Jessica looked at her father for a moment. It was then that Robert also paid attention to him for a while. Robert knew very well what his daughter was going to say. Yes, Robert had learned to read the attitude of his daughter from the first time he met her.
"I know why you never tried to tell me. I know something like this is a state secret." Jessica told her father.
Jessica then continued her sentence while leaning her back against the concrete wall that was nearby. "I understand the reason, father.but I just feel a little hurt because you didn't tell me. I'm hurt because you don't trust me enough?"
Robert could see the injured expression in the child's eyes. Robert let out a long breath and shook his head.
"What did you say Jessica. Of course I believe in you" Robert replied, touching his father's shoulders. "Dad only thought it would be better if you didn't know. I thought it would be a lot safer for you. You know that all this time I've even been trying to make sure no one knows anything about the relationship between us. That's what I do to keep you safe."
"I can understand that" Jessica said with a smile on Robert. "I'm also grateful for that. But honestly, I just wish that dad would tell me everything instead of dad spending all his time lying to me like this."
"That's because you feel a lie will be easier to do." Robert tried to explain. "After all, would you have thought that your mother would let me approach you again if she knew who my real father was?"
Jessica bit her lower lip, taking her eyes off her father's eyes. Trying to keep her heart calm even though she felt annoyed.
He then nodded. "Yes, I don't think you're gonna let that happen."
"Jessica, I know that I can tell you later, maybe when you grow up. But I think it'll be safer if you keep lying. And I never meant to make you hurt at all because of this." said Robert Lirih. "Dad can understand completely if you feel very angry at me for this matter."
"Yes, I'm angry." Jessica told her father. "And yesterday when Nathan and Marie told me about all this, I didn't want to do anything other than want to finish my father off with my own hands. I'm just upset why I should know about this horrible thing from someone else."
Robert smiled slightly. "Dad's really sorry dear. And I hope the anger has subsided now" said Robert, a small smile still on his face.
"Ck, don't be so sure" Jessica said cynically. "I can finish Dad here right now."
Robert chuckles. "But I'm sure that you can take you shopping, it can help you stay alive in your hands" Robert joked to the girl, putting both hands on Jessica's cheeks.
"How's it?" ask Robert then.
Jessica looked into the father's eyes, and then she sighed violently and closed her eyes.
"All right! It could help a little, "Jessica finally answered while opening her eyes.
He knew very well that he could not be angry at his father. Jessica thought she had done the right thing by not continuing to hate or be angry at her father. Jessica admitted, at first she did feel very angry, upset and also hate because of the big lie of the father to her. Jessica admitted. But slowly he will try to accept this.
Robert kissed Jessica's head before stroking her hair back. And combed the girl's hair behind her ears.
"Then what are we going to do now?" jessica asked her father.
"Dad will see him?"
Robert nodded his head. "Yes. You can stay here or come with me and wait outside the prison where Dimitri is being held."
"I think I'd rather just stay here" Jessica said awkwardly. Right now he just doesn't want himself to be in touch with anything that concerns his father's work.
"Okay, I'm sure Nathan won't mind taking care of you any longer" Robert said.
"Talking about Nathan, I feel like you shouldn't be so hard on Nathan. He saved my life, remember?" Jessica told Robert.
"Dad didn't feel like he was being rude to her" replied Robert, trying to defend himself. "And I also thought that it wasn't him who kept you alive, it was you who kept him alive. If it wasn't for saving you, he would've been shot because he was so slow.."
"I'm not going to say anything anymore" Jessica answered, raising both hands, choosing to give up on her father who seemed to be dislikeful of Nathan.
"But I'm fine, right?" ask Jessica again to her father. "The person who attacked me back then was really terrible. He looks very dangerous."
"Dad's fine. There's nothing you can't handle. And Jessica, it's a risk from dad's job to get shot by someone. And you shouldn't have been at the helm that night. I'm really sorry for you."
"Stop apologizing dad, because now I'm fine. I just ... do you know how unreal this is for me?"
"Yes, just imagine! I didn't even know my father was a spy. And at the time of the attack, no one even told me how I should react. I don't know what it was like or what I had to do at the time. Because at the time, I didn't even know what was going on. I don't know why that guy was after me." Jessica said at length.
"Yes, I mean, because I don't know who the real father is. So I didn't have any preparation at the time." he continued.
"You can calm down now, Jess. You'll feel like days are always, '" Robert said to his daughter. "And now you're not doing anything because I'm gonna keep you safe now that I'm here."
"Yes, I know," Jessica replied and once again Robert kissed the girl's head. Robert couldn't believe how lucky this girl was because she wasn't hurt. Yeah, despite what a little scratch on his face. Robert was relieved. He was not sure if he could forget the feeling of relief he was feeling at the moment.
"Well, you go back to the room and I'll be back here any minute."
"Yes, dad."
"And so, you asked Nathan to quickly bring his laptop to me." Robert told Jessica who had stepped out.
"I won't say anything to her" Jessica smiled at her father and walked back into the room.
