Sheryl POV
This is the second time I've been to the hospital. Not with my driver, but with Baruna, Anton's father, and Mommy Meri. We came to see Reynand at the hospital.
It just so happens that today is a holiday. The hospital looks more quiet than usual. Maybe because it was morning. We started to enter the treatment hall, heading for Reynand's room.
Ever since getting out of the car, Baruna held me so tightly without even letting go. As time went on, I kept my head up and gave him a faint smile.
"What's wrong? Why have you been watching me and smiling?" His face looks confused.
"It's okay" I replied, shaking my head.
"I know I'm handsome, but this isn't home. Be patient to be able to make out," Baruna said smiling back.
Baruna's reply made my forehead flinch and then pinched her cheek gently. He made my brain spin to digest the no-no.
"Stop your perverted brain, honey," I whispered in his ear.
"Oh," cried Baruna, but I did not pinch her hard.
Right in front of Reynand's bedroom door, the Mother walking in front of us stopped her steps. Anton's father, who saw his wife, stopped his steps. The two of them suddenly looked back and smiled.
I immediately pulled my hand and cheek of his beloved son. Afraid if they think I'm being violent with Baruna. And now the awkwardness between us is beginning to show again. What I was afraid of, however, did not happen. Aunt Meri even commented on her graceful smile.
"Why do you two look so cute?" Aunty Meri made me feel more in front of her.
"Haish! Why did you two stop and even pay attention to us?" sahut Baruna who suddenly harrumphed in shame.
"Look, Dad! Baruna looked very embarrassed, "Mommy even pointed at her son while chuckling.
"Don't tease them, Mer" said Anton's father, shaking his head and opening Reynand's ward.
Chequek!
The four of us entered the room. I looked towards Reynand's bed. There was only Reynand and Aunt Aina waiting for him there. Our steps came to a halt when we saw the woman feeding her son.
"Okay, Ma! The porridge is hot" Reynand protested to Aunt Aina.
"Times, anyway?" The mother tried to taste it too. "No, kok!" said again.
"It has. I can do it myself." Reynand snatched her bowl from Aina's hand.
Maybe about half a minute we were standing by the door. Aunt Aina and Reynand were not aware of our presence, until she turned her head and looked shocked.
"Good morning!" Finally Anton's father greeted the inmates of the nursery.
"Morning! Geez! Why are you just standing there?" Aina Aina came up.
Reynand who had not had time to enjoy the food also took a surprised look at us, then showed a line of smiles.
It didn't take long for the welcome, we stood around the sick man's bed.
"How are you doing, Rey?" ask Dad.
"It's better, Dad," he said.
"Actually last night I came to the hospital to pick up Sheryl, but did not turn my nose for fear of interrupting your rest, Rey," added Baruna.
"It's okay, Bar." Reynand shook her head slowly.
"Is it not crowded?" ask Mother Meri.
"It's still a little uncomfortable, but it's better" he replied.
"Yes, Mer. Good thing your son-in-law came to Rey's apartment. If not, I can't imagine what happened. My little one may already be unaccompanied by his side," said Aunt Aina grievingly, but her eyes glanced wryly at the son.
Aunt Aina, Father Anton, and Mother Meri also chuckled. Maybe Aunt Aina just wanted to liven up the atmosphere in the room, but Me and Baruna weren't hooked. We could only look at each other because suddenly they were talking about Reynand's soul mate.
"Yes, Rey. You'd better stay with your mother if you're not married. If something like this happens again, how about it?" tymbal Anton's father warns his son.
Reynand glanced at Anton's father. "Dad, don't follow Mama, yeah. If it's time, I'll get married."
"With Nay's doctor, then. Aunt heard from Sheryl she also helped save your life." Mother commented.
"Good idea, Mer. It fits! I'm happy that someone can take care of and control my son's health while accompanying him later in life" said Aunt Aina.
Aunt Aina who was getting excited then invited my two in-laws to sit on the sofa, continuing the conversation about Reynand's endless soul mate. Baruna and I were still standing by Reynand's bed for not wanting to go into the conversation on that sensitive topic.
I can't stop thinking, Aunt Aina didn't give up on matching her son to another woman. He is more excited because now has supporters like Father and Mother. The conversation sounded really exciting talking about Reynand with some maiden names that might be suitable if you could be with a single man in front of me. While Reynand just stared resignedly talked about like that.
"I'm sorry, Mom and Dad, yeah." Baruna took it seriously. It seemed very if he felt bad about the chatter that sounded cornered Reynand.
"It's okay. It's mundane. Whatever it is," Reynand chuckled.
"At least you should focus on your health first," I said looking incensed at him.
"Yes. Thank you, Sher."
I just nodded. A second later, a silent atmosphere was created just like that between the three of us. No talk at all.
Baruna suddenly turned to look at her parents and then at me. "It seems their conversation about Reynand's soul mate is still long. Honey, you'll be with Rey for a minute. I'm going downstairs to buy drinks and snacks for all of us."
"I'm the one who bought it" I said.
"No need. I'm not long," Baruna refused to shake her head.
"Yes," I said.
"What do you want, Rey?"
"No, Bar" replied Reynand.
Baruna sat down to join him for a while on the sofa before he went out to buy drinks and food. I was left sitting next to Reynand's bed because I didn't want to join the parents' conversation.
I don't know what's going on. Baruna went out a long time ago and didn't come back. I called him, but my call was not answered.
Meanwhile, the friendship that I had declared for him last night still felt very strange because we did not also start any conversation even though sitting opposite each other. Our relationship with our status as friends has not changed. Reynand was very stiff and could not speak casually just like that.
"Baruna is a long time ago" he said suddenly.
"Yes, it's been a while. The phone didn't pick up either," I said with a long sigh.
"You know, hearing their chatter, makes me so nauseous." Reynand stared straight ahead, at the parents who were still discussing one by one the criteria of the girl who might be suitable for Reynand.
"You want to take a walk outside?" my many. I don't know what got into my brain when I asked a question like that. Reynand looked surprised.
"You want to accompany me?"
"Just a second. Around the hospital is a large park that might help relieve your nausea from listening to their chatter about the girls."
Hiya! Hiya!
