Jessica doesn't really know how to react when she sees Nathan through her nursery glass. His first reaction upon seeing the young man was shock. Just imagine, he could see that the corner of the young man's lips looked bloody. This time he did not wear glasses. And it showed purplish bruises that formed near his eyes there were also other bruises on the temples and some other places.
The young man was wearing blue hospital clothes with his blanket pulled over his chest.
Jessica could not go inside, as Regina was still in the ward with Nathan, speaking in a slow tone. Maybe it's something secret, no problem.
Meanwhile Jessica still remained outside the ward with Evelyn, waiting for a while, giving Regina some time.
Jessica closed both her eyes. He could feel a headache starting to appear as he leaned his forehead against the cold wall.
"Jessica," Evelyn suddenly spoke.
Jessica opened her eyes and blinked as she felt her blurred vision. He turned his head and could see Regina who was standing by the door, her arms folded over his chest as he watched the young girl.
"You can enter now," Regina said in a soft tone. "We'll leave you for a while. After this, Evelyn will come back here to take you home, so-"
"Em, can I not go?" Jessica wondered in a pleading-sounding tone.
"You want to be here?" Regins asked confusedly.
"Yes, actually I don't want to leave Nathan alone in this place. After all, didn't my father want me here in the first place, then there must be a reason behind it. I have to stay here and do what my father said."
Regina took a deep breath and nodded at him, she looked at Evelyn with a knotty smile.
"Go home, Evelyn," said Regina. "I have an agent patrolling near the hallway and another man standing guard inside the ward for Nathan's safety. No doubt, Jessica here should also be protected."
"Well, ma'am," Evelyn said as she nodded her head before finally leaving the passageway.
Regina opens the door for Jessica. The young girl stepped in, looking towards Nathan as the young man looked back at her with narrowed eyes.
"Jessica," Nathan called her name in a soft tone of voice. "Thank God you're here."
"Of course I'm here" Jessica replied, slowly moving to Nathan's bedside. "I'll come regardless of anything."
"I mean, luckily you're here" Nathan replied insisting. "Actually, I heard firsthand and saw what Dimitri had planned. I was there when they made their plans. And they say they're going to blow up the organization's underground headquarters. That's why you have to come here, so you're safe."
Jessica nodded her head understandingly. "I'm safe here."
"Dimitri, he showed Robert his plan and that's why your father was willing to go with him. Dimitri knows that Mr. Robert has left you there and it's clear that it's a good threat to your father."
"Then... did Dimitri do this to you?" Jessica wondered, pointing at Nathan with her chin, while both of her hands were now perched on the side of Nathan's bed.
"It wasn't him, but one of his men did it to me" Nathan said. "It was his men who took care of me who beat me. Yeah, it's my own fault because sometimes I'm not good at holding back my speech. That's one of my vices, I guess. I often speak before I think."
"I'm sorry for all this, Nathan" Jessica whispered to the young man, bowing her head. "If I ti-"
"I know you're gonna start blaming yourself for all this." Nathan chuckles. "Look, none of this is your fault at all, Jessica. You need to stop blaming yourself."
"How can I not blame myself?" Jessica says. "Everything that happened was clear because of me! Look Nathan, I even saw a train full of dead people…"
"That's Dimitri who did it. He put the bomb there" Nathan reminded. He then ventured to move his hand over the girl's arm, slowly wiping the blazer Jessica was wearing.
"Your father has experienced many difficult situations, Jessie." whispered Nathan. Slowly she tried to straighten her aching body, so that her face was only inches away from Jessica's face. "He's gonna get out of this mess, Jessica."
"Has the situation ever been this severe?" Jessica asked Nathan. "Dad said it was hard, even for her."
"Mrs. Robert is a good agent. Dimitri doesn't even have a chance to beat your father." Nathan tried to calm the girl's mind. "And you have to keep believing that."
"I will do my best to believe that my father will solve everything" Jessica told the man.
Jessica nodded, slowly pulling Nathan, trying to hug him. Nathan draws himself closer to Jessica and sticks his head, leaning on her.
Jessica slowly let go of their embrace, then kissed Nathan's bruised cheek. As soon as he felt that, Nathan closed his eyes, Jessica's warm breath hitting his pale skin.
"I'll take care of you" Nathan suddenly told Jessica just after he opened his eyes to see the girl again.
"I think it's you here who needs to be taken care of" Jessica replied chuckling.
"I'm serious" Nathan told him. "I won't let Dimitri attack you again, Jessica. And if.if your father doesn't catch him.this time.then I will-"
"Let's hope my father succeeds. Ah no, my father will definitely make it and get out of all this mess," Jessica said, forcing herself to put a little smile on the man.
Nathan nodded at Jessica. Actually his belief in Robert was a little shaky earlier.
"Ah, and so is..." Jessica cleared her throat for a moment, before continuing her sentence. "In addition, we need to make a promise first before you intend to take care of me."
"What-like?" Nathan wonders.
"Go both."
