The Marriage Order

The Marriage Order
The Fucked Mediation

At exactly twelve o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday in my living room, sat some guests who had been waiting since yesterday night to come. They are Satya's family. Papa invited them to lunch with the intention of mediating between me and him.

The moment I saw Satya, there was still a bit of bruise on her face. The man was dressed neatly in a black collared T-shirt and brown material chinos. He realized that I was watching him and then smiled. I turned my eyes away from her eyes.

Only the Satya nuclear family came to my house, including my cousin Nesya. She came with her husband who was none other than Satya's older brother.

Papa, Mama, and Kak Reza welcomed Satya's family with a friendly like a typical guest while I continued to put a sour face in front of them. I don't care what they think of me.

*What do you expect by inviting them to? This meeting will only be in vain**.

"Good afternoon Mr. Arya and family. Thank you for coming to our humble hut." Papa smiles welcoming Satya's father.

"Good day, too, Mr. Grandpa and family. No need to go low. This beautiful house is not a shack for us. Thank you for inviting us to the family" replied Mr. Arya.

"Sir Arya was too complimentary. Do not hesitate to visit this house. Please come in, let's just go straight to the dining room," Papa asked.

We all walked to the dining room. Our families sat facing each other. I sat next to Kak Reza who was facing right with Satya. Satya kept looking at me making me feel even more uncomfortable being among them. The tightness felt in my chest guessed his current thinking. He must have planned something I never thought of.

"Lo doesn't have to be tense like that, Sher. I do not eat lo kok, unless forced," he said calmly while smiling cunningly.

I silently held my tongue which might have messed up this event. Reza's sister, who heard him say it changed her face, looked at Satya with an annoyed look.

"Don't fuck with Sheryl, Sat. Don't you think I don't know what you did to Sheryl at your sister's wedding reception." Brother Reza defended me.

The bespectacled man shook his head while chuckling lightly not replying to Kak Reza's words.

Some waiters in my house opened food trolleys starting from the appetizer menu, main course, and dessert which was immediately served in front of us. The dishes served are very delicious. Papa specifically brought in one chef from his hotel business. Not long after that, we started enjoying the dish until it was finished.

After the lunch ended, Papa invited Satya's family to have a casual conversation with Satya's family starting in the living room.

"My point of inviting Satya and the family is to solve the problems that occur between Sheryl and Satya so as not to drag on in the future."

"Yes I've heard a little bit of stories about their problems. It's normal for young people to fight because they're jealous."

Me and Reza turned to Om Arya. He said things I don't understand.

"What does Om Arya mean to say that?"

"Jealous?" ask Papa.

"Iya Sheryl and Satya are dating, the man who hit Satya in the video is jealous to see their relationship. He envied seeing Sheryl close to Satya, then beat our son to a pulp."

"Well, we mean to come here and also want to have a family meeting. Hopefully next their relationship succeeds to the level of marriage," added Aunt Miska, Satya's mother added.

Nesya who heard his words in-laws immediately glanced sharply at me raising her eyebrows, rounding her eyes in surprise, whispering beside me, "Is that really Sher?"

I immediately shook my head strongly.

What else is this madman planning? Is there not enough news in the media that Kak Baruna is my future husband?

Papa looked at me, his face water turned upset, "Sheryl, Papa asked for your explanation on this matter."

"I ...." I haven't been able to answer yet, Brother Reza has answered my legacy. I turned towards Satya who raised her head in an arrogant manner.

"Om Arya, you seem to have misunderstood. Sheryl and Satya have never been in a relationship. My sister already has a husband. The man who hit Satya was her future husband, her name was Baruna. The sole heir of the company Asyraf Corp. The real Satya was envious and wanted to humiliate my sister. Looks like you've been played by your own son" Sela Kak Reza defended me again.

Satya raised both corners of her lips smiling, she then said, "Dad, Mom, just so you know, Sheryl this is the woman I love and hate. He's the one who's been bullying me since school. Do you know how I used to be? How hard it is to rise from my trauma."

Arya turned to look at me. His sharp glances seemed to want to kill me, "How's Son Sheryl?"

No, this time I have to be brave against him.

"Sorry Om Arya and Aunt Miska because I was presumptuous to have treated Satya badly in the past. I am so very sorry I did it. I apologized to Satya, too" I explained.

Satya clapped her hands to hear me say, "I think you'll be sorry you're as easy as talking with your mouth! You must be mine, Sheryl dear."

"Satya!" Shouted Om Arya. "You are so insolent! You have humiliated us. You make up stories like that. We thought we were coming to see Sheryl's family asking her to be your life partner. I never taught you to hold a grudge for so long!"

Plaque!

I closed my eyes as Aditya suddenly moved from his seat and slapped his sister's cheek very hard. Satya held her hot cheeks looking at her brother's face.

"Kakak ..." he said lirih.

"Bastard sister!" Aditya's eyes bulged as if he was about to eat his prey.

Papa, Mama, and Kak Reza round their eyes gasping at the family drama. They speak a thousand languages. Satya actually managed to put her family to shame. Satya then got up and left us.

"My great-grandfather is truly sorry for my son's behavior. He's hard to guess. My family is so ashamed to face you, sir."

"No, I should have listened to my son's words. I am also ashamed to have made this mediation event chaotic. But I'm so glad you guys took the time to come."

"Om, Auntie, I'm sorry Nesya doesn't believe Sheryl's story" Nesya said suddenly.

"There is nothing to forgive Nesya. The real us should understand our son's position" said Mama.

"Sher, I'm sorry and my family are." Nesya looked at me and hugged me.

"No Nes, I did the wrong thing to Satya so it was hard to forgive until now. But I don't care about it now." I returned his embrace.

Nesya nodded in agreement then turned towards Kak Reza with a regretful face.

"Sir Reza, sorry Nesya's sister-in-law yes. Shame on me."

"Yes Nesya. It's not your fault why you're ashamed."

"Stay still Brother. We are one family" Nesya said.

Reza nodded his head. Aditya said the same thing to us. He really did not expect his sister's behavior to be like that. The younger brother who secretly washed away, humiliated his own family.

Shortly after, Nesya and her family returned home. My family and I drove them to the yard.
