After walking for a while, the two arrived at the private room in question. Stepping inside, the two saw Master Nacol sitting cross-legged and with his eyes closed next to the incense burner, appearing to be meditating.
Upon hearing Gerald and Jace's footsteps, Master Nacol opened his eyes before greeting, "Here we go, Mr Crawford!"
Without wasting any time, Gerald simply answered the greetings before going straight to business. Jace himself had already told Master Nacol about what Gerald was here for today. From what Master Nacol understood, Gerald intended to find out where the Ancient City was located.
Master Nacol is willing to give an audience to Gerald because not only did Gerald make a massive donation to his conference this time, but he also heard—from Jace—that Gerald had saved the lives of all those babies! With that in mind, Master Nacol honestly had the utmost respect for Gerald.
“It is true I know where the Ancient City is. In fact, I once went there with a teacher of mine who— is very unfortunate— is no longer here. Still, my experience there back then has been deeply ingrained in my mind to this day! ” said Master Nacol while sipping his tea. Her expression—as she reminisces of him—shows that memory is thrilling.
Afterwards, he then looked at Gerald with a smile before asking, "I wonder if you are interested in listening to my story, Mr Crawford?"
“With all means, please share your story, Mr Nacol!” gerald replied with a nod.
Hearing that, Master Nacol then began to tell a story that happened about forty years ago…
At that moment, Nacol was in his twenties when he followed his teacher — Mr. Barron Xilts — to the Ancient City after receiving an invitation from a mysterious family to help enlighten an old benefactor who had heavy thoughts weighing on his mind.
The Ancient City itself was a small city located within a puzzling mountain, and those who lived in it had been isolated from the world for generations so no one dared to go there to cause trouble. Having existed for thousands of years, it was a city filled with endless secrets and mysteries.
Even since ancient times, very few people knew about the city, and even fewer were able to communicate with those who lived in it. Master Master Nacol was one of the few lucky enough to know.
After all, after arriving at the foot of the mountain, the two found a young man who would kill ten young men and women!
They later learn that the ruthless man is constantly trying to force the Gunters to come out and show themselves, no matter how ruthless he has to get. In fact, at the time, he had killed several people from nearby villages because Gunter kept refusing to meet him. From that fact alone, it was clear that he was also very good at making plans.
Back to the moment they first saw him, master Nacol managed to stop him from killing them just in time. However, the ruthless man was extremely skilled, and his master fought him all day and night before finally managing to subdue the man.
The young man, however, begged master Nacol to save his life, saying that he had no choice but to do all of this because he wanted revenge.
After constantly begging, master Nacol's heart finally softened. He then promises to save the cruel man's life for a while, ordering him to follow Nacol and him to the mountain.
At that time, they thought that once they got in touch with Gunter, they would be able to get the truth behind the matter. To be honest, master Nacol would end the young man's life if he was truly evil.
After repeatedly thanking his master, the young man promised to awaken a magnificent monastery for him. Even though he seemed to be very rich, master Nacol still rejected the offer.
Traveling along the way together, the three of them finally arrived at the Ancient City.
"He couldn't possibly secretly conspire against your master just to enter the Ancient City, right...?" gerald asked somewhat curiously.
"The scheme? He's really tricking us, that's what he's doing!” master Nacol replied with a bitter smile while shaking his head.
As it turned out, the young man was extremely strong, even stronger than master Nacol! He was also, however, very good at hiding his own strength. That was the reason why master Nacol assumed that he would have no trouble conquering her again if she started acting up.
Regardless, the young man was able to tell that he and his master were heading to meet the Gunters because he realized that they had received an invitation from the family. With that thought in mind, he deliberately lost to master Nacol, just so that he could beg for mercy on his master.
He did all of this because even though he was strong, he was simply unable to get close to Gunter.
After all, it was already late at night when they entered the Ancient City. After walking for a while, the young man suddenly revealed his true nature and started slaughtering the Gunters who had received them!
Of course, the second master Nacol saw this, he immediately attempted to subdue the young man again! Unfortunately, his master was no match for him…
