"What is that ...?" chester asked somewhat curiously as he watched Gerald carefully pull out a square wooden box from his pocket.
Wagner had given the box to Gerald after an old beggar gave it to his ancestors about eight hundred years ago. From what Wagner had said to Gerald, the old beggar not only anticipated that Gerald would go to the palace of the king of the seas centuries later, but he also accurately predicted Gerald's encounter with Wagner, therefore why he told Wagner's descendants to survive the box until Gerald finally showed up!
Could it be that the old beggar had actually predicted what would happen in ten thousand years? Did the old man really manage to predict that Gerald would find the immortal coffin and transport the white-clothed woman so that she would eventually be reunited with the god?
Could it be. could it be that the old beggar from ten thousand years ago was actually the same person from eight centuries ago…?
Gerald shuddered at the thought of that and did not dare to think too much about it. Just thinking about it was enough to make him filled with fear and anxiety.
Regardless, Gerald was able to distinguish one thing from all of this. In the message the old beggar left for Gerald, he said that Gerald would get the answer he was looking for while reuniting the woman in white with his other self. Does that mean once he does that, the incident regarding the Sun League will also be revealed soon as well?
“...What else did he say? Please do your best and try to understand as much as you can, Chester!” gerald said after a brief silence of his deep thought.
“...Well, it is said here that something bad will happen to the world soon, and many will die because of that event, and the prophecy will come true one by one! It's just our destiny! Outside of that part, I.. I don't understand anything anymore.” Chester replied with a sigh.
A prophecy? And a bad incident where many will die? What events can even refer to ...?
And no matter how he looked at those words, why did he feel that the words on the stone tablets were referring to him?
With so many questions on his mind, Gerald forced himself to take down all the words on the stone tablets. After all, even though he could not read her words now, it did not mean that it would remain the same in the future.
After that, he then led Chester towards another mural.
After looking around for a bit, they discovered that the last mural seemed to state that as long as one could get the key to open the gates of life, they would be able to find a way out.
Even the 'key' was displayed on the mural. In accordance with what was in the box, the 'key' in the mural was drawn in the form of a goldfish tail.
Gerald made sure to take note of all this as well before finally walking into the eternal coffin — with Chester following right behind him — which is still located in the middle of the structure.
While Gerald heard Lyra describe the woman in white—from her dream—as a person with a fairy temperament, Gerald had never seen her himself.
Now that he was finally here, he wanted to see it properly. After all, he kept hearing that she was a beautiful woman who had come from heaven. Is she really pretty?
With little effort, the two managed to push the lid of the coffin up half-open. Immediately after, a chill seemed to seep out from the coffin.
A few seconds later, the taste of ice disappeared and the woman in the coffin could now be seen.
“...Angelica..?” murmured Chester with a joyful expression on his face. His tone, however, hinted at a feeling of surprise and pleasure simultaneously.
Looking at the coffin better, Gerald saw that the person inside looked like a cold-looking beauty wearing clean white clothes.
With a near-unmatched beauty, Gerald must admit that she is probably the most beautiful woman on the planet.
Moreover, despite the fact that she was just lying there so peacefully, she somehow still exuded an elf-like aura. From what Gerald knew, that aura seemed to help him heal any flaws in him the moment it appeared.
'How wonderful!' Gerald thought to himself, stunned.
“Unfortunately, no matter how beautiful you are, you still belong to my doppelganger. I'm here just because I want to find Mila and uncle so that my family can finally reunite ... Anyway, I'll reunite you with him first, and once I'm done with my assignment, I hope you'll do it. Help me too. Even if it was just the smallest hint, I would happily accept it as long as it really brought me to them ." Gerald said as he looked at the woman inside the coffin before turning his gaze away.
With that said, he then closed back the lid of the coffin before jumping off the high platform along with Chester.
After looking around for a while, Gerald finally saw a curve in the middle of the tall platform. The curve itself matched the shape of the fish tail's 'key' in his hand.
'We should be able to get out of this place when I put the key inside...' Gerald thought to himself.
However, just as he was about to enter it, he suddenly heard Chester yell, “Master! Look there! There's another coffin there!”
Turning to look at the dim area Chester pointed at, Gerald immediately saw it as well.
Lying in the middle of that dark area, there was a gigantic black coffin tied together with a number of sturdy-looking chains. The way the chains were tied, it was as if they were actively preventing something from escaping.
With that in mind, it's no wonder why Chester felt so unnerved by it.
"That's weird... Why doesn't the mural show the origin of this coffin?" gerald murmured to himself in astonishment.
It wasn't the only thing he thought was strange when he arrived here. After all, where is the little coffin that has been flipped from the ship? And although there should be a giant dragon buried here, it was also invisible!
“...Don't bother about it first. Whatever, back off, Chester. I had a hunch that once the exit was opened, a lot of seawater would flow in. I will focus on caring for the eternal coffin, so remember to stay close to me, ” Gerald said.
Gerald only had one goal now, and it was the woman in white. While he was still unable to fully understand some things, he was too tired to investigate any further on the matter, at least for the time being.
Upon seeing Chester's firm nod, Gerald tucked the fish's tail in place…
A second later, a golden light emanated. And a rumbling sound soon followed!
