"There's something that makes me so curious" said Jessica, the 20-year-old girl with doubts. He stopped talking for a while before finally turning his gaze forward, looking straight at the tall building before him.
"I've come all the way from overseas, from Singapore for a vacation. And I have even spent a full day on this day of my one week holiday schedule in Indonesia, especially for my father. But what happened was that you chose to take me to a gallery museum like this? Ah, this is a place that I guess would be full of very, very boring paintings?" Jessica Cerocos.
The long words from Jessica made the man who was about five years old recover who was walking right next to him look turned his head while raising his eyebrows.
The middle-aged man smiled amusedly for a few seconds, before turning to the gallery building before him. He turned back to look at the girl next to him. The man seemed to have no intention of saying anything to defend himself and just shrugged his shoulders indifferently. He then moved forward in a human queue movement that would lead to the gallery building.
Feeling that her father did not respond to her words, Jessica just pinched her lips.
Why did he just shut up and say nothing? Was he offended by my words? And what is this, why do I feel so bad after telling her that.
"It's not that I'm disappointed" Jessica said quickly correcting the intent of her sentence just now, while trying to control the disappointed expression on her face. "My point is. I'm really happy because you're really willing to spend some time in your busy schedule just to meet me like this."
Jessica's words made the man beside her turn to her again. The man sighed slowly then turned to stare at the surrounding area.
"Dad tried as much as I could to take Jessica's father's time" the old man said.
"I'm glad you did this."
"Yes, you should know that I'd see you more often if I could. So far the work in the ministry office is very much and keeps dad so busy. I barely even got to eat. Yes, you know what it's like." replied the middle-aged man with an earnest look.
Jessica grieved as she heard the sentence and folded her hands in front of her chest. "How do I know what it's like?"
"Yes, you don't know how exhausting this is. You'll never know. You're right!" the old man chuckled with a sliced smile.
What the hell does that mean? Why is he insinuating me like that? Yeah, I don't know what it's like to work in a ministry office like that. But he doesn't have to insinuate me like that...
Jessica narrowed her eyes while shaking her head. He tried to think again what the meaning of the sentence his father had said to him just now.
"Come on, dad. Don't overdo it. My father works in the Ministry. That's a good job. I even have regular work hours. How can you not eat?" his tirade made the father again chuckle.
"How about we use this free time that you have well. Maybe a thank you and a happy smile will look better, compared to a scolding like this?"
Jessica rolled her eyes lazily. His father tried to insinuate him again. "All right! Thank you, my dear father."
Jessica silently smiled. This time, it seems like her mother was wrong. See, his father was willing to ask permission to accompany him for a walk. Well, although it wasn't as fun as he expected, but his father came.
Ah, but her mother has been kind because she tried to warn Jessica that work will always come first by her father. And his mother was not wrong with that. But her mother was not entirely right either. Because look at this! Now the father was willing to set aside a full day to go with Jessica.
And what currently appears in Jessica's head is the speech of her mother. Why did his mother choose to be pessimistic and say that her father would prefer his job? It made him wonder in his heart whether his mother hated his father for his job or for anything else.
Didn't it before they divorced Dad ever betrayed mom and made mom hate dad so much? But I hate my father's job so much. Ah, is my cheating in the same office where I work? Or maybe the father is just too dedicated to his work so forget about the mother. Jessica silently glanced at her father.
"Dad must be busy, I know that. But what about me? How about being a student who has a lot of work. Isn't that also a busy activity. I'm busy, too, and I need a nice vacation" Jessica said.
"Ah, if you know this, I would bet that this holiday season will take place in a boring way for me! It's not that I'm complaining, but right now it feels like I just want to go back to college and study with my friends. It looks more challenging, compared to being bored here." Jessica stared at the gallery building lazily.
"No need to go to college. You can learn when you're on vacation like this. You know that clearly! Are we going back to the hotel where you're staying now?" his father said, looking at him with arched eyebrows.
Jessica rolled her eyes when she heard her father say. This middle-aged man was completely insensitive. He just wants a great vacation, okay! Instead of going to the gallery and enjoying a painting that he did not understand at all even he thought was very boring.
Not to take me to a better place. He took me back to the hotel...
"Ah, I think now I can enjoy the painting," Jessica said later with a forced grin. "And to learn, I don't think I really want it now. Learn I can do it next time."
"And what did your mother say about that?"
"About what?"
"Learn."
Jessica grieves cynically. "I don't even want to tell you what he said about studying. It's because mom's babble is so long and it's gonna make me tired of having to say it back to me."
His father just smiled, "How's your mother doing?"
"Mother.she.yes.she is busy at the moment" Jessica said slowly. "He met someone new."
"New man again?"
