My Dad Turns Out to be Eyes

My Dad Turns Out to be Eyes

Nathan was standing next to his desk, typing on his computer quickly. He had been in the study alone for more than two hours. Everyone has gone and gone to their homes.

Actually Nathan can't pretend that he's not jealous to see his subordinates go home and sleep well at home. Yes, she also prefers to go home and sleep, but for now she will refuse and hold herself back from leaving until Jessica can get back with her, being by her side.

While busy with her work, suddenly a small message is seen in the bottom corner of her computer telling her that she has one new email. It was probably Robert who had something to say to her. But he is also not too sure because usually Robert never sends him an email and prefers to call him only.

With hesitation, Nathan clicked on the email and could immediately see the contents of it which turned out to be a link. Nathan usually doesn't open links of things he doesn't know like this. But somehow he felt that this must be a different thing and he had to open it. It's something that came at a coincidental time with Jessica's disappearance.

Slowly, Nathan moves the mouse in his hand, to open the link and instantly a web video appears and Nathan's webcam turns on itself.

The sight on the computer screen made Nathan feel shocked and horrified. Much more than he thought. He stared unblinkingly. She squinted as she wondered if the person on the screen was Jessica.

Now on his computer screen, Nathan could see that the room was very dark. There is a brick wall as a background and also a small lamp hanging on the ceiling of the room. That'sthat's all.

Ah, and also a chair in the middle of the room just below the lamp. Nathan could see Jessica tied up in the chair. Nathan could see blood dripping from the girl's nose, the blood that Nathan had supposedly dried up on her pale skin. Jessica's hair looked so messy and also bruises formed on her cheeks. Nathan believes Jessica must have been trying to fight the villain and make them hurt him. That's why he could get hurt like this.

"Nathan, I'm so happy that you're joining us" someone spoke. It was clearly a male voice.

Nathan did not answer, he pushed his glasses further up the base of his nose. He carefully tried to track the sender of that link while looking at the scene on the screen simultaneously.

"Why are you just silent? Isn't there something you want to say to your little girl, Nathan?" the man spoke again.

"I doubt that you would be interested in hearing my words" Nathan said as his eyes continued to watch the dark room and the scene before him.

"You're right" replied the voice again.

Nathan can't see his figure. The man was hidden from his eyes. There is no doubt that she is currently behind the camera where Jessica is sitting.

"After all, I don't have all day to do this. Where's Robert? Why haven't I heard the man's voice?"

"He went to look for his son" Nathan replied cynically.

"She must be looking around for Jessica around town, right?" replied the man casually. "Oh yeah, I know you're always trying to find Jessica's position. Ah, I think I should tell you that you can stop trying to keep track of him because I've already diverted everything you're trying to do."

Nathan curses inside his head then his eyes look back at Jessica on the screen. "What are you really trying to want?" ask Nathan.

"The key," the man replied casually. "I already have the code, which I sent you back then. Yes, I can say that's one first step. And now I need the key."

Nathan thought of what key the man meant and his brows furrowed at once. What does it mean to be missile key? Wait, why does he need that key?

"But why?" Nathan wonders. "Why do you need the key?"

Nathan could hear the man sigh and Jessica looked up to see the man who had started walking along the room. He is still hiding behind the camera.

"It looks like your organization's office has been overseeing one of our arms dealers in Germany" he began telling Nathan. "I knew there was a man in Germany who was assigned to oversee our trade. And I also know, the rest of the members, they seem to be hiding underwater in a government submarine."

"How do you know?" Nathan raised his eyebrows.

"Yes, our guy has a submarine too. And it was his main intention why I intended to trade nuclear weapons. It's clear that your organization's submarines already have weapons. And they must be waiting to blow up our submarine as soon as they figure out the delivery schedule."

Nathan shook his head in a hurry.

"The key is not here. And they-"

"No way" Nathan replied. "I don't even know where they are or how to take the key. After all, the people on the submarine will definitely be waiting for them."

"I don't care." replied the man.  "Tell Robert that he has twenty-four hours to bring what I want or that his beautiful daughter will end up the same way as his mother."

"What do you mean?" Nathan dared to ask, he stared doubtfully. Afraid of the answers he would receive.

Only when the camera is turned from Jessica in the other direction, Nathan's eyes are immediately rounded. He could see a body lying on the floor. Blood seeped out of the body and Nathan could faintly see that it was the face of Katherine Bailey.

Mother of Jessica.

"Oh my God" whispered Nathan.

"He's dead" said the man.

Nathan's eyes became more and more rounded. "What?"

"Yes, he tried to run away from me earlier" the man replied casually. "Fortunately, Jessica did not do the same. He doesn't interfere with my work. Ck, I hope he can stay calm like that."

The camera then moves back to Jessica and the girl chooses to turn her face away from the camera. He didn't want Nathan to see how he was right now.

"You obviously have all the codes for all those nuclear weapons. I know that." sizzled Nathan. "... But why do you need another key?"

"Yes, honestly I don't want to start a nuclear war," the man replied with a chuckle. "I just want to stop your organization from making plans. Imagine, they used their weapons to bomb us."

"The codes, what do you want to do with all that?"

"That's none of your business. Right now I'm doing my job. Now, I don't have enough time so is there anything you want to say to Jessica? He obviously missed you a lot. Ah, you must have successfully tamed it. She was a wild girl before. I've never seen him look so sad before."

Nathan gulped, wondering inwardly about what he could say to the girl. She had no chance as the man had moved to stand next to Jessica. The man continued to keep his face from being seen as his hand leaned against Jessica's shoulder.

"Look at her eyes" the man said softly to Jessica. "Quick you look him in the eye and tell him how much you care about him. Tell me you miss him. Come on, Jessica we both know you can say it."

Jessica chose to remain silent. He felt his throat feel dry, very dry. He didn't think he could talk at this moment. Nathan's breath was stuck in his throat as Jessica lifted her pen and looked at him. Neither of them said anything to each other. They realize that no comforting words are suitable for their current situation.

"Nothing to say?" the man made sure, he then hit Jessica on the back of the head slowly. "How boring are you both."

He moves back behind the camera and says his last words to Nathan.

"Tell Robert to hurry. You guys have less than a day." he told Nathan.

"But how did Robert find you?"

"I'll make sure he knows it soon" the man said, then clapped his hands briefly. "Now, get to work, Nathan. You have a girlfriend to save right now."
