"So I guess today it looks like I'm the one driving?" jessica said making sure Nathan who is currently sitting next to her.
They were sitting quietly inside on a city bus traveling at a rather high speed on the highway. Nathan sat next to him.
Hearing Jessica's question, Nathan only nodded his head once, the young man turned his gaze next to her to look at the girl.
"I hope you don't mind that" Nathan replied. "There should be a rental car by the time we get there."
"Yes, I hope." said Jessica lazily.
Previously, Nathan had confirmed that Jessica had been awake since early in the morning. He roused the girl from her sleep and asked her to prepare from half-six in the morning. And it just makes Jessica nag and complain to Nathan.
Jessica kept telling him that she needed more than seven hours to sleep. Nathan just chuckles and thinks about how the girl looks like the kids his mother woke up with.
"And can I know where I'm going to drive later?" Jessica wondered. "Well, I need to know the purpose, don't I?"
"I will direct you to our destination" replied Nathan. "I don't intend to tell you right now, Jessica."
"You're really keeping this a secret. Ah... I'm starting to feel suspicious now." Jessica said staring cynically at Nathan
Nathan chuckled and took out a painkiller from inside the bag he was carrying. He currently needed the medicine because he felt that the pain would go away if he continued to take it. He had to drink it if he wanted to get through the day without feeling any pain.
Jessica turned back to glance at Nathan who was currently reading his newspaper. Jessica sighed and opened the magazine that had been in her hands and read it.
After a while, the bus they were riding stopped. Jessica follows Nathan from the station and remains by his side while the young man is dealing with the car rental office.
He saw it and his eyes widened.
"It's my favorite kind of car" Jessica said as Nathan handed over the keys, "I've driven something like this in Singapore."
"Then we should be safe" Nathan replied casually. Jessica smiled and she immediately unlocked the car, climbed into the driver's seat.
"Are you planning this?" Jessica asked Nathan. "Did you see what car I was driving from my social media?"
Nathan shifted, moving uncomfortably in his chair, he was busy with his bag on his lap. Meanwhile, Jessica seemed enthusiastic. He pulled the chair he was sitting on to the front and made sure that his legs were close enough to the brakes and gas. Jessica turned her gaze back to the side to look at Nathan and furrowed her brows.
"I think it'd be better if you drove the same car you've driven before" Nathan said. "Yes, I know that these cars must have a lot of variety."
"I thought you'd feel safer driving alone?"
"To be honest I'm not driving," Nathan answered and he moved to his bag, pulling out the phone to see the road signs that were inside his phone. He fiddled with his phone as Jessica started the engine of the car and he pulled his seat belt.
"Why not?" ask Jessica
"I just don't feel safe" Nathan said, "i don't like getting on planes either. You'll see that buses, trains and taxis are usually the preferred method of travel."
"Then I can think of myself as a lucky person because you allowed me to drive this time."
Nathan has tried his best to set up today. In addition, Nathan is also eager to spend more time with Jessica. He wanted to enjoy every second with this girl before going back to the organization building to work. The corners of his lips were drawn at the thought of that and Nathan so wondered if he would feel this happy forever?
But that was until Nathan saw how Jessica was driving.
"Where are you going, Jess? That's the driveway. You're going the wrong way, not the left, but the right!" Nathan pointed to the station exit on the right as Jessica passed through the gate on the left.
"Hey, I told you through that exit, not this one!" Nathan tells Jessica once again to point to the exit they just missed.
Jessica continued to drive along the road, she was seen rolling her eyes when then she stopped at a crossroads due to a red light.
"Not this one," Nathan began to get irritated. "Through the left path, you can pass the direct path."
"I chose to go through here because it's faster. You see, after this we'll cross the bridge, then we'll get back on track." Jessica tried to explain. "I'm going to take a faster path and get into a shortcut."
Nathan shook his head, "Yes, but can't you drive too far down the middle" Nathan said.
"To be honest, Nathan, you need to calm down. I can control this." Jessica said casually. "You were late to give me information anyway, why did you tell me when it was past." she said.
"I just can't let anyone else take control" Nathan lamented in frustration. "That makes me have more stress than I should. Huft, actually the calmness training I got from the organization has helped to reduce it, but it turned out not to be enough. I'm still frustrated to let you drive."
"How to drive me is almost impossible to stress people out" Jessica replied as she muttered.
Moments later they arrive at the traffic lane, they continue to follow the instructions on Nathan's phone. Jessica ended up driving down a small road and continued down that road, finally Jessica could see where they were right now.
"Old town?" he made sure to Nathan. "There's an old house here, isn't there? I remember my mother saying something when we came to Indonesia first, yes it was a long time ago."
"Yes" Nathan tells him as he stops the car and parks the car. Nathan could feel as the girl turned off the ignition. "I remember you saying that you like to look around the old old old house..."
Jessica didn't know how she felt at the time. He could feel something stabbing inside him as he leaned his back against the back of the chair. Nathan smiled then approached and pulled the nape of the girl. He put his lips closer to Jessica's lips and pressed his lips against the girl's lips, peeping briefly.
"I didn't think you were-"
Jessica could no longer continue her words. It's training. No one has ever done anything like this to her. Even though he had always been in a relationship with so many men, yet no one put himself first like this. But Nathan...Nathan always puts it first and it really makes him feel special. Jessica just hopes that one day she can reciprocate Nathan's treatment somehow.
"Thank you," whispered Jessica and Nathan immediately nodded, a small red hue visible on her cheek as she stared back at Jessica.
"Sa.. equally," Nathan replied somewhat stutteringly. "Wait moreover? We need to go inside right away. It might take about a five-minute walk into that house."
Nodding, Jessica moved out of the car and walked towards Nathan's place to help the young man out of the car. Nathan spent a while before he finally dared to make the first move.
She held her bag over her shoulder, while the other hand was currently being held by Jessica. Honestly, the hand still hurts a little bit to hug but that's okay. Nathan is also actually a bit surprised when he realizes that Jessica was the one who first embraced it.
Nathan remained silent for a moment and looked towards Jessica. He then raised his hand and pushed the girl's hair behind his ear. They started to walk towards the old house.
