Jessica moved back from Nathan as soon as she heard her father's voice. While Nathan himself has the decency to stop. He understood that they had just been in pergoki and that made his cheeks flushed with a little embarrassment.
Jessica turned her head to the side, looking at her father who was standing in the corridor with his hands folded on his chest. He was wearing a gray suit over his body and his eyes revealed a circle below that indicated that he was not yet asleep and looked as if he was ready to sleep at any moment.
Come on, Robert can also feel tired.
"Dad," said Jessica, forgetting the fact that her father had just caught her and Nathan was kissing. He got out of the elevator and ran to hug his father.
Robert let go of the pose he had put up earlier and hugged his daughter tightly for a while before then he grabbed her with his arms, his fingers wrapped around Jessica's shoulders.
"Have you managed to get here just fine?" ask Robert to Jessica.
"We're not being tracked, if that's what you mean," Nathan interrupted and he pushed his glasses further up his nose as he began walking down the corridor into the white room.
Robert followed her, wrapping his arm around Jessica's shoulder as he went towards the office.
"What do we know so far?" Nathan wondered, starting to get into work mode while putting his hands in his jacket pocket.
"There was an attack******* in the Home Ministry building," Robert said.
"It's like Batman, he's everywhere with all of a sudden "Jessica murmured to herself and Robert furrowed an eyebrow hearing him.
Nathan looked back to look back at Robert in between his steps. Nathan shook his head. "Why do you think it's Dimitri?"
Robert sighed and rubbed his chin as they turned left.
"He was caught on CCTV a few hours ago leaving the market. The camera didn't catch him and no one was suspicious about him. There was no reason to suspect he was doing anything wrong. He really mingled with those people."
"Of course he's good at disguising himself, it's his job first." Nathan retorted.
Nathan curses in his head and finally enters the office room, moving down the corridor. The room was empty and Nathan checked the clock that had just shown him at nine p.m. He could feel moans erupting in his throat as he considered the possibility of going back to stay in that cold room all night. He knew that Robert would not stop long if there was nothing he could do.
"Did Regina send you to chase after her?" Nathan wonders.
Robert shook his head.
"We don't know where he's going or what he wants to do. Until it was revealed, Regina didn't even want me to do anything."
"But will he send you?" Jessica was worried.
Robert let go of her embrace and she turned to face him. Robert took a moment to extend a hand and push the girl's hair behind his ear, hoping it would calm him down. Jessica shook her head before looking over Robert's shoulder and into the wall behind him.
"You're a secret agent, right?" Jessica checked that fact. "Surely there's a better agent who can go after Dimitri? Why should I be dad again?"
"That's because dad had prior knowledge of the case-"
"The case that almost took your life" Jessica complained to her father. "Have you ever thought about what could happen to you?"
"And what about all those people, Jessie?" Robert wondered. "People are hurt because of him. I have to do something to stop him."
"Why should I be dad?" Jessica complained again and she sat herself down on an empty chair at someone's desk.
Nathan remained silent as the two of them continued their debate on the matter. He knew that the two of them were as stubborn as each other. He could only stand and work while counting the minutes until they started shouting at each other.
"Dad knows you're worried" said Robert and he pulled up another chair to sit in front of him, folding one leg over the other. "Dad is worried too. All I want is to catch Dimitri and deal with all this."
"But there will definitely be others" Jessica whispered to her father, looking into her lap and clasping each other's hands. "There will be someone else who shoots you. That's the part that worries me the most."
He felt safe, yes it was true, but he did not feel any excitement. It confused him to no end. He needs adrenaline. This is what he's good at. That's what he wants to do.
"That's my job, Jessica," whispered Robert.
"I get it," Jessica murmured to him. "I also know that you're the only one of my immediate family left. I know if anything happens to you then I'll be ruined."
"I wish I would continue to do so."
"It's no joke" Jessica hissed at her father, her gaze narrowing towards her father.
Robert raised his hand. "You have to understand that I've been doing this job for years, Jessica. I can't give up now."
"You're risking your life, dad" Jessica said, her tone soft but firm. "How could you consider doing that as a job, dad? I haven't said anything right yet, but I'm really worried about you."
"You don't have to worry about me" Robert promised. "Dad can handle herself, Jessica"
"really? Can you handle it" Jessica whispered. "I know I can't make you do what you want, father .. but if this is Dimitri's problem .. surely he'll hurt you ... does he want you to go after him?"
"Dad doesn't know, Jessica," Robert shook his head and stood up, knowing that he should immediately talk to Regina at this time. "Dad will find out soon."
He leaned over to kiss the girl's head then looked towards Nathan. Nathan had turned to look back at the two of them and saw Robert looking at him.
"Take him," demanded Robert.
"Where are you going?" Jessica wondered at her father.
"Right now I need to talk to Regina" he replied. "You have to stay here with Nathan and make sure he doesn't get in trouble."
"I doubt it will happen" Nathan muttered to Robert and he turned to look at his computer screen.
"I'll be right back" said Robert and he turned and left.
After her father's departure, Jessica let out a deep sigh. He then stood up, moving to stand beside Nathan.
His shoulder hit Nathan, making the young man stop working for a moment and look down at him with curved eyebrows.
"Are you trying to distract me?" she whispered to him and Jessica shook her head, a small smile appearing on her face as Nathan nudged her back.
"No."
"Well," Nathan said to her and began typing quickly again before she froze and opened the CCTV from the outside. He gulped loudly and watched as security was dropped.
"Damn," he murmured to himself. "Someone breached security. Someone just barged in. Someone stopped the CCTV footage...I have to go to Regina..."
"Someone?" Jessica said surprised. A panic-stricken roar rose in his voice as his hand wrapped around Nathan's arm. "Him?"
"I don't know who," Nathan shook his head. "But I need to tell Regina. Security has been breached and we have to go faster than he."
Jessica let her hand slide down Nathan's arm until her fingers found her finger and she wrapped her hand around Nathan's arm.
Nathan lowered his head at her and did his best to calm the girl down by clasping her hands. He was silent for a while longer and followed Nathan through the corridor, doing his best not to think about the worst.
