After everyone was ready, the brown-skinned man began to lead them all into the desert.
It was only after they had gone quite a distance when Gerald walked out of the hotel.
He really did not expect to meet Giya here of all places after a whole year. After all, he had already started working and he had also become much better.
While Gerald was tempted to reveal his identity to Giya, it had been over a year and he now knew that he still hadn't completely forgotten about it when he tested it.
He is well aware of how badly he treated her back then, and knowing that they together would be impossible, Gerald decides not to delay her from moving on any longer.
In any case, Gerald had noticed that Wynn had been very kind to Giya before. While Gerald doesn't particularly like Wynn, he believes that Wynn only wants the best for Giya. That was the reason why Gerald did not stay to treat his injured ankle back then. After all, he could see that there was already someone who would take good care of him.
Shaking his head, Gerald then took his luggage, fully ready to leave. With the promise of holy water maturing in three months, it was impossible for him not to feel anxious about it. After all, he still needed to train enough to become a full-fledged great master and also find an immortal coffin before that. Not a single second can be wasted.
Not long after entering the desert, Gerald finally meets with Giya's group. However, their route forward had been blocked by a few people wearing red-sleeved clothes.
“Hey now, why did you prevent us from continuing? You are not a desert owner!” scold some tourists.
“Our sincere apologies, but several bodies have been found in the desert a few days ago, and all of them show signs of facing a terrible death. We advise you not to enter the desert for the next few days. There really is no point in giving up your life just for the holidays!” obviously one of the red-arm men.
“And you think we don't know about this yet? We're here on an adventure and there's nothing stopping us! Don't mind the red-arm guy! Let's continue!” shouted one of the female tourists as some of them broke through the ranks.
With a group of tourists so adamant to continue, the red-armed man was unable to stop them. As the woman said, these tourists are here for adventure!
Immediately walking into the next red-arm group, Professor Yale said, “We really appreciate your work, young man. After all, while they are here on vacation, my group is here to do some research. I hope you allow us and our carts through.”.
As Yale Professor and other researchers continued, Meredith saw some tourists retreat, perhaps fearing after hearing what the red-arm man said. To his surprise, he saw a familiar figure walking behind them as well.
Waving at him, he said, "I think you're coming too!"
Nodding in response, Gerald continued walking in silence.
After realizing that he was present, Giya continued to stare at the young man. The more he looked at her, the more he felt like he knew her from somewhere. While he had a wild guess as to who it was, the person he had in mind did not have a sturdy-looking figure …
“Omong by the way, I think you should join our group .. As the people there say, this desert seems very dangerous. Staying with us should have been a lot safer because we had so many tourists in the group. Security in numbers, as they say. How?” advice Meredith from on the wagon.
“Hah! This guy seems to be here on his way to bankruptcy! I mean, he doesn't even have a camel to give him water! With a small bottle of hers, she would die of thirst first before even reaching the middle of the desert!” taunted Wynn.
“Please, join us! I can pay you!” meredith added, now more worried.
Shaking his head, Gerald simply replied, "I appreciate your help, but I must refuse!"
“Heh! You don't need it, you say? You don't know how easy it is to get lost in this desert, do you? Without my help, nine out of ten people could not get out alive! Mark my words, you will regret not joining us! Also, since you said that, even if you change your mind and someone else pays you, I still won't allow you to join us!” the Master of the Desert sneered as he stared coldly at Gerald before gulping down his beer can.
Since no one had ever told him that his help was not needed, the Master of the Desert was quite selfish.
With that, he slapped the side of the camel causing his wagon to move faster.
Meredith and Giya could only look anxiously at the walking young man who was slowly disappearing behind them.
