The Marriage Order

The Marriage Order
I'm sorry Papa

The time had already shown at half-eight by the time we arrived home. Last time Baruna and I stopped by a restaurant for dinner together which caused us to go home a little late.

We walked into the house. Brother Reza has welcomed us into the living room. His facial water was not as usual, just flat no expression.

"Bar, bokap would like to talk. Lo awaited in the family room," said Kak Reza suddenly.

"Oh .. Yeah I've been there."

"I'm coming," I said.

We walked into the family room. Papa and Mama were waiting on the sofa. The face of my family's third this afternoon was so flat it was unpredictable.

"What's this about? Why is the atmosphere so serious like this?"

We then took a seat opposite my parents. Reza's sister sits next to Papa.

"Baruna, what really goes through your mind when you hit that guy?" asked Papa unceremoniously looking at Kak Baruna's face.

"He wanted to humiliate Sheryl Om. I can't let that happen. Should Om also be careful, the man from Mahardika Corp seems to have gone crazy. He even invited Sheryl to sleep with him."

"Why is it like that? Sheryl, try to explain it to Papa." Papa looked at me sharply, his facial water turned ghastly.

"Papa, I'm sorry. I don't know why he's that close. He's vengeful for me Pa. I've been doing verbal and physical abuse since we went to school." My eyes expanded, tears began to fall. A useless regret.

Mom and Dad both gasped at my explanation. The tears changed again, their eyes widened in shock with their mouths agape completely shocked and disappointed. Reza just quietly listened because he already knew the story before.

"Sheryl, we never teach you to take negative actions. All this time we've been educating you according to our expectations. From childhood to adulthood we have decided what is best for you. Even look, now a man like Baruna is beside you. If it's like this it's the same as you dirty our heads with your behavior at school first. You know now, the company's condition is starting to falter. It's all because of you!" he shouted with a face that showed anger.

I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, rising from the sofa kneeling before my parents. Tears that I had guessed and desperately I held back finally broke down as well as its defense. I cried sobbing.

"Pa-Papa, Ma-Mama, I-I mi-asked for my apologies." I cried sobbing.

Those are the only words I can get out. My chest is too tight, my throat is blocked, my tongue is too weak. Brother Baruna who saw me could not bear to kneel beside me.

"Om, I know this situation is very difficult for your family. I'm sorry Sheryl, Om. He also regretted his actions. I know Om's a strict guy, but it's too late. I'll help as I can."

Papa heard Kak Baruna's words but he turned his face away from us, not wanting to see our eyes begging for pity. Mama looked at us with her eyes that also felt pity. She got up from the sofa hugging me tightly, stroking my gently unraveling hair, calming me down.

"Good, Sheryl's our son. We don't have to be too hard on him. You have always educated children according to your will, even though I don't want to. Until you risk his future by matching your son with your friend's son. Good thing Baruna wasn't a bad person."

"Hey we've agreed not to bring up Rin's issue. I do everything for the welfare of our family. You agreed to that plan."

"Whatever! I'm tired of following your directions. A mother will always defend her child if she cries. Regardless of his mistake or not."

"Let's stand dear" said Mama.

"Rini! I'm not done talking. Where are you going?!" call Papa in a furious tone.

"I'm done. I want to take my son to his room."

Brother Reza shook his head confused as to who should defend between his parents. He was silent but left his father who was still sitting quietly on the sofa of his family room.

I sat on the edge of my bedroom bed. My mother sat beside me. Rubbing my back gently. He looked at me pityingly while tidying up the messy hairs on my face. Baruna and Reza were sitting on a sofa in the corner.

"Darling, whatever your father says, don't ever put it in your heart. He is still a father you should respect. Mama really did not mean to say that but sometimes your father needs to be reminded. You're still her sweet little girl" Mama advised.

I just nodded then grabbed the tissue on my dresser. Wiping away tears that don't stop flowing. Reza poured drinking water in a glass not far from him.

"drink. Forgive Brother who sometimes makes you uncomfortable with your attitude," said Kak Reza while thrusting a glass of water at me.

I sipped the water slowly and felt relieved for a moment. The throat that was blocked began to open wide flowed by water that entered the body.

"Mama and Brother Reza can you leave me alone with Brother Baruna? I want to talk to him for a moment" I asked a little forcefully.

Mama looked at me, a small smile on her lips. He just nodded then got up to his feet leaving me followed by Kak Reza who also came out of the room.

"Darling," call me soft.

Baruna turned her head towards me and sat down on the edge of the bed. I looked at my face with my eyes filled with unstoppable tears.

"What's up?"

"What do you know about this match? Am I being used by my own family?"

"Why ask about it? Of course this matchmaking went like their original plan set us up to enlarge their business empire."

"To ask you is as blind as I am. I feel like something's wrong. Papa says everything he does is for the welfare of his family."

"Is that importantthat's the reason for you? Don't think negatively."

"So now I feel like I'm a chess pawn for my family."

"Don't be so bad to have your own family baby, everyone loves you."

I just nodded trying to record Kak Baruna's words just now. Somehow I will survive the trials of my life now. The more I think the more pain I feel. I want to get married and leave this family.

"Please promise me we'll always be with you, baby. I don't know how to get through it all without you" I said.

"Yes dear. Rest." Brother Baruna ruffled my hair and then stepped out of my room leaving me alone.
