So, where have you been all this time, Dad?" Jessica asked her father as they were sitting casually in a restaurant for lunch.
Robert who was sitting opposite him was silent, not intending to answer. He picked up a glass of water that had just been poured by the waiter just before they ordered the food.
Jessica looked at her father with furrowed brows. He was patiently still waiting for his father's answer to his question just now.
"Dad thinks you know where you're going" Robert replied to her in a relaxed tone.
"Come father. How I know. I haven't even got a single call from you in weeks."
"Didn't Dad send you a letter?"
"Yes, right. Dad did send me a letter, but I never even called. Sending one letter, that's all you do. Besides, there was never any information about father. What the hell is going on?"
Robert sighed as he looked at the wondering expression of Jessica. The girl seemed very curious about him. And Robert could only shake his head, and again take the water glass that was in front of him and straighten it out. He remained silent when shortly afterwards a servant came to deliver their order.
Jessica thanked the waiter as she arranged the plate in front of her. And that was when Robert secretly looked at the face of the girl.
What am I supposed to say about this? Robert looked at Jessica's face.
Robert wondered inwardly what he should say to this girl before him. It's not really a big deal if Jessica finds out about it. About what his job is.
But, should he tell Jessica about this? Wouldn't it be dangerous if he told Jessica this. She was sure, Jessica would definitely be interested to ask more about her work. The girl will feel curious and demand Robert to tell more details about this. Robert didn't want that to happen.
After all, his duty was something very secretive. So, all that makes Robert think twice to tell everything to his daughter.
"Dad!"
Robert awoke from his daydreams as he heard the girl's sudden exclamation.
"Yes" Robert replied in his surprise.
"I asked you what you've done so far? What's going on?" Jessica asked Robert again.
"Nothing, Jessie. I just have to do a very secret business that the ministry office gives me." Robert replied to him.
Jessica clucked, "How secretive is that? Dad can tell me." Jessica said as she scooped her food into her mouth.
He then placed his hand on his chin as Jessica was seen starting to enjoy the food on his plate.
Jessica chewed her food and her eyes narrowed, looking cautious as she asked Robert again. "Dad knows clearly that I can't possibly divulge the secrets of that father's job, right?"
"And you also know clearly that you can't even be banned from sharing confidential information or anything about what the Ministry does, right? That's an illegal thing, because again, it's very classified information, Jessica."
Jessica rolled her eyes lazily and finished her last mouthful. His eyebrows then shriveled as he looked back at the father.
"I felt something was strange" Jessica said slowly looking at her father suspiciously.
Robert stopped his mouthful. "What's so weird?"
"I mean, you're there for a while, and then you can disappear the next minute. Yeah, I know you used to say that the job would get you anywhere, but is that right? Must it be for weeks like this?"
"It's hard to believe, but that's the way it is" replied Robert who then chose to change the subject. "By the way, do you want me to take you back to the hotel?"
"Who wants to go back to the hotel?" Jessica raised her eyebrows.
"I'll stay at dad's. And will I be allowed to stay with you after tonight?"
Robert hesitated to answer. Until he finally nodded his head."Yeah, you can stay at Dad's tonight."
"Where are we going tomorrow?" ask Jessica enthusiastically.
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
"We're not going anywhere?" ask Jessica
Robert nodded. "Yes." Yeah."
"Well, what about the next days. Where else would you like to take me?"
"Dad will take you home, of course."
"Come home?"
Robert nodded his head. "Yes! And I'll take you to Singapore."
