The Marriage Order
S3 Your sorrow

Reynand Pov's

Eight o'clock in the morning and I have arrived at the hospital. While carrying a bag of fruits, my steps suddenly stopped. Though, Sheryl's nursery is right in front of you right now. I was silent for a moment there. I hesitated a little to go inside. How not? Baruna must be there. Sheryl can't be alone, can she?

Remembering Nayara who told Sheryl that she was undergoing treatment, I decided to call Nayara. "Nay, I'm in front of Sheryl's room" I said after the woman answered her phone.

"Wait a minute!" Nayara suddenly disconnected her phone.

"Ck! What the hell, him?" I muttered because Farhan's sister sounded disrespectful. I called, but he just cut it off.

Chequek!

The door of the ward in front of me opened. Nayara slid from behind it. The female doctor suddenly pushed my body away. His stomping steps prevented me from getting inside. He was pointing in the opposite direction.

"Hey! Nay! What the fuck, anyway?!" I protested, but the woman did not answer and instead forced me into an empty treatment room.

Nayara lowered both her hands from my chest. He seemed to be breathing out a long breath. His eyes then sharpened. Suddenly pointed at me with her slender index finger.

"Tell me! What did you do to him?!" tanyakanya.

"Do what, huh?" my reply frowned confused.

"Don't pretend! You're the only person who has the potential to stress her out!" he was so fiercely accusing me. Instantly, I pulled a confused face. I don't understand his accusation at all.

Nayara then sat down on a sofa in the room and I followed her sitting in front of her, putting a bag of fresh oranges on the table. A look of worry on Nayara's face. Suddenly he folded both his hands.

"What really happened to Sheryl?" ask slowly.

"You know? She almost lost her baby" answered Nayara still looking so cynical.

Hearing that answer surprised me. Remembering how yesterday I drove him home and he looked fine.

"How come, Nay? Last time I drove him home and he's still fine!" I got up from my seat. I can't believe what Nayara said.

"I don't know either. He was silent when I asked him what had happened. Not even his family knows for sure why Sheryl is like that" Nayara said. This time his tone sounded lower by several octaves. There was sadness on his face.

Does this have anything to do with Baruna's affair?

I could only guess in my heart and couldn't possibly tell Nayara about it.

"Then how is he doing now?" I sat back down, looking at my opponent more seriously.

"So, you had nothing to do with this?" Suddenly Nayara asked back. That woman doesn't seem to trust me.

Hearing her question, I snorted in annoyance. Immediately stood up, grabbed my fruit bag back, then left the young doctor just like that.

"Hey, Rey! I'm not done!" nayara shouted with her shrill voice.

I didn't care and kept walking out of the room to Sheryl's door. Just as I was about to grab the door handle, Nayara suddenly pulled my hand.

I just nodded then ventured to open the door. The room felt very quiet. Unlike what I thought, Baruna wasn't there. Only Aunt Rini is guarding him. She sat on a brown sofa located not far from Sheryl's bed.

"Good morning, Auntie," I said.

Aunt Rini looked up for a moment, then grabbed her glasses. It seemed that he could not see clearly who was coming. I glanced at Sheryl, who was just lying on her bed. He didn't even look at me at all.

"Morning, Rey!" he said to return my greeting. The old woman smiled for a while and then looked around me, "did you meet doctor Nayara?"

"Yes. It seems that he was busy and left after we had a chat for a while," I replied. Aunt Rini just nodded slowly. I walked towards him and gave him my hand. "For Sheryl."

"Thank you, Rey." Aunt Rini immediately put the bag containing citrus fruit on the nightstand. He looked at Sheryl. "Sher, there's Reynand wanting to come see how you're doing."

My view that followed the steps of Aunt Rini suddenly ended with the woman who until now still loved it. The gloomy Sheryl looked to nod her head and made no comment.

I walked up to him, then stood beside Aunt Rini. "Hi" I said with a palm that moved.

Sheryl just pulled a line of her smile and it only lasted a few seconds. His face then returned glum.

"Please understand, Rey. Sheryl almost lost her baby. Fortunately not," Tanta Rini explained to me.

"Thank God," I said, then fell silent for a moment.

Baruna is really outrageous. He's not here, but his wife needs his presence right now. It seems that my words yesterday were not taken seriously by him.

"Baruna has not been able to go home because of her father's unstable condition. But he said he'd be home soon." Suddenly Aunt Rini explained as if reading what was on my mind.

"Oh ...." I nodded slowly.

The phone suddenly sounded. Aunt Rini grabbed her phone, then spoke to who. Not long after, he ended the call.

"Rey, can you go with Sheryl for a second? Aunt should go down. Reza came to get Sheryl's phone. But due to the rush of meetings, he couldn't wait too long downstairs."

"Let me take it, Auntie."

"No need. Just a minute, really. You wait here. Aunt please comfort Sheryl, yes!"

I nodded according to him. Aunt Rini then left us both. I took a deep breath and threw it away quickly. Both of my eyes glanced at him who was still silent without a word. Sheryl really is like a mute woman right now and I'm sure the only reason is Baruna.

"You're not tired of being so quiet? If you keep quiet, your mouth will be stiff and can't babble anymore" I chuckled, but he didn't answer and kept quiet. Not losing my mind, I tried to break the silence. Pretend to take one orange out of the bag and offer him, "want an orange, no?"

Sheryl shook her head weakly and froze back. "I feel like I'm just gonna die, Rey," Sheryl said. Although he finally spoke, but the sentence that slid from his pale lips suddenly made me gasp.

"Hey! You can't say that! In your womb there is a child who hopes to be born later." I scolded Sheryl.

Instead of answering, he blinked his eyes a few times. There were tears held in both corners of her eyes. The gloomy-looking Sheryl also sobbed.

Even though I don't know what's on his mind, my heart feels tight. This time it was completely different. He's not the Sheryl I brought home yesterday. Right now, Sheryl is in deep sorrow.
