Hearing that voice, Nathan who had yet to notice the presence of the woman turned his head. He was seen sighing in relief after seeing the woman standing before him.
"No," Nathan replied shaking his head in response to the superior.
"So I went to the National Gallery first to distract those people, only then did I pass through the underground station before I finally came here. And I can confirm that no one is following us." Nathan explained.
"Good," said Marie sounding proud. "Then how did you find the girl and bring her here?"
Nathan turned to Jessica at a glance and smiled awkwardly while scratching the back of his non-itchy head.
"He. well.you know...Robert.actually..." Nathan said with a stammering tone. He knew clearly that he should not have done what Robert had asked this morning. This girl was definitely not the business of their organization at all. They're government agents, not babysitters.
"Robert?" asked the woman again to raise her eyebrows.
"Yes, Robert! She.. asked me to watch her. and well... track her.." Nathan awkwardly said.
The woman then looked at Nathan with a look of dislike. And Nathan knew that he didn't agree with Nathan's explanation at all.
"And did you not tell Robert that our organization has no business and no relationship at all with his personal matters?" said the woman replied Nathan, next to her eyebrows looked up and an annoyed expression was clearly plastered on her face.
Nathan smiled awkwardly. She looked back at Jessica before she lowered her head. At this time he was too confused to say what to the superior who stood before him. Nathan felt so wrong. On the one hand, Robert had left his son and asked Nathan to keep his safety. But on the other hand, this is not at all the business of the organization.
"Well, that's what I mean. I think someone was trying to hurt him. or at least try to scare him," Nathan tried as hard as he could to explain to his boss.
"What happened?" Marie demanded an explanation from her handy programmer.
"His life is in danger, Marie. I think someone was trying to chase him. Otherwise, why would they have to send someone armed to chase him earlier? Thankfully, I was there. If not him..." Nathan could no longer continue his sentence.
Nathan let out a tired sigh, "He's Robert's son. I'm sure, they must be trying to catch up to him to get Robert's attention."
"You're right. This must be to get Robert's attention." the woman replied as she nodded her head in agreement. He then sighed slowly, putting his hands to the base of his nose, gently massaging it, reducing the dizziness in his head.
"You've done well, Nathan. Yeah, for someone who's not a field agent like you this is the best deed."
Nathan nodded his head, "thank you" he said.
"What did you find? What seems suspicious to you?" ask Marie.
"That's.they sent some kind of virus to his laptop," Nathan said looking at Jessica before he pointed to the girl's purse.
Jessica seemed to understand and opened her bag and then took and handed the Macbook again. Nathan put the object on the table before he turned it on and showed a picture of the skull and a sentence nearby.
Marie stood beside Nathan, looking at the man before looking at Jessica. He knew very well that all this time Robert had kept a secret about his true identity from his daughter.
"I believe that now you know that your father was no ordinary civil servant" Marie and Jessica nodded.
"I was very surprised by this" he said in a slightly sarcastic tone. Jessica was silent for a while and then she looked at Marie. "Who is he? Who's my dad really?"
"Your father is one of the best secret agents we have" Marie told Jessica in a calm-sounding tone. He folded his hands in front of his chest as he glanced at Nathan who was currently busy with his computer. The young man is trying to hack back and find out about the virus on Jessica's Macbook.
Marie sighed softly, before looking back at Jessica as she continued her sentence.
"He's the best agent we have. All this time your father tried to hide his identity from you because he knew how much danger he would get from the job. Any relationship he has with you can easily make his enemies hurt you, can hurt you. He's just trying to do what he thinks is best for you. For you!" Marie.
Marie knew clearly that she currently did not have time to explain everything to the girl. So he just tells the core stuff.
And damn, even Jessica doesn't know the full story about her father. Jessica just absorbed some of the main information she could capture from Marie's explanation of her just now.
One, his father was no ordinary civil servant who worked in the Ministry of Defense. Okay, his father did work in the Ministry of Defense but as a member of BIN? Is he a secret agent?
And secondly, because of his work, someone tried to hurt him. Ah no, someone is trying to hurt her to get her father's attention.
