“I will take your silence as my agreement to pursue Xadrian then! I'll start chasing him from tomorrow!” Meredith.
“...Good,” replied Giya in a soft tone.
Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself again that Gerald was the person she loved. So what if Xadrian looks like him? In the end, he's still not Gerald.
If Meredith really likes Xadrian, then Giya knows she has no right to prevent him from pursuing his own happiness.
'You can't be so selfish, Giya!' Thought Giya, trying to amuse herself.
Regardless, neither of the girls slept the slightest bit that night because of how busy they were with their own worries.
Early the next morning, everyone was packing — get ready to go — when Meredith walked over to Gerald before saying, “Are you thirsty, Xadrian? I've got water with me if you want! ”
Hearing that, Gerald's first response was to peek at Giya through the corner of his eye. Realizing that Giya herself was secretly staring at him, Gerald turned to look at Meredith, smiling gently before replying, “...Sure, why not? I'm a little thirsty now!”
“Hehe... Since you were so focused on saving and protecting us last night, you might not get enough rest at all! So drink it to make sure you are not dehydrated too!” meredith said with a smile.
Sipping the water, Gerald then said, “...Hmm? Why is the water sweet..?”
"…Huh? Sweetie? How come?" meredith replied, surprised. However, he quickly caught what he meant.
Once he did, he could only blush as he added, “Oh, come on, Xadrian! Now you're just teasing me! ”
As the two of them continued to bicker playfully, Giya—yang still stood beside—mau unwilling to clench his fists slightly. He wasn't even sure what expression to make, judging by how he occasionally raised his face.
In his mind, he wondered if he really thought too much about everything. Maybe Meredith and Xadrian are really the perfect couple. Just by looking at them, he could tell how good they looked together!
Even after leaving the building, Giya sees Gerald occasionally chatting with Meredith as they continue their journey.
Gerald, of course, deliberately did all this in front of Giya. Because he was well aware that it was impossible for a relationship to develop between them—regardless of whether he was Gerald or Xadrian to him—by teasing Meredith, he hopes Giya will give up and forget all about him and try to start a new relationship.
The party left early in the morning, and almost noon when the Master of the Desert suddenly shouted, “...Hmm? What is it in front?”
As he said that, he stopped his camels from continuing for now.
“...Looks like a vehicle that crashed! I can see some human figures lying in the sand!” shouted one of the tourists.
"Omong empty! We're in the middle of nowhere! Why is a vehicle here all of a sudden?” replied Professor Yale.
At that moment, Gerald himself narrowed his eyes to look at the ruins. Slowly frowning, he then said, “...It's not just any vehicle. It's helicopter!”
After saying that, Gerald started running towards the crash site.
For others, Gerald is now a guide as is Master of the Desert. As a result, they all chased after him, surrounding Gerald as soon as they arrived on the scene.
Now up close to the wreckage of the helicopter, everyone could see some parts of the vehicle strewn everywhere. Since the fire from the accident had long since extinguished, Gerald estimated that the incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday.
"See there! I thought it was a corpse! ” shouted Meredith while pointing to the sand dune.
Hearing that, Gerald ran to the place Meredith had pointed to. In all, Gerald discovered that there were four bodies lying around the site of the initial accident. However, that was not what caused Gerald's eyelids to twitch after seeing the four well.
“Why are they all wearing black robes.?”
“Could they be grave robbers? You know, as they usually show in movies and television dramas…? Why else would they dress like this?”
As the others began to discuss the current situation amongst themselves among the gulps filled with worry, no one could notice the shock on Gerald's face.
Checking the four breaths of the man—just to measure twice—Gerald ensured that the four of them were dead as he thought to himself, '...How did this happen...? Why are they even here…?'
