My Dad Turns Out to be Eyes

"Lucy says that dad is a very manageable person. He was a bit of a nagging." Jessica told her father with a laugh on her face as she came to the living room and sat down on the sofa, right next to her father.

He placed the sofa cushion on his feet and stared at the television. His father is currently watching the news that was aired late at night. One cup of coffee was on the table in front of him next to the remote.

"What did you tell her?" Robert wondered at the girl with a glare still fixed on the television in front of him.

"Yes, I told her that dad asked to even try to keep myself here since the day she died" Jessica said, shaking her shoulder. "She inevitably had to accept my departure to Indonesia."

Robert nodded his head and raised his hand and rubbed the girl's head gently. "Don't worry, you'll be able to meet again when you get the chance."

"She even offered to come visit me later when she was on vacation or when she had some free time."

"It's okay, he can come here to see you as he pleases" Robert said with a smile. "And what about her? Did he find a new friend to replace your rented house?"

"She said that a friend of hers happened to be looking for a place and she would see if she wanted to take my place" Jessica said.

"Good then." Robert nodded his head.

"Yes, he packed my things and sent me the picture. I'm so grateful for Lucy's help" Jessica said.

Jessica then crossed her hands in front of her chest and leaned her back on the back of the chair and let out a long sigh.

"What's wrong?" ask Robert about his daughter.

"Nothing" said Jessica. "Just, he seems to be really worried about me. He kept asking me why I decided to leave Singapore all of a sudden. I even spent half of the time on that phone call just trying to convince her that there was nothing wrong with me. I just want to move."

"You lied to him" Robert made it clear.

"Well, more or less so," Jessica replied with a frown, "He doesn't need to know everything that's happened this summer right? But yeah, I did tell him about my relationship with Nathan."

"What do you think?"

"Yes, he said that the men at my college would be very disappointed." Jessica chuckles to herself. "And so, apparently Daniel was really interested in me. She sent Lucy a message and she also sent me messages throughout the holidays"

Robert raised his eyebrows. "If she's interested in you, then why did she choose to send Lucy a message?"

"Oh dad, of course it's to find out if I'm interested in him or not." Jessica rolled her eyes.

This time it was Robert who rolled his eyes. That's a childish way he thinks. Is that how young people approach the opposite sex. But he didn't see anything like that from Nathan. Yes, Robert would never be the one to understand things like this. Robert himself never questioned women. His life had even been surrounded by women without resorting to such ridiculous means.

Robert then took his breath.

"Father need not worry," Jessica replied and the girl then leaned on her father's shoulder. The girl looks so relaxed.

"Hm." Robert shook his head, choosing to ignore it. He put the television remote in his hand and taped his arm behind the sofa.

"Come on dad.Nat least Nathan is not a drug kingpin. There's nothing you need to worry about."

"Dad doesn't know if this is supposed to make you feel better knowing you two are becoming more intimate?" Robert wondered. A grin on her face appeared and Jessica shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know either" Jessica replied. "If you don't feel better, you don't have to push. Besides, the longer I'll be able to take it."

"Hmm," Robert just cleared his throat in response. "Dad only had one message about you and him. Make sure you put your studies first before Nathan. College is number one, Nathan is number two."

"Yes, dad," Jessica rolled her eyes lazily as she replied. His face pouted before then coming to look at the television screen. He took a while before he spoke again. "So, did you know who Nathan was that day when we met him at the gallery? I mean. I saw a father who didn't seem to know him."

"Speaking about that day. Dad doesn't know who he is. At that time my father asked to meet him at the Painting Gallery."

"Ck, now I know why you chose us to go to that boring place to accompany me on my vacation." Jessica grieves.

"Yes" Robert chuckled.

"Dad met him that day. Dad just found out about it. He's new to the organization, replacing one of the retired seniors. But he's been paid to work with the organization since he went to college because of his ability" Robert replied to him. "And before that he worked in the office of the ministry of relations for-"

"To cover up his original work. Nathan told me."

"Yes. He seems to enjoy art. She knows a lot about it" Jessica admitted. "He even tried to explain to us about the painting back then. But still, I don't know what he's talking about. It's just a basket of fruit."

"Dad doesn't understand either" replied Robert with a casual look. "Dad also heard an explanation from him. But I also keep assuming that it's fruit."

Robert then chose to be quiet, as did Jessica. It took a while before the two of them looked at each other and started laughing. They laughed as they remembered each other's facial expressions, as Nathan explained about the painting to them.

"Hopefully there will be no more meetings in the gallery" Robert said. "Don't hate it. Dad just can't enjoy all those paintings. To me it's all just pictures."

"me too. Nathan can go there if he wants to go. But alone." Jessica said.

"Ah, I hope Nathan won't take me there again. That's really boring. We even queued for so long and long to get inside the building. Oh my goodness." Jessica shook her head as she recalled that ridiculous thing.
