up?" ask Nilam.
I heard a little rough breathing from across.
"Continue then. Later when you get to the boarding house, please tell the father."
"What's up, sir?"
"Later. You just continue with the job, yeah. Careful."
The phone connection was broken by Mr. Indra. But instead of breathing a sigh of relief, Nilam's mind is getting more complicated.
The girl was again lethargic, because her mind was dragged back to the problems she was facing. It felt like Nilam wanted to hide somewhere, where no one could find him at the moment. He really felt troubled.
Time passed by so quickly, but it was boring for Nilam. He arrived at the boarding house, and immediately cleaned himself up. Wet the entire body up to the head, trying to find a sense of comfort there. Nil. All the problems that accumulate and he refuses to remember, racing urgently in his head. The buzzing, made him feel frustrated. Is it this weak? Just because of the affairs of romance, his world seemed bleak without color.
Ringing the phone that he originally placed on the mattress, stopping the movement of the hand that was rubbing the body cream throughout the body. He sighs. The time has come. He lazily accepted the call.
"Hello, sir."
"Lam, is it at the boarding house?"
"Already, sir."
"It's still busy, son?"
"No, sir. It's just been a shower. Relax again" he told a lie. Obviously a lie, because actually even though the body is not active, but his heart and mind are so busy with all the confusion that exists.
"What's your father again?" Nilam asked back.
"Not anymore. Sitting in the back garden, see koi swimming," said Mr. Indra with a small ruckus.
"What's up, sir?" Nilam asked again, this time his voice was more serious. He wanted to stop his bases with his father.
Momentary silence.
Mr. Indra has not answered his son's question. Maybe the guy is putting together the right word. Only a rude gasp sounded, which signified how much trouble Nilam was also a burden on his mind as a father.
"Lam, is it true that you canceled your marriage to Baskara, son?" ask Mr. Indra at last.
"Yes, sir," said Nilam weakly.
"Why decide such a big thing in an emotional state, son?"
"I'm no longer emotional, sir. I've thought of everything."
"How long have you thought about it?"
Patchouli silent. Can't answer his father's question. How long has he thought about his problem with the Bus? Wasn't she and her boyfriend okay? Even the next morning, they exchanged news.
"Lam, marriage isn't something you can play with. It concerns the crowd, not just you and Baskara. Don't make a rash decision, because it can affect family relationships."
"How shall I do then, sir? Continuing even though my heart is not ready for the situation?"
"Didn't you know what it was like, long before the wedding?"
"It's my fault, sir. I'm too arrogant. I thought I would be able to solve everything. Compressing problems, without thinking if all will spend a lot of energy to deal with them. I was wrong, for accepting Mas Bas's proposal too soon." Nilam's tears fell without being prevented again . He was crying, regretting everything that had happened. Her crying was so bitter, with her faithful father being the listener.
"I'm sorry, Lam. Because it has forced you to marry a man of choice father," said Mr. Indra weakly. Feeling sad and sorry when he heard the princess' cry that he could not even hug and calm down at this time.
"No sir! No that! It's nobody's fault, it's nobody's fault. It's my fault, 'cause the one undergoing is me. I'm comfortable with the Mas Bas. I love him sincerely, sir. He treated me very well. But behind that, I have to face her family. They're very different from us, sir. I don't think I can face Rahma and Utari every day." Still with a trembling voice, Nilam explained his feelings.
Again there was a rough sigh in Nilam's ear. Mr. Indra found it difficult to persuade his son. He also did not dare to impose his wishes, because this was all about Nilam's happiness.
"Then you want it now, what? Does it all have to end just like that? Don't you feel sorry for Baskara? Can't you see her struggle to make you happy?"
"I wish there was a best way out, sir. Which does not hurt Mas Bas, but also does not hurt me. If it's like this, I'm afraid for a long time our relationship is not healthy. Let Mas Bas decide for himself. If he still wants to keep me, it means he should be able to be firm with his mother and sister. If he prefers to hear his mother and sister, it means he must be willing to let go of me" Nilam said.
"Why did you give him such a hard choice? Don't separate him from his family, son! That can't be!"
"I'm not separating, sir. I just want him to be firm. And this mumpung hasn't started yet, I want everything to be clear first. What I can and cannot violate, what my family can and cannot violate, all must be clear."
"Lam, marriage is not a business project. Marriage is the union of two human children involving the family. Loving each other, respecting each other, both willing to give up and lower the ego. The play is the feeling, not the logic."
"That's exactly why I don't want to, sir. Because what I'm dealing with is people who don't have that awareness. I can't use my race on people who don't have feelings."
In his heart he apologized to his father, because for the first time he debated the man he respected so much. But this is all he has to do, because it concerns his future. He wanted to get married once in a lifetime, and there were no regrets later on.
"As far as you are, I. I just hope you guys finish well. Remember, Son. Finding the perfect husband is a hundred percent impossible, because you are not a perfect man either. For you, Baskara is the right man, who you believe can take care of you. As for his family, no one can choose where to be born. Who his mother is, who his father is, who his family is, it's not all his choice. Do not cover all her kindness, do not erase all her values, just because she is in what kind of family. That's not fair to Baskara, son."
