The Marriage Order

The Marriage Order
Doubt

I set foot in the dining room. Seeing Aunt Meri, Om Anton, and Mr. Reynand who had sat there first. The two parents of Kak Baruna turned their eyes to look at me who was just standing still looking at them. Mr. Reynand lowered his head while enjoying his meal leisurely.

"Sheryl, why are you standing there? Sit here, son," call Aunt Meri as usual with her signature smile. But my heart is still not able to be in the midst of the warmth of this family. They were grieving but trying to keep smiling in front of me, plus right now Kak Baruna was still angry with me.

"I'll go home, Auntie, Om," I said.

"Why?" ask Anton for a surprise.

"I'm so tired. Want to rest at home."

"Geez Sheryl, where do you think this is? You can rest first. Stay tonight," woo Aunt Meri.

"No-no need for aunt. I'll trouble you guys. I'll work tomorrow anyway."

"No really. Later Auntie asked Bi Rindang to clean up the room for you. Auntie will also contact your mother. Job problems will also ask permission for you," Pinta Aunt Meri insisted.

I remained unmoved for a moment and then nodded in force. Legs up and down sitting joined at the dining table.

"Where's Baruna, son?" ask Mr. Anton.

"In his room."

"Ish .. the boy. Why don't you come here?"

"Leave it, my. Maybe he was devastated by his grandfather's departure. They're very close," Defa Aunt Meri then turned her eyes toward Mr. Reynand while saying, "Rey, you're staying here too, yes. Auntie is very happy that this house is crowded. What else Grandpa just left us all."

Mr. Reynand raised his head silent for a moment. He had not answered anything when suddenly Kak Baruna came to us all and sat his body in the chair beside me.

"Reynand better get home, Bun. Her mother must have missed her because she had not come home since a few days ago" Kak Baruna responded.

"Where do you know, son?" ask Aunt Meri confused.

"Daniel told me. Mother can ask him that," said Kak Baruna staring cynically at his brother.

"Is that true, Rey?" tanya Aunt Meri stared concernedly.

"True," said Mr. Reynand casually.

"You shouldn't be acting like that to your mother. He is old and needs someone close to him."

"I'm glad Auntie's paying attention to me. But I'd better not interfere with my family's problems."

"Is that so? Forgive Aunt if Aunt's words are wrong."

"Rey, don't be like that to Aunt Meri!" tegur Om Anton's.

"Sorry Dad, but I'm old enough to make up my mind."

Anton then went silent not to answer. He did not want the dinner to be chaotic. Aunt Meri who heard the debate between father and son immediately mediated.

"Mas be it, let it be with its own idealism. Seeing her attitude now is so similar to your attitude back then. He's really your son." Aunt Meri laughed followed by a slight smile at her husband's misdeeds.

Baruna and I did not respond to what happened to them. Our eyes and hands were busy with the food in front of us. He didn't greet me at all. Looks still upset carried away the atmosphere of our quarrel earlier.

"I'm going to stay here" said Mr. Reynand suddenly startled us all and turned his gaze toward him.

"Thank God. Tomorrow morning Auntie will make a special meal for the breakfast of you all," said Aunt Meri excited.

Why is he staying overnight?

Baruna turned her head towards me, kissing my left cheek as she glanced sharply at Mr. Reynand. I gasped for his sudden action. My eyes glanced at Mr. Reynand who turned his face pretending not to see.

"Your engagement is right next to you. Why are your eyes looking at him?" whisper in my ear.

"I was honest with you this afternoon, wasn't I? You yourself want to help me discuss this matter with him? Did you forget?" I found him with a lot of questions.

"I just wanted to make sure it was in front of my eyes. You turned to her when I kissed you earlier, both in the room and the one I just did."

"So what do you want? I'm tired of being accused of being like this. Our marriage is soon and you are still thinking unimportant things" I whispered.

Baruna's sister shook her head and did not respond to my words. Only a smile was shown to me. I got up from my seat. Tiredness makes me lazy to argue at length. He was burning jealous.

"Where are you going?" tanyakanya.

"I'm tired of going to the room" I replied and then set my eyes on Aunt Meri. "Tante, where's my room?"

Aunt Meri stepped out of her seat and led me into the room on the second floor. He opened the door of the room. It looks a room nuanced purple with various gold ornaments and king-size beds. There is a door connecting the balcony that juts out. It was almost the same size as my room.

"You can rest here, son. Auntie will bring you a change of clothes."

"Yes Aunt, thank you very much" I smiled.

"Are you having trouble with Baruna?" ask Aunt Meri suddenly.

"Little."

"Try telling me." Aunt Meri asked me to sit down on the edge of the bed. He looked gently at me.

"I'm confused where I should tell you."

"It seems there is a competition between Baruna and Reynand to fight over you," said Aunt Meri suddenly.

I'm nodding. My face was trying hard, but my tears suddenly flowed. Aunt Meri saw me confused.

"Sorry it makes you sad. But Auntie is sure everything will go according to plan. Those kids, they actually love each other. How about yourself? What are you feeling?"

"I told everything to Baruna, Auntie. Even about Mr. Reynand approaching me. How can this heart not be shaken just because of the attitude of Mr. Reynand who is too ambitious, even though I and Kak Baruna will soon get married?"

Aunt Meri was silent. He did not answer my heart. It seems that he also has no solution to our problem. Not long after, he took a deep breath.

"You should always be sure of Baruna, son. Aunt's best son. You've been betrothed a long time, '" he replied.

I nodded looking at Aunt Meri's face. Then he moved from his seat.

"Rest. Cleanse body. Auntie's gonna bring you some clothes soon." Aunt Meri immediately turned towards the exit of the room.

I'm breaking my body. My eyes closed for a moment, then folded my arms until they covered them.

I can't falter!

Long I closed my eyes until almost dissolved into the dream with tears still flowing slowly.

Wh-tok-tok!

I immediately got up from my position. Step open the room door. Brother Baruna stood firmly in front of the door. Without warning, he hugged me, whispering, "I'm sorry for my actions. I'm so sorry about it. I love you, baby." Brother Baruna pulled my body, grabbed it into his chest that field.

That warm embrace made my body feel like it was melting. He made me realize that he was the only man I loved right now. We need to understand each other.

"I love you too, baby."
