I turned to the door when I heard the sound of someone opening the door that disturbed me. Mamma. He put on his smile, walked towards me.

"Mama's glad you want to stay the night today" he said.

I got up and replied to the brief smile of Mama that I rarely see lately because of our endless debate. Who else makes it so other than a Sheryl who has taken my heart?

"Isn't this house also my home?" I raised my eyebrows, then headed towards the sofa.

My mother followed me and sat in front of me. "Yes, but because you're so rarely staying over, Mama thinks this house is no longer your main house."

"Since I decided to live alone, the apartment is the most comfortable place for me, Ma." I poured water into two empty glasses that I accidentally placed in the middle of the table.

Mom drinks her drink. "Because you feel free?"

"Who doesn't love freedom? Everyone craves it."

Mama put the glass that was almost half finished back on the table. He drew half his cold smile for me. "You're Mama's only son. Mama doesn't want no mistake in raising you."

"Home is just a place. Wherever I am, I am sure I can endure," I replied and let out a slow breath, "Great Om has given our blessing for our relationship."

Mama grunts. "You must feel more confident and free when you're with him."

"Undeniably, that's how I feel. With Sheryl, make my life more colorful and happy." I pulled a line of smiles.

"Why are you so sure he can make your life happy, while his life used to be so smooth? He failed once, Rey. He's hurt you too." My mom reminded me.

"I never forgot it, Ma. It's all very well recorded in my head."

"Then are you sure you can be happy with him?"

"Mom should remember one thing. I'm not a really good person either. I think everyone is in process. They want to be better human beings than ever before" I looked deeply at Mama. My position will never change.

"While you've got your blessing, Mama still can't approve of your relationship. I don't think you've been able to accept your choice, Rey. Mama doesn't want any regrets in the future because you've chosen the wrong companion."

I grinned obliquely. This time grab my glass and drink it to the toilet. "Mama remember? Mama once said that Sheryl's life journey is similar to Mama's. So, what's wrong if I want to stay with him and protect him?"

Mama didn't say. I kept quiet waiting for his answer. I know how much he worries about everything. My mom is the kind of person who thinks about everything. He was so careful that he did not want to feel the failure that had happened before when he married Dad.

Mom looked down as if she couldn't look back at me with a cold look.

I added, "I won't change my mind at all. Is it by acting like this that you can resolve the debate between us?"

Mama raised her face. "If Mama and Sheryl were caught in a fire disaster, who would you help first, Rey?"

My mother's question made me feel sad. I glanced at the anxious and serious look that was churning within him.

Why did Mom suddenly ask like this?

"Do I have to answer?" I asked back

"certain. I want to hear your answer."

"I won't choose any of you. I'll let Mama and Sheryl be there."

Mama's eyeballs instantly rounded full. He seemed dissatisfied with my answer. "Why? You have to choose, Rey."

"Can't, Ma. You are just as valuable to me. If I choose one of you, my life will not be perfect. Anyway, I know how much your love is. So, don't force me to choose who I'll save first."

"All right, then." Mama just nodded without saying anything more. But his ambiguous response I can't guess what it means.

"I've never been this serious in life. But if Mama still continues to object to our relationship, I make it clear that we will never part," I added, but Mama just stared without an answer.

The next day ....

It was still early morning when Reynand parked his car right in front of a chicken porridge restaurant located very close to Pradipta's office. Without wasting any time, the man instantly turned off the vehicle's engine.

"We have arrived" Reynand said with a smile on his face.

I flinch without saying, staring at the favorite chicken porridge restaurant of Pradipta employees who currently look quite crowded even though the day is still very early. Most of the employees from Pradipta's office enjoyed their breakfast at the venue.

Why did Rey stop in front of this restaurant? Did he intentionally want to show how our relationship was in front of people?

"Rey, can't we just find a quiet place away from the office?" I said to look at him immediately.

"Why? I've been wanting to take you out there for a long time. In the past, you never hesitated to enjoy your breakfast with Irene there, did you?"

"Yes-yes .. but this is too sudden. I wasn't ready. You're gonna show us our relationship in front of a lot of people." I answered doubtfully. It was hard to hide our relationship, but Reynand openly wanted to publish it.

"I have no reason to hide our relationship anymore. I'm too happy to have your father's blessing. Soon, you'll be my wife. So, they should know our relationship" he said, which suddenly made me open my eyes.

"You forgot about your mom, huh?! We haven't been fully blessed yet, Rey. Especially near the office. If they knew and talked about us, your mother would have rebuked us."

"I don't care anymore. Your mind keeps worrying about it. Let's go out and eat. I purposely missed my breakfast at home for breakfast with you." Reynand smiled broadly. He seemed relaxed and did not care about what would happen later.

I took a heavy breath. Although it feels like this leg doesn't want to step, I don't have a choice. Reynand came out first, opened the door for me.

To be honest, my fear of Aunt Aina's reprimand was at number two. The fear at the very top level is the anxiety that becomes due to the thought of those people when they see their boss dating a widow of his sister. Yep! The widow! You didn't read wrong.

I put my foot down, got out of the car. Reynand grabbed my hand quickly. I tried to untangle him, but his grasp was so tight.

"Oh, come on. You look funny in shame."

"You're taunting me?!"

That guy doesn't care. He immediately laughed. My mouth was angry. Deliberately turning his face away from her and the people. I wish no one would notice when we walked in. But it turned out wrong. Wrong big!

"Sheril!" Someone called.
