The voice belonged to Caleb and the old man managed to block Damian's critical blow just in time.
“Will you see that! He must have endlessly trained himself to launch such a perfect punch!” gerald said as he continued to observe the fight from the sidelines.
Gerald had come to that conclusion because Damian's skills were not that different from all the other people he had killed before. However, Damian was different from them because the execution of each skill was extremely powerful!
If Gerald had to guess, Damian might have been champion much earlier than Caleb. After all, the inner strength of a champion naturally grew stronger the longer they had that title. In a way, it was like wine. The longer it is left underground, the more beautiful it feels.
While Caleb and Damian are similar to fine wines, Gerald knows that Caleb will not be able to defeat Damian.
After all, Gerald's sharp eyes had noted that although Caleb was clearly more experienced in combat, Damian's inner strength was much greater than that of the old man.
By the time fifty rounds of relentless fighting had occurred, Kaleb had already stumbled slightly as he held onto his wounded chest. He knew he would not be able to take more.
Meanwhile, Haven himself had been hiding inside the forest near Lake Benril while continuing to watch the fight that had been going on for quite some time.
He immediately got a shock in his life when he felt a hand placed on his shoulder, followed by a familiar voice that said, “So, here we go, Haven! What are you doing here?"
Closing her mouth as she turned to see who said that, she immediately replied, “...Sis? The quintin? What are you two doing here?”
“We came because we were worried about you! What do you see..?” ask Xareni.
“Sst! More calm! Look there! While I can't see too clearly from here, aren't dad and Gerald in there?” whispered Haven excitedly.
“Are you going to just stop with that Gerald guy? Can't you see that a fight is going on right now? Look, I told you earlier that our family has an enemy named Damian Wake. Since father is here, one of the two men who fought must be Damian! Thank God we caught up with you on time! Otherwise, you could destroy all of his plans! ” replied Xareni, surprised to learn that they are currently standing so close to their family enemy.
After hearing that, the three of them exchanged glances before continuing to watch the fight. They dare not leave for fear of getting caught up in the process, consequently ruining their father's plans.
“Mr Theo can't seem to accept any more, Mr Crawford! You have to help her!" zander said as he pointed at Damian.
“...B-Master. Crawford's? You can't possibly think of retreating now, right…? I'm risking my whole family's life here tonight!” Zander stutters who gets nervous after realizing that Gerald doesn't seem to be moving anytime soon.
“B-can there be any other conditions we can meet for you? Whatever it is, I will definitely do my best to complete it!” pinta Zander's.
“...I heard that the ancestor of Lovewell used to be the guardian of animals...Your family has a manuscript called the Book of Beasts, right?” ask Gerald.
Zander was stunned for a moment as soon as he heard that.
After taking a quick look at Kaleb's condition, Zander smiled at Gerald before saying, “Master. Crawford, although my ancestors may have used that skill, unfortunately it has been lost over time. I mean just look at us, we obviously don't use that skill anymore!”
Not hearing what he wanted, Gerald simply stuffed his hand into his pocket, refusing to move an inch.
Watching Caleb being thrown to the ground, Zander's nervousness now peaked.
Zander initially thought that Gerald could be easily bought with Lovewell's money and high status. In fact, he even assumed that Gerald would continue to help his family in the future because Caleb was their ally.
Now, however, he realized how wrong he was.
To think that Gerald was just motivated to help them because he had something he wanted from their family! Now that he thought about it, Gerald must have only stayed so long since Caleb told him about the history of the Lovell ancestor some time before!
After all, it was true that the Book of the Beast was in the hands of his family.
By using it, the ancestors of the Lovewell family were able to understand the language of animals! In fact, that's how the Lovewell family started their family business. While the script was passed down from generation to generation, in the late nineties, the Lovewell family finally abandoned the skill. After all, being able to understand animals was not as useful to them as it was to their ancestors. Regardless, the Book of Beasts was still a treasure from their ancestors so the Lovewells always kept it safe with them.
Currently residing in the Lovewell Manor and although not actually in use, Zander is well aware of how valuable the ancient manuscript is. He also now knows that Gerald has waited patiently all this time to force him to hand over the book.
"…good! I'll give you the book as a token of appreciation if you save my family!”
