Invisible Rich (The Invisible Rich Man 2)
Chapter 975

Gerald himself was well aware of why Heidi hosted the open auction from the start.

Simply put, he had made sure to invite as many great and powerful forces as he could in the hope that they would eventually fight each other to the death.

That way, once everyone was beaten at the end of the day, Yowell would be the only one left. In other words, not only would they earn a lot of money, but they would also be placed in a very profitable position!

Of course, Lyra and Bea had no idea about any of this and just assumed that it was an over-the-top auction.

Surprisingly, they became easy targets for Heidi to get dragged into this mess because of how mysterious the two of them were.

“Why do you two have to get involved in something so complicated..?” Gerald grumbled.

Naturally, it was he who had been spying on them all along. As Gerald saw two fresh corpses at his feet, he couldn't help but worry even more for the girls' safety.

Gerald knew that Lyra had planned to be humble this time around since he saw how few men she had brought along with her. The fact that there were so few people guarding her only added to Gerald's unease. That's why he's so actively protecting and watching the girls right now.

As for the two corpses at his feet, Gerald still could not guess who they were working for. After all, the two had obviously been sent to investigate the girls and Gerald happened to meet them when it came to spying on Lyra and Bea himself.

After dealing with them, Gerald considered ordering the Four Mighty Kings to watch over the girls. After all, the black-robed old man had ordered them to follow everything Gerald had told them.

However, in the end, Gerald chose not to do so because he knew he would not be able to calm down unless he kept an eye on them. Sitting outside their window, she knew all she could do for now was to continue listening to their conversation.

'I have broken too many hearts since my departure ... However, it seems that I have no choice because I have not been able to go home .... I feel like I let Lyra down the most, because she still thinks I'm her fiance after all this time…'

'Sorry, but it's impossible for me to be with you!' Gerald thought to himself.

Hour after hour passed and finally Bea returned to her own room to rest. Lyra herself slowly cried herself to sleep.

Gently using a finger to wipe one last tear from the corner of her eye, she then enveloped it as she sat by her bedside.

“...Gerald.. I've been... determined to be your wife since I was a child.. Please.... Just... please show yourself... Please go home..” Lyra murmured in her sleep.

"…Home? I wonder when I can finally go home by myself.” Gerald replied with a gentle tone, a bitter smile on his face.

'I appreciate your love for me Lyra... Even though we can't be together, I swear on my life that I will never let danger befall you!' Gerald thought to himself as he gently stroked his forehead with the back of his hand.

It was then that Gerald heard Lyra's bedroom door open slowly.

When Gerald immediately turned to look at the door, Gerald realized that it was too late to think about escaping now. After all, the girl who had just entered was now staring at him.

Understandably startled, the extremely shocked girl was just about to scream when the dark figure sitting on Lyra's bed directly ran towards her, covering the girl's mouth!

“No need to shout, Bea! It's me!" whispered Gerald as soon as he shut his mouth.

Bea recognized the voice anywhere and as soon as she heard it, her eyes instantly widened.

"Just calm down, we'll talk outside." added Gerald as he released his hand to his mouth and pulled the girl out of Lyra's room.

"C-cousin!" bea shouted as she jumped into her arms as soon as they were outside. He was currently experiencing a mix of positive emotions, so much so, even he was slightly trembling in his excitement.

“Is.... Is this really you, cousin? Am I dreaming?” bea asked as tears flowed down her cheeks.

Gerald could feel how tightly Bea hugged him. It was almost as if he was afraid to let go, thinking that the dream would end once he did.
