The Marriage Order

The Marriage Order
It's a Long Night

I took a deep breath seeing the red sedan parked in my yard. I could not hide the look on my face that showed anxiety. Reza looked at me in wonder. For him this is a very rare thing, considering that I am known as a person who is always cheerful.

"You why Dek? His face is stressed."

"Look, it's Fandy's car."

"Oh .... Yes, Brother first. Please finish it well." Brother Reza passed away leaving me.

I bit my lips, hoping my anxiety would disappear. What else does he really want? Didn't he accept the decision that our relationship was over?

I walked slowly and went inside the house. Fandy was sitting quietly in the living room while playing his smartphone. Then he looked towards me.

"What's wrong? Have you been waiting a long time?" tanyaku.

"Lumayan! Why did you come home once a night?"

"Due to have a report that the boss is waiting for." I lie.

"Oh yeah?" Fandy looks in disbelief.

"Yes .... What do you want to say about important things?" tanyaku.

"You can start lying, can you? I was gonna pick you up, but I met Irene. He said you went home in a hurry. Where are you really?" Fandy started interrogating.

"Should I answer what is none of your business anymore?"

"Sheryl, I'm really sorry. Our relationship shouldn't end like this. Are there not a few of our sweet memories so far?"

"Rice!" sahutku.

Fandy grabbed my hand and grabbed him, "We're talking outside. It'll bother your brother and your parents."

"I can walk on my own. Release my hand!"

Fandy doesn't care about my orders. He kept pulling my hand up to the front porch of the house. I had to walk after him too.

"Since when have you been an abusive person?"

"Since you drove me crazy with your decision. It really doesn't make me think straight." Fandy rubbed his face in anxiety.

"Just go home if you still can't think clearly. I will not care about our relationship anymore. It's all over for me" I said.

Fandy held his forehead. He blinked his eyes for a moment. His face looked so anxious that he looked back at me.

"Can't we talk all right?" the answer is calm.

"What do you want?"

"I love you but I still want to achieve my goals. I still hesitate to propose to you. Can I have your time?"

What should I answer to this question this time? He was the man who accompanied me all this time. The man I love. Doesn't he have a chance, too.

"What are your plans for Japan?"

"There's still two months left. There's still time for us to think where this relationship is going."

I paused and said, "Well, I'll give each of us a month to think and plan for our future."

Fandy fell silent, then said, "If your answer is like that, for a while I can calm down. I will make the most of this time. I'll go home first. You go straight to sleep. You're so ugly. Look at your puffy, black eye bags. I love you," Fandy hugged me tightly and kissed me on my forehead.

I didn't return his embrace. I realized that within me there was a great debate between heart and mind. I was also doubtful about the decision I made.

One month is a short time. Could it be that our thoughts will change and meet at one point? Plus my wedding plans and Baruna's sister are in sight.

Fandy then passed. Get in his car and leave my house. I also went into the house. Brother Reza who was waiting for me in the living room smiled grinning.

"You sure? Did you forget that one month along with your engagement and Baruna?"

Yes, I know I have little time to remember the agreement between my family and his family. I have to get engaged on my twenty-fifth birthday next month. He married Baruna one month later.

"Sister, I told you I haven't agreed to the match!" I reply to Brother Reza's words tightly.

"We'll see lil' sist. What will you do to break out that plan," Kak Reza patted my shoulder with the look of her sharp eyes.

What the hell is it? Why is my future so difficult because of things I don't understand. The business of the company should be a corporate problem. Personal life should be a personal matter. Why should I mix things up so I get exposed to the sap**?

My head got dizzy thinking about what was and will happen. I stepped straight into the room and indulged myself in a bathtub bath. Tonight has really been a long night for me.

Four years ago.

"How's Bar? You agreed? I know you've been harboring your feelings for Sheryl for a long time. Moreover, Sheryl's sister Reza and the three of you have been friends since childhood. I agree to it." Anton started the conversation.

Brother Baruna just nodded shyly as he said, "Yes Dad."

"It's good that this is our plan everything can be smooth, huh Gung?" Anton turned to Papa.

"Yes dong. If you unite later our business and company will be bigger," added Papa chuckled.

"Yes right. I wouldn't go wrong choosing a mate for my own granddaughter" Grandpa Awan added. He was Grandpa Kak Baruna who came to my residence at that time.

Baruna doesn't talk much. He just smiled in response to the words of his parents and grandfather. I could also see her face that was met with a shameful red. It actually adds charm to his good looks many times over. I then turned my face away. I won't be tempted by his handsome face.

Cih .... Why is he so handsome at a time like this? See, I'll marry by my own choice. Not with Baruna but with my boyfriend.

"Sheryl, is there anything you want to say?" ask Papa suddenly.

I turned to Papa, spontaneously exclaiming, "Why should my life be you guys busy organizing it? My life is my life and I will decide it. It's enough Papa's set all my life choices. I refused it at any time."

The old men who were in the dining room looked at each other with confused faces but soon returned as usual and just smiled.

I glanced towards Kak Baruna and muttered in my heart.

What man has no principles at all in his life? Everything is arranged by parents.

"The wedding is not now a day, but later when you are twenty-five years old." My mother responded and calmed me down.

I just looked down and bent my face.

"Oh yes the engagement is on Sheryl's birthday, Gung, November. Then the wedding was in December. Your new year has officially become a couple," said Om Anton give input.

"Could only. What about the Cloud?" ask Papa.

"When I agree. The sooner the better," replied Grandpa Awan.

I who heard their talk became even more upset and shouted, "You guys don't understand how I feel!"

I got up and lifted my feet from the banquet at that time. I don't care what they talk about anymore. I'll be out of this house soon. That's all that pops into my mind.

"Sheryls! Back back! How dare you argue with your father, huh?! Whatever happens you have to marry Baruna" Papah shouted.

Why are they so insistent? Even the mother who used to defend me back then was silent. Papa's college choices have made me dizzy and half dead. Now he's planning my wedding to Baruna's sister whom I consider to be my own.

I ignored Papa's words and entered my room. Putting my clothes and other important things together, put them in a big suitcase. I just want to get away from the life of this rich man who rules so much.

I walked out of the room, hoping that no one would notice my plan. I went through the kitchen and planned to go out the back door. My mother suddenly stopped me and stopped my plans at that time. He just kept quiet and hugged me. Tears rose in her eyes ready to fall.

"I'm sorry Mom and Dad. We want the best for you and your family. Later when you are more mature you will understand why your father is so adamant," he explained.

Seeing Mama who was crying at that time made my heart melt as well. I was crying too. That memory is so strong to this day. But I really don't know what Mama's words mean.

Present-day

I woke up from my daydream when my phone rang. Kak Baruna's name appeared on the screen. I also answered his phone call.

"Hello Brother, how's Om doing?" my many.

"Yes Sher, my father finally entered the treatment room. It's in the room."

"Is anyone there?"

"There's my mother and Grandpa."

"What are you doing now? Why does your voice sound like it's echoing?"

"There is! Already, brother, I want to clean first." I hung up the phone not caring for Brother Baruna who still wanted to talk to me again.

Not long after a message came in from Kak Baruna.

"Brake it not for long. The bath is clean and fragrant. So that the fragrance can get here. Hehe."

"For a long time he was like a shaman," I muttered with a smile.
